The food is mediocre: the rice overcooked and the nori chewy. I like the atmosphere and the other parts of the meal were good. It’s funny, some people love this place and others don’t. It seems that it depends on the night you come here.

Ah! Putting a bad review out there sucks, but so does having a terrible experience with a company. I used the online option to order delivery from this place and received my order confirmation immediately. About 20 minutes later, the restaurant itself cancelled my order. I called to find out why and they simply said they’re super busy so they cancelled my order. That is SO unprofessional! Someone should have contacted me to see if we minded waiting instead of them throwing in the towel and deciding they didn’t want to put in the work. Swamped or not, they absolutely should have honored the order that was already put in and confirmed!

Best sushi I’ve found in Nashville way better than Samurai. Servers are very friendly and helpful. A lot of space. I’m shocked it’s not busier! Very good, my go to.

I love sushi. This place is definitely one that I’ll be visiting again! I got the Phoenix Roll and the Hawaiian-Sunset Roll! Both were great! The Phoenix was super spicy, but I loved it! Then, the Hawaiian was super delicious and tasted almost like desert!

The service here has declined over the past 6 months. Last night was what did it in for us. The service was terrible. The food took forever. I’m guessing it had to do with the sushi chefs doing shots behind the counter. Is that a normal thing? I was totally taken aback when I saw that go down. We even asked for our check when we got our food because we knew it would take forever to get our change back. What do you know? It did. My fiancé had to go up to the counter and ask for change. I’m giving it 3 stars only because we use to come here all of the time and the service was great. But like I said over the past 6 months

The sushi scene in Nashville runs the gamut. For a landlocked city, there’s a pretty decent selection available for you to experience. At Osake, you can be assured of a good product for a pretty modest price point. You can also be assured that the place will be busy. When you’re at an Elliston Pl location along with a price point that doesn’t hurt your wallet, you’re going to be and stay busy. Osake is a Friday regular for me. Parking is easy. The food is good and(for take out) the service is pretty easy going. Osake, like many sushi joints in Nashville, has an abundance of cream cheese and mayo-based rolls. Don’t get these. Mayo and/or cream cheese on maki rolls is an affront to humanity. Stick with the basics: tobiko, tempura, eel sauce, fish, etc. Ruling out the rolls that bear the devil’s condiment makes ordering pretty easy. I, typically, get some variation of the caterpillar roll, dragon roll, and spicy crawfish. Two rolls at a time usually takes 15 – 20 minutes and less than $ 20. You can’t beat that. AND, the food tastes pretty darn good. I’m taken with the levels of freshness of the fish. I’ve never had a roll that tastes fishy or old. I’ve never had an unpleasant post-eating experience. I’ve also never varied from the maki roll experience. Soup, buns, bento… I couldn’t tell you a thing about them. Rolls at night to go? Yep. Do it.

Let me start this by saying that in the past I have enjoyed quite nice meals at Osake. Tonight’s experience however, was a disappointment. I ordered a Yellowtail Roll, a Snow White Roll, and the chicken steamed buns. A few minutes later, the server returned saying they didn’t have chicken steamed buns anymore, they only had the pork ones. They better bothered to update the menu, apparently. So, –1 star for that. I ordered the potato croquettes instead. A few minutes later, the server returned again saying that they were out of the croquettes, and if I wanted anything else instead. There goes another star. At that point I said to forget about it, I’ll just have the two rolls I had previously ordered. A few minutes later, another server walks up to me. Guess what… They’re out of the white tuna that goes in the Snow White roll. Would I be OK if they substituted it for regular tuna? Aaand there goes another star. Annoyed, and thoroughly regretting my decision to come here, I said sure, regular tuna is fine. The order took *forever*. When it finally arrived, I tried to enjoy it regardless of the previous incidents. The Snow White was OK, but not as good as the original, but I was expecting that. The Yellowtail roll however… I’m assuming that the sushi chef tried to rush through its preparation to make up for the time wasted on the kerfuffle with the other roll. The roll was falling apart, and there was nary a scrap of green onion in it. For me, what makes our breaks a yellowtail roll is the balance between the flavors of the fish and the green onion, and this was extremely sub-par. I was going to take another star away, but for old times sake I’ll leave it. Long story short, everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. Maybe it’s time to look for other sushi options in Nashville.

I really do not enjoy giving out bad reviews but this place asked for it. I’ll keep this short. I came to O’Sake to celebrate a birthday dinner with a group of friends(8 of us total). It was also my first time dinning here. The service was horrendous. The restaurant was not busy at all. It is a small location, and there were 4 waitresses on staff. After we had been seated and out part arrived it took our waitress roughly 30-minutes to come to and take our order for food. We order our food and ask them to bring out 4 clay pitchers of hot sake for us. They bring out the sake, and it took over 2 hours to receive our food. Several of my friends walked up to our waitress and asked, «What is taking so long» the waitress replied«Oh, your food will be out in a second,» and our food came didn’t come out until an hour later. Had it not been for the massive amount of sake that we had flowing in our system we probably would have left after 30 minutes. I understand sushi is a delicate art and takes time to prepare small cuts of fish, but YOUDON’T EVENHAVETOCOOKIT. how long does it take to prepare 10ROLLSOFFISH/RICE/VEGETABLES?! The food was nothing to write home about. Average sushi rolls. The fish was your average run-of-the mill sushi. The rice, average, the fish, average. I could have gone and had sushi at whole foods and would not have tasted any difference. We complained to our waitress. Our bill was over $ 300, the food quality was average and the service was absolutely horrendous. When we asked if we could receive a discount due to the horrendous service You know what they said? «Yes, we agree, you should have a discount.» Apparently the lousy service was due to the sushi chefs. The servers went as far as to say, «we understand if you don’t even tip us.» They acknowledge the cooks were the issue. The sushi chef came to apologize, and also to let us know that they could not give us a discount after the waitresses begged them, and told them it was my birthday. He brought out a bowl of vanilla ice cream with three scoops to share among 8 people. I was already having a lousy day and just wanted to enjoy my birthday with a group of friends. I couldn’t even have that. O’Sake Japanese Restaurant you ruined my birthday dinner. I hope you feel absolutely horrible for your terrible customer. I will never be back and I hope this review deters others from coming.

