FIVESTARSBECAUSEITCLOSED! Oh that karma I spoke of? Is it bad that I’m happy that bit you in the backside? You mocked a cancer patient… so I’m not gonna feel too bad.

OHYES! Awesome double decker fish tacos and beer brewed in the restaurant! Add that to a normally short wait. Extremely short for the area, and nice pool tables. This is a regular place to start when I come to town. I’ll be back.

Great beer! There are sample sizes available for a very low price for you to try all six before deciding on your favorite. I do the sampler from time to time just to taste the difference. My favorite is Southern Flyer Light Larger. We started with Guacamole and chips for our appetizer. Since I started with mexican style, I went ahead and ordered the fish tacos for the entrée. I love the way they bring the hard shell tacos out on a taco stand to keep your tacos from getting soggy. The tacos were served with black beans and rice. Everything was great. I do suggest reservations. We didn’t have one but we got lucky and arrived before it got too crowded. There was a 15 minute wait when we arrived and when we left I overheard the hostess telling people the wait would be an hour. We were in and out in just under an hour and our service was good.

Downtown Nashville on a Saturday afternoon. Sitting on the patio. Enjoying appetizers and fresh brews :) What more could you ask for? The outdoor patio is a great spot for people watching and a perfect place to enjoy some of the beautiful weather we get here in Nashville. The different brews can be sampled individually or all at once(which is what we did of course!!). One or two hoppy brews but so many delicious ones! I had no idea they had so many brews on tap! A good selection of appetizers and meals to choose from as well. Enjoy!!!

If you can get past the crazy line of tourists in the evening, this place is fantastic! From the drinks to the food, everything was rock solid and extremely tasty. The Mac and cheese was something to write home to mom about. The appetizer tacos also started us off just right– soooo tasty! Service was excellent! The only negative is that everything is a little pricey, but I suppose with a location on the river– it’s hard to expect any less.

One of my favorites in Chattanooga and Nashville. Their Oktoberfest bier was very tasty, and our shrimp & crab tower was awesome. I stuck with my favorite shrimp & grits, and wasn’t disappointed. My daughter really liked her salmon salad. My wife ordered the Mac & Chicken, but it was served cold. They quickly brought her another one, which was at least warm, but this definitely wasn’t her best trip to Big River.

I really enjoyed this place. Finally finished with working our Company’s event held @ The Opryland, we were finally able to venture to Downtown Nashville to grab something for dinner and do a little sight seeing. After parking in a nearby garage and not wanting to venture to far from it, this place happened to be nearest and seemed be the most appealing to our group. The atmosphere is your typical pub style brewery, with an old semi rustic feel. The restaurant is also quite quite large, with plenty of seating. They have a vast majority of options to choose on the menu, with most of them sounding appealing. They also have an excellent selection of beer and wines to choose from as well. I decided to get a glass of Menaise e trois before ordering our food. It was great! Quite a few things sounded appealing though, I decided to go with the Blue Crab stuffed Chicken which is lightly breaded chicken, stuffed with crab meat & artichokes. Served with fresh spinach, smoked roma tomatoes and rice pilaf that was $ 15. 99. I decided to opt out on the rice and just substitute it for more spinage and tomato’s. My bf got the chicken and steak, someone else got the fried chicken with mashed potato’s and another person got some taco’s. Our server was friendly however, non existent for the most part and with that being said it was a while before she finally brought us our food. I usually am leery of places that have a variety of different cuisines to choose from at an american restaurant, however, my dish arrived looking hands down delicious!!! Generous in portion and deliciously appealing, the scrumptious chicken was perfectly breaded all layed upon a beautiful bed of sauteed diced tomato’s and spinage! The blue crab and artichoke stuffing sandwiched between the two chicken breast was extremely delightful and the flavor of the sauteed tomato’s and spinage complimented the chicken beautifully! It was cooked well and seasoned perfectly My hun loved his chicken and steak and it appeared that everyone else was impressed with there meals as well. Overall, fun lively atmosphere, Decent yummy food and friendly yet subpar service.

Even though it is related, to me it wasn’t as good as a Gordon Biersch. Even still, beers were good and the food was good and service was pretty even too. Definately one of the bigger/nicer locations on the main street. They have some variety on what is on TVs as well. The night I was there, they had Stanley Cup finals on one and a basketball game on the other, and there were fans of both, so good to offer some variety.

