Stopped in before and after we ate at the Phở spot two doors down. I needed coffee before so asked about the cortado, which I’d never had. Christina, the barista, was great at explaining the difference from a Cubano and helping to be sure that I didn’t order something too sweet(@ my request). Christina was also great in making it. She took her time and then made a lovely design on top. It was perfect. After we ate at the Phở place, I went back in for dessert and got an iced Chai Latte, also made well by Christina, who was still super helpful and friendly. Im giving only two stars because the young lady on the register Sarah(which is the easier part right… just smile and add?) was rude, not helpful, gazed at folks(I thought it was just me at first, but I saw she was just as rude, unfriendly, and not helpful with others). Help Sarah with an ounce of the helpfulness that Christina has and maybe I’ll rate higher!

Cute little spot tucked away in Berry Hill. I ordered the cortado con leche with almond milk, it was very good. Mark ordered a latte with almond milk and it was so so. The almond milk was pretty over powering. I think Barista Parlor will always win the award for making an almond milk latte where you can actually taste the espresso, but I’m still giving others a shot. The interior here is fun. I love all the wood and the exposed brick. The staff was great. It was busy today and they were on their game. I will totally come back next time I’m in the neighborhood.

I really like this coffee shop. I wish there were a little more espresso and cream combinations to choose from. But it’s at least three stepped up from Starbucks!

Awesome, quality coffee, great atmosphere, nice knowledgable baristas. Some great coffee places in Nashville are kinda stuck up and this is not like that at all. They usually have some awesome specials, that are really interesting and worth a try.

This may actually be the best coffee I’ve ever had. Not just in Nashville. Such a strong, bold, flavorful cup of coffee. I wish there was a coffee place of this caliber in Atlanta. I have yet to find one. The vibe is very hipster and the location is great. I must go back soon just for this.

After reading the reviews, I decided to stop here on my way out of Nashville. Honestly the first time I came, I wasn’t impressed and didn’t understand the great reviews. I thought maybe I just ordered the wrong thing and decided to give it another try. I’m definitely glad I did. The blueberry muffin was phenomenal. I had the goal to only eat half but couldn’t stop myself from finishing the whole thing. I also had the vanilla bean latte which was awesome. The staff was helpful with recommendations and hilarious!

Eighth & Roast is homey and kind of dark on the inside. Which I don’t mind, especially on overcast days like this one. I got a drip and a blueberry muffin and it’s definitely a good breakfast. I wanted the lemon poppyseed but unfortunately they were out :(I’d like to sit here in the window and read a book sometime. It’s quiet and very chill.

A nice small spot with a cool interior. Their is a coffee place first that also sells a small amount of muffins, etc. I ordered my usual latte and it was served in a ceramic coffee mug. The drink was well made and some nice art was created. It was smooth and made to the correct temperature. All in all, a nice spot with really good coffee. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Unique flavors and great service. I love walking into coffee places like this and getting what the person behind the register recommends. He was right about his choice. I wouldn’t mind trying this place again. Very cool ambiance and décor too

Me and my fiancé love«Roast,» as we call it. I’m not sure if that’s the general colloquialism used around town, but anyways… love this place. The staff is always very kind and informative, the coffee is stellar and they offer more or less most of the super hipstery brewing styles available at places like Barista parlor, but the place somehow always manages to avoid feeling pretentious. It feels very homey and warm; the only downside to me is its a little small and parking isn’t the best. Back on track though… THECOFFEE. Maybe part of it is that they do most(or all?) of the sourcing and roasting in house? The coffee here is so fresh, and so delicious. We gift it a lot to our out of town guests, and we’ve had no complaints so far. I’ve even had staff, on multiple occasions, go to the back and pull beans that are so fresh they’re technically not even ready yet(they’re supposed to rest a few days before brewing), and just hand label them for me, whenever I’ve wanted a particular brew that’s not available. One last thing… get the iced mocha. Don’t be offended when they pull out the chocolate milk to make it. Try it and you’ll realize its everything you’ve ever wanted from ice, milk, chocolate, and coffee.

Decided to diversify up my coffee house selection and try somewhere new. I found Eight & Roast on Unilocal, and decided to give it a try. This cute little coffee shop is somewhat off the beaten path as compared to some of the other shops in the area, but still within walking/commuting distance of the Belmont area. The vibe in here is way relaxed and inviting, and the staff is great. So friendly and willing to help make a suggestion based on what coffee you typically drink. I ordered the Americano, as they said it was their signature/most popular drink, and it was good. The wifi is free and fast, and overall this is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and get to work. Highly recommend.

I like Eigth and Roast’s coffee for sale, their drinks are pretty normal for a coffee shop in the area. You can stop by here for a fine cup and avoid some of the hustle that plagues the other places around Nashville.

