My wife and I stayed at the Iris Gardens in the«Couples Cottage» for a Saturday night away from reality in Mid December. The experience was absolutely incredible. Located right in the heart of downtown Nashville, we were able to walk everywhere. We did lunch across the street at Big Woods Pizza and Brewery, and dinner down the street at the Artists Colony Inn. After much deliberation, I chose the Iris Gardens because of the location, price and feel. We were looking for a rustic atmosphere which still provided our expected amenities. We settled on the Couples Cottage because there were only two of us, and the size was perfect. We also really wanted a wood stove in the room, which the cottage provided. Upon arriving the check in process took less than five minutes, and we were personally walked to our room by the owner to show us around and answer any questions. We were also provided with a duraflame to light in the wood stove. Our room had a cable tv with all of the usual channels, but it also provided very rustic and unique furniture which added to the terrific ambiance. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with the Iris Gardens Cottages & Suites; this will not be our last time there.

To add to the other review, this cottage was listed as a 2-bedroom, which was technically accurate. However, there were NO doors for these rooms. One edge of the refrigerator rested precariously on a piece of cardboard, and the entire«kitchenette» was rigged in such a way that turning on one appliance would at times, disconnect another appliance. Add spitballs on the ceiling and blankets with holes/cigarette burns, and it is a stretch to even describe this unit as rustic.

I can in good conscience only give this place one star. It’s conveniently located so you can walk to the shops and restaurants, but that’s the only good thing going for Iris Gardens. The website photos are very deceiving. Our cottage was sandwiched between a rock shop and an art studio, with a BBQ restaurant behind(I kept looking for the fireplace bc of the smoke smell…) and an ice cream shop a few yards away. Noisy beyond belief, and we had to keep our door locked at all times bc folks kept mistaking the cottage for another store! Ugh!!! This place is NOT wheelchair accessible, and we had to lug our suitcases down a steep flight of stairs. Not cool. Worst of all– free wifi!!! How about ZERO reception, unless we stood outside(on one foot, holding our phones and iPads like divining rods! I will definitely return to Brown Co/Nashville, In, but I will do better research on where to stay. So disappointed.
