Disappointing! Was here during summer with friends and cousins visiting from Germany and had a great time! So decided to come back to celebrate my birthday last night, huge mistake! We were there maybe 40 minutes and a bouncer randomly walks up to our table and tells my friend he needs to leave because he’s been throwing up all night? First of all we weren’t there all night, second my friend was drinking ice water no alcohol and never left the table so why is the bouncer even making these accusations? I asked the guy what are you doing and he ripped my drink from my hand and told me he was doing his job and I better shut up or he will have me arrested. He threw all of us out! I have never seen anything like this! Outside a girl that was inside earlier told me that the same bouncer asked her if anyone was bothering her because he was bored and wanted to take care of some business. So I guess there’s the reason he kicked us out… a bored short bouncer with little man syndrome on a power trip! I will call management today but from what I’ve read on other reviews, I don’t think they will care. Myself and everyone in my group will be sure never to come here again. Oh and thanks for ruining my birthday Two-Nine!

Two-nine is a cool place to go in Naperville. All of the wire artwork is amazing and you can really spend a lot of time looking at it! I’ve been here when it’s crowded and when it’s empty. Being crowded can be cool because so many people get up and dance and start having fun! But being empty is okay too because the bartenders are friendly and you can all sit around and have a nice conversation. I would definitely recommend two-nine if you’re looking for a cool late-night spot in Naperville.

Went in and the facility was nice but the music destroyed a potentially chill atmosphere. Other reviews have made this a common theme so I don’t need to add to it. My main reason for writing this review is my extreme disappointment with the service and dishonest salesmanship. Upon sitting down my group was told what the night’s specials were, which included«$ 3 domestics.» I had a Blue Moon, thinking it was a fair price. When I got the tab, I noticed that I was charged $ 5 plus tax. I brought the mistake to the bartender’s attention, reminding him of the night’s special and he curtly responded, «Blue Moon’s not a domestic…» In defense, I replied, «Blue Moon is owned by the same company that owns Coors and is brewed in Colorado. How is it not a domestic?» He gave me an incredibly inconsiderate answer that essentially communicated that I was SOL. I understand that a difference in classification can be argued, but the menu made it extremely misleading. Blue Moon was listed with all the other American beers, but was the only American beer that was not in the end considered to be a domestic. If being ripped off is your idea of a fun night out, please consider this lounge.

I’d compare the courtesy level of the staff/management here to a hippopotamus, that is to day they’re incredibly rude. They’re also as stubborn as a mule, digging in to their position when they know they’re wrong and lying to your face about it, bordering on becoming accusatory. TLDR now that I’m done with the animal related metaphors — don’t go here, staff is rude, place is too small. Plenty of better bars in Naperville.

The décor in this bar is great and the martinis are as well… It *would* be a great place for a after date drink or a girls night but the music is so loud you can’t hear the person next to you. It is an incredibly small room with one small bar area above Potters, a Mexican restaurant,(random) — so get there early if you want a booth to sit at. I come here for one drink, and leave to go elsewhere. Def not a place you’d like to stay at all night.

Been here a number of times now. Love the décor. Just get rid of the damn DJ. I couldn’t hear the person I was talking to a foot away from me. If this was a club then I wouldn’t give a flying rats ass. But it’s not like people were even dancing. We left because conversation wasn’t going to happen.

This place confuses me. When you walk in, you see intricate lighting, a woven ceiling piece with wine glasses hanging from it, and a long dark leather booth with little tables– reads«sexy lounge», but then on the weekends(only time I’ve ever been there) they have a DJ playing loud techno music. It doesn’t seem to match. Otherwise, I do like this place. The interior is cool, bathroom has the same kind of vibe, and they have an outdoor balcony, which is really nice to enjoy when its warm out. The drink prices don’t make sense to me. I ordered two mixed drinks which cost $ 14. Next round I ordered 4 of their mystery shot and a pineapple upside-down cake martini(very good, recommended!!), which was also $ 14. It seemed backward that the martini would cost a dollar less than the regular mixed drinks, but I suppose I shouldn’t complain about that. They’re pretty efficient here in taking drink orders, and addressing everyone. It’s my biggest pet peeve when they look right at you, then past you to someone else for a drink, which thankfully was not the case here. The bouncers were all relatively friendly(as much as they could be), but they definitely know how to keep things in order. They even obliged us in lighting the candles on the table when we asked, something they easily could’ve blown off. It just is a small space, so it does get really crowded. My friend got a drink spilled on her, and people are not afraid to shove past you to get by. Otherwise, ok experience.