There is a lunch special that allows you to try their special rolls. You can choose 2 rolls and it also comes with miso soup. I would say it’s reasonably priced for sushi. Sushi is hard to find here in Nashville inly like California so I am really trying to find an authentic sushi place out here. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Service was good.

Samuri sushi was closed so I tried this place out. Good location, atmosphere did remind me of Japan. Simple, rustic and small. The Japanese way! Good sushi, and cold beer. I’ll be back!

This little hole in the wall has some of the best sushi I’ve ever put in my mouth! I was so impressed with how delicious everything was, as well as how quick and attentive the service was. Rolls I highly recommend: the Vandy, Nashville, and the Santa Fe. So sad that I discovered this place just before moving away from Nashville! Would have made it a weekly must!

I’m currently writing this review while in a blissful food coma-a product of my insatiable craving for some sushi. Osake is a gem that is located on edgehill, close to Vandy’s campus. They have a pretty good happy hour from 4−6pm: buy one get one half off rolls, half off selected drinks, and $ 4 select appetizers. I ordered the Christine roll(so great) and a black crab roll. Both were delicious. I also ordered a house salad with ginger which totaled my bill to $ 20 without tip. Fairly good price considering so many specialty rolls can easily be $ 14+. Service was good, and I ate happily alone in a corner until the last roll was gone. How sad. Will continue coming back here.

Stopped by this establishment yesterday for lunch and I was quite pleased! Had the lunch special of miso soup, salmon skin roll and philidelphia roll; kept it simple/basic since I’m currently getting over an illness. My meal was pretty good and well prepared and Addie, waitress with the blue colored hair, was very pleasant and attentive. Will return.

They have one of the best lunch menus for sushi in town! You can have two rolls for 9.95 with miso soup! That’s really all you need. I judge sushi by its rice actually. I hate it when they make maki with so much rice especially when they’re dried out. I always order the same type of sushi which is spicy tuna. I never order complicated rolls w a bunch of sauce and random crap. I like simple rolls which this place do them right. The only thing I think I’ve noticed the few times I’ve been here is the lack of servers. Yes it’s a small place but they need at least two. They always have this girl working lunch by herself during the week. You also have to park on the street which has meters so take note that you always have to pay for parking. Other than that, they have happy hours too so check that out! Great place for lunch with colleagues and friends!

Stopped in for late lunch today and everything was excellent. The pork buns are AMAZING. Try them with hot or sweet mayo. I’m a sushi snob, without a doubt. My Nigiri was perfectly prepared. The service was also excellent. I was immediately seated and my drink arrived before i could blink. I didn’t bother ordering miso soup because a lot of sushi joints around here have really bad miso soup for some reason. Addy brought some anyway so i would have something until my order was ready. The miso soup was really good so I’m glad she did. Addy was very friendly and attentive and had great recommendations. Will definitely be back soon.

Yikes, not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. Being in a landlocked state I was wary of ordering any sashimi so I stuck to staple rolls such as shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and an eel avocado roll. I wasn’t expecting anything from NY, SF, or LA and even then I was extremely underwhelmed. The food was barely passable. The portions of «fish» were paltry and the rice was overboiled. Definitely a pass.

I’m a fan! The waiters here immediately seat you and make fantastic recommendations if you’re new. We had a perfectly done miso soup, pork buns, and I had a spicy salmon roll. While I did find the salmon in my roll a bit skimpy and the roll a bit small, I was pretty pleased with the variety in my meal. I recommend coming for lunch since they seem to have better combos. I still managed to find a great two-roll combo that I shared with my table. This sushi bar reminds me of a high end place at my undergrad but with better prices and kinder service. I think in the future, I’ll probably try some of the hot entrees, as I was a bit disappointed in the small serving size of the rolls. Cool, woody ambience with traditional décor definitely sets a warm tone to any meal, though a minor drawback is how easily you can hear other’s conversations.(Perhaps come on a busier day when the chatter level is higher?) Great local bar with above average service.

The ambience here is really nice. Lots of wood. Dark, but inviting. Nicer in the inside than on the outside. We got here around 3:45pm for an early dinner on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The hostess brought our drinks super fast. The food: understand I am not a «sushi eater.» I am VERY picky about my fish, and can’t stomach it raw. So all my rolls were tempura. Everything was delicious. Ranked: Volcano Roll, Salmon Tempura Roll, Calamari Roll, Crab Bang Roll. ALL the sushi, please! The place is small, so I’d advise against bringing a huge group, this this is perfect for a smaller intimate group.

Service was super quick, cool décor, good music volume, and easy to find. Parking isn’t bad unless you go during night hours. That statement might not be valid after tomorrow due to ALLTHEDEVELOPMENT. But this place is cool, no frills, and fun. The food(we got four rolls) was awesome. If it’s not the best sushi in Nashville, I’m welcome to suggestions.
