My son is 15 months old and we just started at Leaps N Bounds in January, 2015 after leaving our previous daycare center. I am giving it 5 stars because the folks at LNB work very hard and do a great job with the resources and parent participation level they have. As a new mom as well as a new resident of Nashville, I struggled to find good childcare in the East Nashville area that was affordable, diverse, and available. The few places we found in the area were either great but top dollar and buried in waiting lists, or incredibly(and sadly) on the scary side(dirty, smelly, just uncomfortable to be in). Luckily, circumstance led us to find LNB, just on the outskirts of East Nashville, and the owners and director were incredibly open, welcoming, and organized. The overall direction of the center seems to be pointed in a very good direction. Their philosophy on child development is well stated and available on their website. They also do a great job of sharing what’s happening at the center via a private Facebook group and they highly encourage parent participation with a PTA. My son loves his teacher, Ms. Emma, and he’s developing quickly thanks to the range of activities they offer in his age group, which includes a good amount of play-oriented discovery and language development. He does sign language with his teacher and at home with us, loves to color, has started singing, and I’ve seen video of him at school exploring snow or singing songs with the class. All good things. Furthermore, they’ve been good about feeding him a vegetarian diet, substituting meat for other veg-friendly protein options, as well as adapting to our cloth diaper routine, which is really fantastic given that we’re in the minority on both fronts. Sure, I prefer some teachers over others and there’s the occasional off day where I leave without getting his daily sheet or would have preferred one more diaper change. But, I’m pretty sure these things happen everywhere. I appreciate these folks and what they allow us to do, which is go to work knowing our son is in a safe and loving place. Hope to see it thrive in the coming months/years.
