Avoid this place if you don’t want to pay about 10 times more than you should. I went in for a cleaning, and then a few months later for cavities. Gave them my insurance card at the very beginning of this whole process, apparently I wasn’t insured(there are two different types of Cigna Dental apparently…). I didn’t pay anything for the cleaning, but I paid a little over 200 upfront after my fillings. MYBILLCAMEBACKCLOSETO $ 900. That’s $ 1,100 for fillings. I explained the situation to the women at the front desk and the women(the one who I recognized as the one who had accepted my insurance card in the first place) said«Uh-Oh». Uh-Oh is right! You screwed up lady, and I have to pay for it! Isn’t it the right thing to do to tell a customer that they are not covered when you see their insurance?! We were able to reduce the bill– cut in half but still $ 700 when all said and done. It wasn’t fair and it’s a terrible way to run a business. Another thing that pissed me off is the women who did my teeth cleaning talked to me like I was a child. She was showing me the correct way to brush my teeth, I get it, that is what they are supposed to do, but I know how to brush my teeth. Also, If you are going to explain something to me, how about act like I am an adult-because I am-I have my own insurance and I am paying for this appointment with my own money! Dr. Flemming might be a nice guy, I don’t know, but he runs a screwy place, or just doesn’t ensure that the people at the front desk are trained. Would give this place negative stars if I could.

This dentist told me that the bill would be $ 50 and it turned out to be $ 1000. When I pointed out the discrepancy and that I had not agreed to pay $ 1000, they said«oh, we’re sorry». I’ve hired a lawyer, sent nasty notes, and am probably spending more than $ 1000 to fight this but it’s unfair and a bad business practice. LOTS of dentists will try to oversell you dental care. I’ve accepted this and I get second opinions if a procedure sounds excessive and expensive. However what I haven’t accepted is that a dentist will tell you that once your insurance is done, you’ll be charged $ 50 and then once you’ve got a hole in your mouth tell you it is going to be $ 1,000. That’s just lying.

I know, I know, everyone loves going to the dentist. But really, it’s not so bad. I recently had my second visit to Dr. Fleming and really enjoyed the experience. The ladies at the desk are very friendly, there’s a most excellent magazine selection in the waiting room, and today, I arrived fifteen minutes early, and they actually brought me into my appointment early! All of the hygienists that I’ve interacted with have been friendly and they have done a really nice(and gentle) job on my smile. This office is also located right across the street from Vanderbilt Medical Center, so anyone that works there just has to hop across the street to make it to their appointment!
