The last time we had tried to start a fire, the house filled with smoke. In March of 2015, during spring break, we had sweeps and ladders come out — you can read my reviews under their company — today in having Chimney Masters come out, I am immensely pleased with Ryan’s expertise in fireplaces, and in chimneys. First and foremost, the gas coil is not for wood burning fireplaces, the rental manager that leased this house to us specified this fireplace was for wood burning fires. The gas coil is holding together buy one tiny sheet of metal. A metal rod needs to be installed for wood burning fires. Secondly, when I was starting the fire on Halloween night I had a small fan in a window in the kitchen. When you are starting a fire, the smoke will follow the route of least resistance — the heat will go up the chimney, and the smoke will follow. Any other air flow in the house will conflict with that path the smoke will travel. I found Ryan to be a kind, well spoken, intelligent man that knows quite a lot about chimneys, fires, and wood. I almost did not call this company because of the first review. Ryan did specify if I had any further questions, to call him, he can direct me over the telephone. After meeting this man, and having him be so concise about our fireplace, I have come to the realization that he was probably trying to save the previous reviewer a service call which is $ 79. I highly recommend Chimney Masters.

I called this company after finding their information on Unilocal. When I spoke with the representative he couldn’t have seemed more disinterested in my job without ever coming to my house. After explaining what I needed(outside chimney work, inside exposed bricks cleaned, remortering areas) he went on to give me a bricks 101 lesson on why the bricks were crumbling. Then asked me how many bricks needed repairing on the chimneys… Uh, I didn’t go on the roof! Maybe you should come take a look and let me know! Basicaly, he tells me that I will need almost a whole new chimney built(though he has never seen the chimney)…OK, and the problem is? You are Chimney Masters right? I finally had to just say goodbye when he said they didn’t have time to get to it and maybe I should call another company. I’m really thinking they should change their name to «We May Know Something About Chimneys»!!!