Can I PLEASE move to Nashville! I seriously love this city and would do anything to live here! I was here on business and not familiar with the area. It was a client dinner and everything we ordered was amazing. The only thing I didn’t see on the menu was Yuengling… Probably because its a brewery, but I love Yuengling and will always order it when I get the chance, as I can’t get it in Dallas. Great Food, Great Service, Great Beer, Great Atmosphere. Pretty good place in my book!

Great patio… decent food… service could have been better. While staying in downtown Nashville we asked our hotel concierge to recommend a place with a patio for late lunch. She directed us to Big River Grille. The place was packed at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. We placed our request to sit outside and were told it would be a 15 minute wait. We then headed to the bar and ordered a few beers. The bartender was not exactly rude but not very friendly either. She seemed annoyed when we asked a few simple questions about the handcrafted beers. I ordered the 16th Avenue Pilsner while my buddy ordered the Southern flyer Light lager. I’ve sampled my fair share of craft beers and thought both were pretty good. Before we knew it our table was ready. The server brought menus right away but was very slow to return to the table. When she finally returned I forgave her for the delay because she was so darn sweet. We were both sold on the fish tacos based on her recommendation. We also ordered guacamole as an appetizer. The guacamole came out quickly and I could tell that the chips were fried in house. Big plus! The fish tacos were beautiful. I can’t say that I’ve ever had a taco constructed with a crunchy shell wrapped in a flour tortilla. I would have preferred one or the other because having both overwhelmed my pallet a bit and distracted from the flavors tucked inside. The Mahi-mahi was good and I really enjoyed the avocado remoulade sauce.

Big River Grille was gracious enough to sit our party of 13 without a reservation with only a minor wait so that was a fantastic start to our dining experience. I started with the beer sampler. The amount that you got for the price was a STEAL. I really enjoyed all of the beers but stuck with the Seasonal for another couple of pints. The Pepper Jack Chicken Nachos were recommended by a friend and they didn’t fail to deliver. Tons of toppings and plenty of food that was a great appetizer for our table of 7. For my «entrée» I had the wedge salad and the Pork sliders. I was really pleased with both. Flavorful and fresh. Our server was fantastic and patient with a large group of first time visitors. I will definitely return to Big River Grille on my next trip to Nashville. Thanks for a great experience!

The atmosphere is nice but the food here was sub par. My husband got the shrimp and grits — he ranked it a 4:10, and I got the Tuscan chicken fettucini and it was runny and cold. I gave mine a 5:10 since mine had some potential to have been saved from such embarrassment. On a small good note, the restaurant space was ample, plenty of tv’s for the sport goers and there was nice patio for people to enjoy the great climate of Nashville. I really liked the personality of our waiter — he brought out our flight of beer and he knew everything about all of them! Super impressed! However, he was very slow to attend and hard to find during our meal. I don’t think I would come back or recommend this place for anyone visiting Nashville(like us!) but perhaps it would be a good place if your bored of TGIF and the like.

Maybe I was hungry, or a little drunk from my Sweet Magnolia Brown Ale, but I really enjoyed my Hickory River burger at Big River. Its in the heart of downtown though, and so on Friday evenings, its hopping! Parking is expensive, and far away. It’s likely you’ll have to cope with«creepy guy who wants your 10 dollars». I was there for a Birthday party, but I probably wouldn’t make a special trip. I wouldn’t turn away a chance to go there. They were also more than happy to seat our party of 12.

Excellent! Big River has great beer, great food, and great service. The award winning brown ale lives up to its reputation, and you will easily find something to like on the extensive food menu. I went with a pizza, and it was great. Very tasty dough(they use some of the brown ale in the dough), and high quality cheese and toppings. My co-workers got chicken piccata, the wurst platter, and fish tacos. Everyone said their food was great. Easily the best meal we’ve had in the Nashville area all week. There is easy parking right across the street, and Big River has a large outdoor dining area. The inside is spacious and clean with a large bar area. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Even with a packed restaurant, our food and drinks came fast, and we never had to wait for a refill of that delicious brown ale. Fantastic!

