Sandwiches are awesome. Beer selection is awesome. People are incredibly friendly and the prices are reasonable. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Shut the front door. Clawson’s, if you tire of Nashville, please know that Kansas City will gladly accept your deli business. This place is the real deal. I’m still not quite sure where we were in town when we arrived… as it wasn’t quite by the other things on our list to do in Nashville(read: maybe sketchy?). There’s a large parking lot with plenty of space, and then a side door to enter in a basement of a building for the deli. It was pretty quiet when we arrived a little early on a Sunday morning. I wasn’t that hungry, but reading through the list of sandwiches sure made me change my mind. I’m usually a classic pastrami gal, but the chicken salad sounded too good to pass up. The gal working behind the counter answered all of our questions and didn’t make us feel like we were in a rush to decide. We sat at the counter, conveniently next to the water, so we could watch them prepare our sandwiches. There were quite a few phone orders being placed for pick up(which is convenient to note if you’re in a hurry). I also think this would be a great place to get a bite from and hit up a park for a picnic. The bread = marbled rye and sliced to a perfect ratio versus the sandwich toppings. Chicken salad = amazing, fresh, and not overly sloppy/saucy. Food + service + prices = all excellent. There’s a nice selection of beer(both bottles and tap) if you’re in the mood for it. There was a wide variety of tasty looking cookies and brownies for dessert, but they were not necessary with the large sandwich.

Pretty darn good. All three times I’ve gone, I’ve gotten the Italian. I’m a sucker for salami and they pile it high with LOTS of tasty meat and fresh veggies. It’s a huge sandwich, and every time that I get it, I can’t imagine eating it all… and I do. I’m not a huge fan of their bread– it always seems a touch stale and too hard to chew. Also, they oversaturate the sandwich with the oil/vinegar mixture. It ends up being VERY greasy, especially if you save half for later and let the oil soak in. My husband has tried the turkey sandwich– he wasn’t a fan. Again, I think it was the bread that did him in. Tip: If you want a quick snack, the pickled egg with pretzels is DELISH.

Can’t say enough good about this place. A shining example of local, neighborhood business. The Clawsons feel like family to me and treat their customers that way. I eat here maybe 3 times a week on average. All the sandwiches are delicious, high quality, and inventive. The specials are even better, usually. Add to that a top notch beer selection at fair prices, dedication to excellence in all areas, and some of the best vibes around. Give them all your money! Then talk to them and gain some cool friends.

We had the #1 and #12. #1 was a good, cold sandwich. However, #12 is the one I would really recommend. I am not a huge fan of Swiss cheese, but the combination with buffalo Turkey on a sub pressed all nice and warm was just amazing. That, when combined with the super flavorful chips, refreshing Pilsner beer, and one of the best pickles I’ve ever had is what makes this place exceptional!

Clawson’s is a really cool sandwich shop in what used to be a horrible part of town in the recent past. It’s built into an old industrial like building. They have a great spelection of canned beers. I ordered a a sriracha chicken sandwich. It was quite large and not too spicy, so don’t fear that. It was a bit heavy on the mayo. Overall I neat little place.

Cute little sandwich shop /pub. The #12 is a must try. The # 1 is awesome as well. Friendly and fast staff. Definitely will go again when we are in Nashville.

We went to lunch at Clawson’s today. I had the pastrami/cole slaw on rye. It was very good. The staff was nice. We eat lunch around Trevecca when we are in Nashville regularly. We love Joey’s Pizza, but sometimes you need a good, calm lunch and Clawson’s will be our go to.

Stopped at Clawson’s while on a road trip bac to GA and very happy with my choice! Once opening the door I was greeted by the friendly staff and a cool retro decorated vibe. Beer selection was on point, and the girl helping us out was very knowledgeable on the large inventory! Also, plenty of variety of non alcoholic choices. I ordered the 9 ¾(mainly because of the Harry Potter nod) their homemade chicken salad sandwich on sourdough bread was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the #4, a salami, provolone and olive mayo concoction was equally as good! Highly recommend dropping by and getting a bit to eat and a beer!

Found this adorable little café and pub on Unilocal, popped in for a quick to-go order(super-stressed and in a hurry), asked them to make easy sandwiches for the kids and one that would make me come back for more. The cashier asked me about my most recent favorite sandwich, which I thought was a great way to gauge my preferences. I happened to see an urban farmer friend I thought of on the way there, which was a huge vote of confidence for the quality of the food. My order was ready in just a few minutes, which was fantastic because I was there with my three kids who are generally well-behaved but my youngest was being whiny and wearing on my nerves. When I got to my car, I found a hand-written note on my sandwich(see photo). I teared up at the sight of a small gesture of kindness that helped to shift my entire afternoon. My son said, «I bet you’ll be back!» You bet I will. BTW, the cashier ordered a pastrami sandwich for me that I will absolutely order again. I’m eager to go and stay a while next time. The atmosphere there is warm and welcoming and a bit industrial and definitely urban. Loved the entire experience, including watching the other cashier interact with my kids over fortune cookies. They totally made my day. s

I had no idea this existed as I am never on this side of town. It’s a cute little place at Track One and is probably the easiest thing to find in that venue! I had a meeting in the venue and we decided to rehash some things at Clawson’s. None of us were hungry, so we got some drinks. They seem to have an extensive menu of beer and nonalcoholic beverages. We had a ginger beer, flavored water, and root beer. The ambiance was great. A little hipster but not obnoxiously so. They had cute little kitschy salt and pepper shakers on each table. I will be back for lunch. The menu seemed to have something for everyone, including vegans.