Quality coffee shop. This place isn’t ground-breakingly innovative but it is still extremely good. When here, I had the hand-poured coffee. After ordering, they hand you a cup and you have to walk over to the hand-pouring station. Here, they have a person who will pour your cup. This is a really nice feature because it allows you to see the hand-pouring method and learn more about the beautiful world of coffee. Also, another great feature of this shop is the fact that it is a coffee roastery. If you don’t know much about coffee and coffee shops, if a coffee shop has a roaster, it has better coffee because it allows for the beans to be fresher. It’s not only an extremely good coffee shop, it is also in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Across the street is Zanies and around it are cool vintage clothing stores. With the new addition of Sinema and the Melrose Place development down the road, this area is set to become hot soon. Considering the extremely good coffee and the nice area, this is a quality coffee house that is worth the time to go to.

Eighth & Roast offers a coffee shop experience that doesn’t alienate. I know the preceding might be an odd sentence but, if you admit it, you know what I am talking about. Coffee can be as intimidating as beer or wine. Depending on where you go to get it, you might feel unwelcome, out of sorts or unsure of what to get. No worries. It’s just coffee(or beer or wine). It’s meant to be consumed and enjoyed. If the process of doing so becomes any more involved than that, you(and the place you’re patronizing) are doing it wrong. Eighth & Roast does it right. From the moment you walk in, you feel comfortable. It might have something to do with the homey wooden & brick touches or good, laid-back energy inside the Waverly shop. I think it has much to do with the fact that the baristas are friendly, smile at you once you step inside and don’t seem as though they hate the fact that you breath the same air as they do. #thelittlethings Not being much of a coffee guy, I was pleased to discover the breadth of their tea program. Not only does 8&R have an abundance of(loose leaf) tea to choose from, you have the option of getting it hot or cold, so you can, happily, patronize the shop in the middle of summer or winter. I opted for an iced chai berry tea and every sip was a joy. I have plans on coming back and trying their entire line of teas. But don’t be so quick to take your drink and run. Remember the homey wooden touches I spoke of earlier? Yeah, take a seat. The wifi signal is strong and plenty of other patrons are tickety-tacketying away on their computer thingies. Join in. Or, if you’d rather forgo the work and concentrate on eating delicious things, you can do that too. Eighth’s blondie game is legit. Seriously. If you have a sweet tooth, order one. Don’t share. I don’t know if these delights are made in-house or imported from somewhere else in town. All I know is that every time I darken those doors, a blondie will make its way into my belly. Every.time. For a coffee shop, the hours aren’t very accommodating to a later night crew so I’d advise you getting here earlier than later. Thursday-Sunday seem to be optimal days. Waverly is more of a residential than commercial neighborhood(for now?) so look for nearby street parking by the pretty homes.

Really enjoyed this coffee bar. This is a legit coffee drinkers place. They have specialty coffees, pour-over, press, drip, espresso, etc. I opted for the Quartez(I think that is what it was) — a double-espresso shot with a very small amount of foamed milk. The ambiance is very chill — borderline hipster-ish. I can’t speak to the hours or menu, but the coffee choices are solid. This place has 2 bathrooms(1 each for men/women), and more parking(along the southwest wall adjacent to the furniture store) than the average boutique’s in the area which is nice.

Great stop for a true coffee enthusiast! The fact that there is always a line(well worth the wait) is proof that these folks know coffee! Their cortado con leche gets a lot of attention, but my true judgement of quality comes with the Americano. Piping hot water topped with espresso is my favorite way to test the waters of a coffee shop. The vibe is on point and a hipster/bearded fella and flannel wearing ladies dream. It definitely fits the theme of Nashville and is reasonably priced. I highly recommend a visit whether you like coffee or not. Good vibes, good products and well you will feel cooler by paying a visit!

Great morning coffee place! The shop itself is open and inviting — with all types of people. We’ve got the«hipsters», the suits, and then us normal folk. Breakfast selection provides enough options from muffins and sandwiches to breakfast burritos. Coffee selection is great and they take pride in the process. Their iced black coffee is simple and strong. There is street parking right out front, but also a lot at the end of the building section — making it super easy to find parking. The guys behind the counter are awesome as well! Definitely a fan.

Eight and Roast is a really cosy place to go to if you ever want to catch up with a friend or if you want to get any work done. I went there once because I had a free afternoon and wanted to get some work and studying done. First of all, the coffee I got was really great. I got a hand brewed el salvadorian coffee fix and it was really nice for the afternoon. This place also felt more homely with their brick walls and wooden furniture. Great place for an indoor afternoon!

