Wheatland Animal Hospital

I am the most apprehensive to take my pets into the vet. I did work for one many years ago and learned much about the business. From the techs, office staff to the veterinarian itself found this place very professional & very compassionate. We had a cat 16 plus who all of a sudden became ill and would not eat. Dr. Maggie who is the newest vet helped us deterimine what should be done. We did many tests and the x-​rays pointed to something not good. With much effort of trying this and that, we decided to euthanize. It was a hard process, but with Dr. Maggie & staff did make it a little easier to swallow. My other companion cat then became ill which I believe up till now is a depression. She saw everything that was happening to the companion cat here at home and withdrew the day the cat was left at the vet overnight. I brought her in yesterday to have an x-​ray & blood tests. X-​rays came out well, still waiting on the blood work that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully not all gloom & doom. I continue to work with my surviving cat until we know what we are going up against. I would trust this vet for any future visits. Doubt if we’ll ever get a pet again due to the hurt & pain it causes. Lost too many pets, one feral cat that we had over 6 years and was ever so cherished almost a year ago to the day. I cannot take another heartbreak.

I AM LIVID!!! I changed vets because our previous animal hospital was sold and the service was getting kind of crappy. I received many great recommendations for the Wheatland Animal Hospital so I decided to try them out. I walked in and immediately the front office had an indescribable demeanor. I chalked it up to she was having a bad day and moved on. I was escorted into a room quickly. The WONDERFUL nurse (she was very sweet) came in to do the initial exam. Doctor Reed came and and looked at Rocky and told me what MIGHT be the problem. I had called the day before and received the price for the office visit ($ 55) and x-​ray ($ 88), knowing he would need an x-​ray. Doctor Reed told me (non-nonchalantly)that they were going to sedate him for the x-​ray. I thought nothing of it, never had a dog who needed x-​rays before so whatever. I did ask why did he needed to be sedated. I told them although he is 115 pounds he’s extremely docile. After the x-​ray the doctor showed me what the problem was and the nurse gave me the medication… NO PROBLEM. I was escorted to the front desk again where I was ready to pay and the woman said «that’s going to be $ 421.00». UMMM WHAT!!! I proceeded to tell her that I called yesterday… blah blah and she said yes but he was sedated $ 85, an extra x-​ray was taken $ 58 and an reversal sedation was given $ 27. Not one time did the doctor or nurse go over any prices with me before the procedures. I figured that the sedation was including in the price of the x-​ray i thought it was routine… I didn’t know and no one informed me of prices BEFOREHAND! He did not tell me there would be an extra x-​ray, nor did i know anything about reverse sedation??? The receptionist asked if I wanted to talk to the business office manager regarding a payment plan,.sure. In the midst of talking with the business manager apparently the receptionist told her I was upset. REALLY!!! YOU THINK??? I guess she figured I was an angry stupid black woman and needed to be taken into a room and talked to calmly. We talked I told her what happened and she said well i’ll talk to the doctor and get his side and call you on Monday. There is no his side. She talked to me in a very calming voice, mind you I never raised my voice, caused a scene or went ghetto (AS THEY SURELY EXPECTED ME TO). I called yesterday to get a price and this was not the price. My husband (who is white) came to the office to inquire about what happened but I had left. The business manager, Joann, told my husband that I was mistaken and that the doctor did tell me there were going to be extra x-​rays and some other B. S!!! When I finally paid on the agreed amount from yesterdays phone call, I asked the receptionist if this happens often she said no it really doesn’t. OHHHHH so it’s just me!!! To make things crazier I was escorted out of the back door. I have a MASTERS DEGREE FROM DEPAUL UNIVERSITY, I graduated from Mother McAuley High School and graduated from Morgan Park Academy elementary with Alderman Burkes’ son as well as Alderman Sawyers’ son and several other (now) high ranking officials. I am far from STUPID, GHETTO, ANGRY and LOUD. They stereotyped me before I even opened up my mouth. They need to work with more people outside of their race. I have never been so appalled as I was today with this office. DISGRACEFUL, SAD and whats wrong with our country today!
I gave them the one star due to the 2 sweet nurses that helped me AND that they cut Rocky’s nails and didnt charge me for that!

