Really fun place to stay! The owner is very hospitable. My flight was delayed and I arrived around 2:30 am, called the number on the door, and Allen came to let me in and get me situated! This is the kind of place you go to enjoy the beautiful evenings, read a book on the porch, and talk with locals. Also, there are a few towns nearby, but I really enjoyed staying in Narrows. Charming and friendly. There are a surprising number of things to do in town(bluegrass at Anna’s, the duck pond, the river).

Frightening. Bizarre. You have been warned. We booked two nights, but left after the first, too frightened to stay another night in a room with no locks. We stayed in the Queen Suite, which was two nursing home or hospital rooms joined together. The rooms, with doors large enough to wheel a bed through,(though without a handicap accessible bathroom,) are wired up with nurse call boxes, including the bathroom, but the call box strings were cut, the plumbing mains for the building run exposed through the rooms, they did not provide a bath mat, there was no mattress pad beneath the thin sheet, and worst of all, the doors had no internal locks. The only lock on the door was the keyed handle which opens to anyone with the key, and the only thing holding the door closed was the fact that someone had bent the striker plates so that the latch touched them. The chains on the inside of both room doors were broken, but oddly, left dangling from the inside of the doors.

Character & charm!!! Had a lovely time after a last minute trip without reservations – the MacArthur Inn was perfect. Also not a far drive for Virginia Tech football games! Win Win!