4.5 Disclosure: one of the owners is the cousin of a good friend. But, look at the star rating the business has. Not everyone is a friend of an owners’ cousin. This place is legit but I just wanted to put everything out there before getting to the nitty gritty. Clawson’s. Wow. Such a nice discovery and addition to the food and drink scene in Nashville. Not everything has to be trendy. Not everything has to be updated(read: expensive) Southern. To run a successful business people enjoy, just offer a quality product at fair prices and be nice to people. Clawson’s has figured this formula out. To begin with, I love the location. I love the fact that the Clawson’s folks set up shop somewhere other than in The Gulch, 12 South or one of the bloated east side neighborhoods. As the ever-constant flow of people can attest to, there are a lot of nooks and crannies to this great city of ours. I like seeing new business find its way to them. Plus, the actual layout of the space is fun. This is a reclaimed space with(hopefully) room to grow. If city growth stays on its present course, Clawson’s will be seen as pioneers. The dining room is made up of mis-matched chairs, tables of all shapes and sizes, board games and not much else. The vibe is very laid back and that comes from the awesome chill(yep, I just wrote that) of the owners. Their good energy permeates this place. And, on the rainy Friday I made my way here, it was all my group needed. Take some time to peruse the sandwich board before making a decision. There’s a lot to take in. Additionally, see if there are any specials to try. Lastly, take note of the beer program. The Clawson’s duo are Californians who are bringing a West Coast-curated knowledge and love of beer to Nashville and I’m really impressed with their collective, especially in light of the size of the restaurant. When it comes to craft beer, California’s been doing it well for a very long time. So, Clawson’s is sort of bringing a beer program from the future for our enjoyment. I decided on a #7 and New Holland draft beer. It took me a while and I asked a lot of questions(sorry about that). What sold me on the #7(tuna, swiss and mustard on wheat) was that the tunafish salas was dry and not wet. I hate a gloppy, mayonnaise-y tunafish salad sandwich. This sandwich had just enough mayo(the devil’s condiment) to bind and that’s it. Plus, the mustard and cheese added enough depth to cover up the binder, allowing the fish to shine through. My only suggestion is to add(more) sweet pickles. Yes, I’m one of those. If I am going old school with a tuna fish salad sandwich, I want sweet pickles. I’m from Kentucky. The sandwich came with my choice of bagged chips, so the classic sandwich combo was achieved. And, the beer. Oh, the beer. At the time, I was on a saison kick and the spicy citrusy libation was just what I wanted. I need to spend more rainy Fridays at Clawson’s.

Found this little pub on Unilocal and had to come try. You will not regret going here. I had the Schiracha Buffalo chicken — the flavors of the Swiss and Schiracha and it being hot pressed was amazing. Cool atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Will def go back !

Absolutely AMAZING! Amazing owners, amazing food, great atmosphere. There is not a single thing I didn’t enjoy about Clawson’s! There is a private lot for parking which is so nice. The location is pretty unique and I enjoyed the dining atmosphere. The beer selection is also pretty wide! The selections on the menu are great as well as the build your own option allows for unlimited combos! My husband and I ordered a #1 and a #9 with added meat and«awesome sauce» — an AMAZING homemade ranch with an even AMAZINGER hot sauce mixed in. The awesome sauce is literally so good I had to make up a word for it! The slices of cheese are ooey gooey and thick. Every bite had a cheese tendril hanging off! I loved it! Huge portions of meat on the sandwiches as well… High quality, amazing tasting meat! Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted so it could hold the sandwich but not so much that it hurt your mouth. The inside décor is very homey and comforting. It was like eating in my own kitchen. Made the experience for me. My only complaint is that there seemed to be a huge haze of smoke constantly hanging around from the grill. A little unpleasant, but doesn’t detract from the experience. The owners are amazing people. I am going to be coming back!

The sandwiches are great. The #1, 2, 9 ¾ and 12 are my favorite so far. Decent selections of brews. Delicious deserts by Dozen Bakery. Friendly service, nice vibe. My only criticism is that the place is smoky and you leave smelling like food. Normally that isn’t a problem but it can get a little bothersome on returning to the office.

This might be a bad idea, but I am deleting my entire previous review to update my thoughts on Clawson’s. I have been here about 50 times. Why? 1. The Clawson’s are like family, and treat others that way. 2. The sandwiches are bad ass, and the specials are off the chain. 3. The beer selection is some of the best in Nashville, while not being intimidating. They have their own growlers you can buy, and they are amazing. 4. The space is cozy. Brick walls, the furniture takes you back in time. 5⁄5.

The missus, the baby, and I walk into a deli/bar. Sounds like a punchline waiting to happen. The veggie food is good. Like really good, not what Nashville vegetarians have had to settle for claiming is good. They’ve got meatstuffs to, but not my thing. The place is ideally situated at the corner block where that train is always going to stop you for 22 minutes while you’re starving. There’s not a lot of signage there so google map that shiz. If you’re stuck on the street, just abandon your car and grab a sandwich, you’ve probably got time before that train departs. For those a little skittish about this place — it’s in the middle of what can only be called a project. Enter in through the large doors on the right of the parking lot, descend the three stairs or the not quite finished looking handicapped access ramp, make a left. Go to the end of that hall and look left — that weird fridge-looking door, that’s your deli. They’ve got dodgy old man beer, veggie sammiches, veggie chili, plenty of other stuff too. The space outside is also just amazing to walk around in as I took the 19-month old monster for a couple of walks when she became insistent that she was going to expend energy somehow. We ran into some of the other tenants and explored what is really one of the neater little unfinished reclaiming spaces I’ve been in in Nashville. I’ll reserve the final star until I’ve been back a few times, but it was definitely more than ok and was somewhere I will plan on diverting any time I see that damned train slogging through at 10mph.