Do not use this vet!!! Keep reading below! Dont let them threaten you! Thats a lawsuit in itself… I know! REPORT THEM TO FDPR! Btw. now I have 7 Vet opinions. No tylenol to animals!!! I even questioned him on this and he said trust me! Never trust a manipulator who says trust me. (Chris)My pet declined rapidly thereafter. Then they prescibed steriods (Dr. Peters prescribed them after knowing her kidneys were in trouble although he couldnt understand why Chris prescribed my animal tylenol he said dont give that to her anymore… too late) to pets who supposedly have cushings and kidney disease steriods Are Not given to pets with cushings. Btw. First 2 test wheatland diagnosed my animal with cushings she did not have it. (Dr. Faith) Therefore, was given a toxic med for something she didnt have at the time again!!! To Anna… glad ur friends with Dr. C.Btw. how do u know him? Why would anna see wheatland is shes a vet and lives in Indiana? Nice try. Wow, if what they did to my pet doesnt give u red flags this should. She should be investigated as well as Chris! You live in Layayette, IN? How dare u! I have all the proof records and other vets telling me what was done was toxic. The only fault I have with my babygirl is taking her to a moron! How dare u! My child is gone due to incompetence. My grief is real and if anyone sues its me sweetheart! Everyone is interesred in this! So, mind ur business when u know absolutely nothing and take care of ur own. Doesnt matter how it was written. I have the proof. other vets and he knows what he did! So should others! Btw. the only ignorant persons here is you and the Dr. Himself! Maybe u should stop harrassing me before u get sued! U can sue me but u will only acquire debt baby! I was a great parent and for u to say I shouldnt have a pet screw u, ur evil and will burn in hell! How dare u! Ur sick! U must be great friends with him and extremely bored with ur life! You are disgusting to ever say that to anyone after a big loss or to say that period! Ur sick! I rescued my dog from a bad situation, treated her like a queen ! She was/​is loved more than words can say and sometimes I overprotected her. How dare u? And ur a vet? Folks another example of who not to take ur pet to. The most disgusting, vile, insensitive thing ive heard Ever! She was my baby, I did everything for her and im grieving immensley! My life revolved around her. She came first! This Anna women is friends with Dr. C and obviously a sick individual. She knows nothing! I have proof that would make all your heads spin! Your threats dont work here Anna. You should think about what you say as a so called professioanl because what you have said to me is not only a threat but defamation. Again, folks and shes a so called Vet! Please do your due diligence before you pick a Dr. For your babies! Please listen folks. Dr. Chris said to have wine before injecting my pet with fluids. What? Im not lying! Are u kidding me? Thats his way be very very careful! To Elise… yes Joanne was fake to me and lied about sending me my dogs records. I did not believe her so stayed until they handed them to me. some things were altered which not only I could see but a lawyer as well. Shady facility!!! For sure! No condolences, no apology! Every other ER and vet sent me cards and even refunds as a condolence. When they are guilty they hide! And I concur except for Karen the staff is snotty middle aged women who are disgustingly rude and act like you are causing them an inconvienence by being there! Folks dont be scared of their threats. This is what Unilocal is for! They cant handle the proof and truth. If you have stories as well contact the FDPR. Folks know that I know for sure most not all are dr. Chris friends fake reviews. Already had 1 removed.

I would seriously give 10 stars if I could! Big Booty (aka: Butkus) a week after his ACL surgery and he is doing great! It’s healing up well and hair is sprouting back over his turkey leg (shaved his whole leg)! They took the utmost care of my special friend and I am the happiest owner for them. Naperville is lucky to have this animal hospital.

Everyone who works here is extremely caring and kind. The vet was extremely loving towards my dog and very knowledgeable. We had a great trip here! Thank you for making us feel comfortable and welcomed.

I have been so happy with Wheatland Animal Clinic! They are so helpful and answer all my questions whenever I call on the phone. They’ve been fantastic with our previous dog throughout her life & at the end and then wonderful with our current dog since she was 9 weeks old. Dr Chris and Dr Brian are the best!

I have 3 dogs that are patients at this clinic. I was very impressed with the clinic and Dr. Chris. One of my dogs had been unsuccessfully treated for ear infections and allergies at another clinic (where I worked by the way). After evaluation by Dr. Chris and a new medication, the allergies are under control. The clinic is extremely clean and doesn’t smell. The Technicians are friendly and competent. I would highly recommend this practice!

