Dr. Mappes is a bit of a rite of passage for tweens in Bellevue who are orthodontically challenged. Located right off Highways 70 and I40, the office is easy to get to with plenty of parking. Both my Minis were able to get in for their initial evals within 2 weeks of our first call and the staff is very helpful with scheduling and insurance. Like, crazy helpful with insurance! The lobby has several video game set ups and their orthodontic room has a ton of TVs for the kids to watch while being wired up. There are also(mercifully) a few private rooms for grown ups getting work done(it would be weird to be in a room filled with 12 year olds watching iCarly when you’re 40). Dr Mappes himself is like Santa… very sweet, funny and my kids love him. He takes time to explain what he’s doing, is a great listener and genuinely nice guy. While we are new and haven’t seen what the out come of all this metal is going to be, we opted to stay in Bellevue because Dr Mappes is easy to schedule, organized, fun for kids and easier on the wallet than some of downtown services we looked at. There’s room for a bit of improvement in the waiting room for parents(which could use some comfortable furniture from this decade), WiFi and electronic scheduling would be a perk I’d love to have. That being said, I would rather pay his prices and give these things up! They do seem to be doing some office and building reno now, so maybe that’s what’s coming next. Or maybe its a wine bar for parents. That would be good too. :-)
