I bought a Groupon for a gel mani, and my nails turned out awful. First of all, there was only one employee in the small salon in a random strip mall. The person who did my nails, while being easy to talk to and very nice, was doing someone’s hair when I got there. She’s not specifically a nail technician. There was a limited number of gel colors to choose from, and the station was not as clean as I would expect from a «high end» salon.
She also didn’t have me wear gloves to protect my skin from the UV rays of the gel drying machine.
But worse of all, one day after the manicure, all of these brown spots and lines appeared over my nails. I think the brush she used was contaminated. My cuticles were messy, and it basically looked worse than if I had just painted my nails myself. Not a good deal, and not an elegant or relaxing salon.