The vets and tech assistants at Wheatland are all extremely caring, friendly people. My dog has been seen by Dr. Roger Dupuis, Dr. Faith, Dr. Peters, and Dr. Chris Dupuis over the course of almost 7 years. We made an emergency visit yesterday after he ate 8 ounces of high cocoa content truffles. Both Dr. Peters and Dr. Dupuis, and three tech assistants helped him through his mini-​crisis. They also calmed my son, who was quite nervous about his dog’s wellbeing. We were in and out within a few hours, and our dog is showing no ill effects whatsoever. I trust this team of veterinarians completely, and I know that they’ll always treat my dog gently and with respect. I would never consider switching practices.

We started bringing our older cat here in February of 2012. She developed chronic diarrhea right before our move here from California the month before. Dr. Reed has been wonderful working with us to manage this illness. He listens carefully, is thoughtful in his decisions about what medications or diet changes to try, understands the realities of life (like trying to feed a special diet to just one cat in a two cat household), and is very compassionate. He is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up on the latest research. Despite having lost a lot of weight, with Dr. Reed’s help, our cat is still here and still has a good quality of life two and a half years later. The rest of the staff is extremely helpful and prompt and courteous. I can’t think of anything more that this business could do to serve pet owners better.

Dr. Peters and the entire staff is about as good as it gets. Its never a good day when you realize that your cat may need medical attention but Dr. Peters was very reassuring with every step of the process. I came in Monday late afternoon for an exam for my cat that was lethargic with some vomiting. He put me at ease when it was recommended that I leave him overnight for IV fluids and rest. Dr. Peters was even nice enough to bring me back into their back room to show me his X-​Ray and to show me why he was concerned with his small intestine. I really appreciated that because sometimes you can only picture so much when someone is explaining something to you. It was definitely a quiet night at our house but I knew he was in good hands.
Dr. Peters called first thing Tuesday morning to keep me updated on his condition and that I would be able to come pick him up that evening. He looked like he felt so much better since the night before. Again, Dr. Peters was just so kind to explain how his hospitalization went and some after care for when I took him home. Even better, my bill was about $ 175 less than the estimate they had given me the night prior, score!
Just 12 hours later, Jerry is back to his playful self and even has his full appetite back!
Thank you Dr. Peters for your hard work! We are very happy to have our little boy back to normal.

I’ve been taking my dog to Wheatland Animal Hospital for a little over 3 years. I have always had great experiences, no matter which doctor we see. We have seen Dr. Chris, Dr. Faith, and Dr. Peters over the years and all have been wonderful to work with. The vet techs have always been very friendly and personable as well, it seems they really love what they do!

We have been going to Wheatland Animal Hospital for 15 years. We started when we got our puppy (Coton de Tulear) We have had a great experience with all the doctors but Dr. Faith has been the primary Vet for us. He is extremely compassionate and very caring. Our first dog went to Dr. Faith for her entire life. We now have another Coton and I would not go anywhere else. You just know an animal lover when you see them. I can’t say enough good about these individuals. Highly Recommend This Practice.

I took my min pin here after a disaster at another vet office. I LOVE it. They promptly took care of him and were currently on the road to recovery! Dr. Peters is so nice, he sincerely cared about our serious issue and provided us with top notch care. Their techs & staff are phenomenal also. I called in tears because I was so upset & worried about my dog & his mistreated first visit at the other vet & Cynthia got me an appointment ASAP. 110% recommended vet office!

We have been taking our dogs to Wheatland Animal Hospital for years. Every vet we have ever worked with has been very knowledgeable, friendly and caring. They are great with everything from checkups and shots to emergency surgery that was required when my parent’s golden ate some Christmas ornaments.

Life kind of got in the way so I gave my cat to my parents. My parent’s cat and my sister’s cat have been going to Wheatland for the last 12+ yrs. Great staff… you can tell it’s a great office b/​c everyone that works there genuinely seem to like working there. We usually see Dr. Chris. Smart, nice, and very professional… and most importantly, very ethical. Try these guys out… you won’t be disappointed.

Really enjoy the Vet services they provide. They have a complimentary «Puppy Seminar» and they are very accommodating for scheduling. Whenever we see Dr Chris, he always spends quality time with us and our dog and we never feel rushed and always get our questions answered.

Dr Reed is such a good vet, I followed him from a previous vet.
I wouldn’t trust any other vet with my dogs, He is so caring. He is a vet for almost any animal. He has given my dogs surgery before. And just recently, he gave surgery on two of my three dogs. And I’m pretty certain that without him, My pimi would not have made it. It was a very serious surgery, So I can’t thank him enough. And if you take your pets to him you are in good hands. The prices at this vet are actually a lot less than others.