We have been coming here for years and the Coffee is unbelievably delicious. We usually get a hot mocha with whipped cream that they make in house which is absolutely delectable! This coffee will have you going all day(and probably into the next) while being perfect in flavor and quality. You can also buy their beans to go! The food is also quite good. They serve sandwiches that are homemade and pre-wrapped. The sandwiches are chilled and they will toast them for you there or you can take it with you to enjoy later. I usually go for the bahn mi or the Cubano. They also generally have a chicken wrap or chicken option as well. Hands down one of the best coffee shops in Nashville. The service is great and the quality is very consistent.

Great, artisan coffee. They roast their own beans here. Parking can be a bit of a pain, but this place is perfect for weekday mornings should you be lucky enough to include it on your daily commute. Hours are kind of early for the late night studies. There are a couple of long tables that seat 9, with long benches along the wall, and two bistro chairs out front. This is a good place for quiet small, group conversation, but I would keep group sizes small in the peak hours. I highly recommend the Nutella Café Latte, and getting a peek at the roasters while waiting for your cup.

Cortado was well done and the iced coffee was smooth. This place is a cute and good sized shop for working or hanging out. You can see that they have a roasting room in the back up the ramp. There is parking on the edge of the building as well as street parking, so its not too difficult to get to. This place is really relaxed and non-pretentious. The chemex coffee deal is awesome so take advantage of it!

So many choices… where do I begin?! Nutella is on the menu? Okay, done! The coffee tastes like it was made with love. My coworkers and I enjoyed our lattes so much. We also got some breakfast sandwiches to go. I had their granola with almond joy. It was a little dry; I was expecting it to be paired with some yogurt or something. Their employees were sweet and truly looked happy to work there. That’s always refreshing to see. Also, there’s plenty of work space available and the lighting makes it welcoming to all.

Ordered a Guatemalan coffee and a Firepot chai tea latte. The coffee has a great flavor. Very full-bodied. Not too acidic. Chai tea latte was one of my favorites. More flavor-filled versus diluted with sweeteners or milk. Only comes in two sizes for hot, 12 and 16 oz. Atmosphere is rustic and hipster with just a brick wall and floor. Has a few wood tables good for large groups and smaller tables and bar-like seating for singles and to work on your computer.

You don’t need multiple visits when you have love at first sight and first taste! It was the middle of the afternoon one recent Sunday and I was desperate for my first sip of iced coffee. I was just looking for any old place to get my fix because I was just looking to grab & go, but damn if the interior of Eighth & Roast didn’t encourage me to stay longer! I can easily see myself setting up shop for a good work day here. They have plenty of tables up front, bathed in natural light, as well as a bar against the wall with outlets. Exposed brick/rustic/industrial setting. I can spend hours in here! But I had only minutes. I’ll be back… The iced coffee is smooth as buttah, with that slightly nutty flavor I love. The barista was nice and made my beverage all speedy-like. They have an array of specialties and baked goods. Really, perfection in a coffee shop.

Amazing little coffee shop off 8th street near Zanies. I was there at 8:30am on a Monday to get some work done. I checked in and got $ 1.50 off a hand pour coffee. The Chemex was huge! I had like 2.5 standard mugs worth of coffee for $ 3.50. I didn’t even finish it but it would be perfect for 2 people. The interior is very cool and it wasn’t too busy so finding an outlet for my laptop was easy. There is 2hr parking on the street right in front of the door or on backstreet. I only knocked a star off because the wifi wasn’t working on my computer for some reason so I ended up having to create a hotspot from my phone. It might have been them, it might have been my computer, who knows. I’m just glad t mobile lets me make free hotspots and unlimited data!

Always have loved this coffee shop and the amazing coffee that this place has. Usually a drinker of iced coffee but decided to change things up a bit and ordered a small iced mocha. One word. Amazing. The mocha is super rich but not so much to overpower the taste of the actual espresso. A great balance of chocolate and iced espresso. Not too sweet either. Eight and roast never fails to impress and the atmosphere is calm and soothing. I might be making a bold statement but possibly the best coffee shop in Nashville.

Tony little coffee shop with the right amount of pizzazz and oomph. This city has a few gems like this place studded into the walls, tucked away from many, and only visible to the dedicated and the devoted. Eighth and Roast are one of my favorite coffee shops in the city(and dare I say, country) what with their passion for brewing good coffee, roasting their own beans, and setting a nice atmosphere to sit in and enjoy your brew in peace. They do Chemex style pour over which, if you haven’t yet discovered, is probably what is given to you at the pearly gates by St. Peter when you first head to Heaven. Watch them make it, and enjoy your coffee by the window sil, watching panhandlers and other colorful people go by their lives on the other side of the magic window. They have some food with just the right amount of calories and taste to recharge you and set you on your way.