I was pretty impressed by the Big River Grille. I did find out it’s a chain, so that disappointed me a bit, but overall I enjoyed the beer and food, plus our service was excellent! We ordered the Cobb Salad and the SW Chicken Salad. Both our salads were huge and topped with everything imaginable. Props to the Cobb Salad which actually included all the makings of a Cobb plus was chopped up as it should be(too many restaurants just throw a pile of things on top of a bed of lettuce). I also enjoyed my Magnolia Beer. For having such a flowery name, it had quite a punch! It was dark like a stout but still went down smoothly like an Ale. We were sat quickly and the atmosphere is appropriate for a brewing chain. It was a worth-while stop.(-:

Had a reservation for a group of 14. Got there around 7:40pm on Monday. Lots of TVs where we could easily watch Monday Night Football. Our server quickly came and took our drink orders. She walked us through all the specials. Had the Grilled Salmon. Cooked well with lots of flavor. Others had the Pretzel Salmon as part of the Oktoberfest menu which according to my party was awesome. Didn’t have the steak but would keep an eye if you do. Some the steaks served throughout the restaurant looked dried out. Definitely will be back.

This place is pretty good. The liquor menu is pretty vast with a wide variety of martini’s and other drinks. I ordered the mojito and it was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the fish tacos to eat and it came out looking great. I think it was talapia served inside a fried blue tortilla shell and out lightly crisped white tortilla. it came with a side of black beans and spanish rice. The beans were great, but sadly the fish was overcooked. It tasted fine in the whole of the taco, but the fish was pretty firm. I would suggest this place to those visiting Nashville. It’s not the best but definitely gets the job done.

Big River is a good bet when you’re with a group, as there will be something for everyone. Everything I’ve had here has been decent, with some things being outstanding. I am particularly fond of the hazelnut crusted chicken, which comes with cheddar mashed potatoes and vegetables(I always request green beans). The cherry sauce that comes on top is delicious and complements the rest of the plate. I would come back time and again just for that chicken. I am not a beer person, unless it’s Guinness, but many I’ve been with have truly enjoyed the beer flight. It gives you a small taste of each of their beers so you can choose which one(s) you like best. Alcohol-wise, I am partial to their pineapple mojito.(Although the last one I had had a bit too much mint and was on the bitter side. Usually they are sweet and refreshing.)

The homemade root beer was pretty good, but the food was disappointing. I had the gorgonzola pear salad, and it was the most bland salad I’ve ever eaten. The chicken was burned(perhaps meant to be charred but the mark was missed) and the dressing was flavorless. My friend’s burger was also quite bland, even with nature’s tasty treat, bacon. It was nice to eat outside and people watch, but I wouldn’t eat here again.

Dinner on a Saturday night at Big River Grille & Brewing Works was less than impressive. I had high hopes since I had a pleasant experience at another location in Chattanooga but unfortunately Big River Grille & Brewing Works didn’t deliver. Here’s the breakdown: Pro’s: 1) The Blackened Mahi sandwich was excellent(~$ 11). It was cooked to perfection and the Cajun sauce drizzled on top danced eloquently with the cut of fish fillet. Cole slaw and french fries were the sides. 2) We dined with a larger party and the hostesses were incredibly accommodating when we showed up a bit early. Our table was ready with menus. 3) They have after dinner mints on the way out. I am a sucker for mints after dinner. Con’s: 1) The service. The rumor is true, the wait staff needs to get its act together. After being the first to arrive, we were not checked on at all for at least 10 minutes and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Even more aggravating was the hoards of servers chatting around in corners by the kitchen that frequently made eye contact but did nothing. The server we ended up getting had a major attitude problem and was completely unhelpful when food recommendations were requested. 2) Cocktail pricing. I ordered a Flirtini which was yummy, however, it cost almost as much as my sandwich at a whopping $ 8.50. Seriously? I mean that is almost $ 2.25 a sip. 3) The bathrooms were disgusting! Each stall had a different fragrance some like smelly diaper, some like urine. Overall, the pricing was moderate and I wasn’t feeling the correlation between price and portion size, but there was a wide variety for a small microbrew. I don’t think Big River would be a place I would seek out on my own.