I feel like this place needs two reviews, a review before 10pm and a review after 10pm. If it was before, I’ll give it a 4. If it’s after 10, I’ll give it a 1. This is a personal preference. When I go to a bar, I like to relax, chill, and really mellow out. If a place is dimly lit, with low music or ambient music, I’ll be happy with a drink in hand and a nice conversation. That pretty much describes Two-Nine before 10pm. After 10pm, a DJ shows up and plays obnoxiously loud club music, not unusual for a bar/club, but I will explain why I don’t like this. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m in the right mood, the club scene can be fun. It’s not typically my place, but I can be totally cool with it. As for Two-Nine, the club scene does not belong here. Two-Nine is a second floor bar. Every time we bring friends, some even from the Naperville area, their reaction is always the same, they had no idea it was even there and that they wouldn’t have even guessed that there was actually something there. You go upstairs and feel like you’re entering a secret place that needs to be kept that way. At the top of the stairs, you are greeted by an amazing and elaborate root like structure that grows out of the top of the staircase and completely covered the bar ceiling and stretches out to the opposite wall. The roots are made of metal but it’s hard to determine that. Another thing that adds to the mystique of this place is that it’s small. There are only a few tables and a very small outdoor porch that overlooks the outdoor area of potters place. The place is dimly lit and you can sit back and relax and really enjoy the whole experience. When you see this atmosphere, you want to preserve it. It’s the DJ, the loud music, and the loud crowd that completely ruins Two-Nine. It does not make sense that those things are there and these things usually show up around 10pm. I can’t stand the place after all the crap shows up. There is a «dance floor» if you can even call it that in front of a small table that the DJ sets up in the back by the deck. The floor can’t be more than 8×8 feet. Crowds flood the small walkway between the bar and the dance floor and in the summer, the porch is completely packed. It has always been standing room only after 10pm. You could hardly believe that the chill and the mystique of Two-Nine actually existed before the dance party starts. It’s a real shame. They have moderately priced drinks and they are pretty good. I guess you can consider it a martini bar and they are quite good. Service is another opposite at this place. Before 10pm, the service matches the look. They are pretty cool and attentive. Once the crowds pack in and the music starts, forget it. You’re better off expecting gross dive bar service. The best drink they can make you after 10pm is a bottled beer and they may even mess that up. After 10pm you may see your server once every 45 minutes. If you want a cool bar experience, check out Two-Nine before 10pm. If you want a club experience, don’t even consider this place.

So I went to Two-Nine for the first time with my college friends a while back. I was meeting up with them late on a Friday night and we sat at one of their high-top tables and chatted for a few hours. At the time, I was 22 years old and less than a year out of college so the atmosphere didn’t really bother me all that much. However. Last night I went back and had a very different reaction. I met up with one of the same friends and another college friends downstairs at Potter’s Place for some Mexican food(oh. my. gee. So good) and afterwards Sean and I went to Two-Nine to have some more conversation. Wrong choice. After sitting down with our beers(there was a $ 3.00 Corona special) we started talking more. One of the first things Sean said was, «I think this place has a Satanic vibe. Maybe that’s why I like it»(Bear in mind, he’s in love with tailored clothing and sports a Don Draper ‘Do). Although funny, his comment was oddly true. The walls are a bare brick with red lighting and weird vine accents that give have the effect of being underground even though you’re on the second story. I also noticed that once I began talking, my voice was reverberating in my chest(think talking into a fan… fun when you’re being silly. Not fun when you’re trying to have a serious conversation). The music was that loud. Now I’m not one to be a fuddy-duddy when it comes to the«hip» new things the kids are into these days. But I’m 23 and this was an ID-only bar. So I had to ask myself: what the Hell was the point of that? The music is loud at a lot of bars, yes. However those bars usually have a large open area some people call a «dance floor» where patrons can dance. What was missing from this migraine-nightmare was the dance floor. I couldn’t hear Sean talking to me from a foot away. I can’t describe how much I wanted to leave. The only thing that kept me sitting in that room was the company. Maybe it just wasn’t my thing, but I can’t describe how frustrated I was by my experience there. Even the other patrons made me uncomfortable. If you’re there for a girl’s night, make it a bachelorette party or some kind of 21st celebration. It’s not for normal conversation or catching up.

Great place for a small to medium size gathering or a date. Bartenders are very good and friendly. Great drinks prices and Martinis. Love the bathroom and the overlook of Potters in the summer. Last time I was there, Colin served us at the bar. Very nice guy and knew how to keep a crowd happy.

By far my favorite place to go in Downtown Naperville. The atmosphere reminds me of lounges in downtown Chicago, the staff is always super friendly and attentive even when the bar is packed I’ve never had an issue getting a drink. I love when the weather is warm that they have an outdoor balcony. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and an all around nice place to hang out with my friends.

Talk about a BAD Margarita! Tasted like country time lemonade with salt! Yuk! And the chips were stale and the salsa mundane. Very disappointing

I came here for the first time tonight for one of my friend’s birthday’s and was impressed for the most part. The atmosphere was probably top tier for downtown Naperville. The ambiance, music, décor, location and everything for this martini bar was perfect, and very impressive. The drink specials were good too, especially for a Friday night! $ 5 special martini’s(tonight was pineapple upside down cake– delicious!!!) $ 3 domestics and $ 5 glasses of wine. We went to Lou Malnati’s for dinner earlier(see my review) so we didn’t order any appetizers, but it’s nice to know they have food if you get hungry. The food is mexican, from the restaurant Potter’s place downstairs. The staff was nice, and the service was efficient and quick for the most part. This is a great place to come with a group of friends for a chill night, or to try something different than the typical bar scene.

When this place isn’t packed with people, it’s actually a very cute little date night location that’s well hidden. I’ve come here a few times and it’s always hit or miss, but it’s worth stopping by on your bar crawls in Naperville. They started doing $ 2 shots from an unknown paper bagged bottle(probably the stuff they can’t sell and are trying to get rid of), which can be dangerous if the shot is good! Even if it’s not that great, you can’t pass up a $ 2 shot! There is a balcony in the back that is open during the warm season, but once it starts getting cold out it gets a lot more packed because there is no room left. If you don’t want to feel like a sardine, this may not be the place for you, but with that being said, you still have to go check it out for the classy atmosphere.

Ugh, what the f’nazzle?! Went here for the first time last night, and disappointment is an understatement. The only reasons this place gets two stars are for 1) the Dj was awesome and 2) the atmosphere, though small, was cute and lounge-y. I’m pretty bummed I paid $ 5 for a Blue Moon, and it wasn’t even draft. Terrible. Never coming here again, unless I’ve got enough booze in me to not spend a penny at this joint.

I love this place, its got a very cool atmosphere, awesomely decorated and a diverse crowd. I see people from 21 to 40s and everyone there is just fun! It is a nice martini bar in downtown Naperville that looks classy without all the pretension. The staff is super friendly, drinks are awesome, music is always good and the place is just an all out good time! This is by far my favorite place to go in Naper!

This place is a refreshing change from the usual downtown Naperville scene. It’s small and personal and it has both a dance floor and balcony over looking Porters so you get to enjoy the band without the congestion of downstairs. It can get a little cramped when its super packed but that has only happened on a few occasions. I would recommend this place to start your night or to hang there throughout.

yawn. The crowd is a mixture of 19 year olds and 40 year old women celebrating their 40th and probably their 3rd divorce on the weekends. During the week they have good drink specials

My first impression of Two-Nine: a couple of really well-dressed middle-aged guys leaving with a disgusted frown that said«no ass tonight.» Upstairs, expect the blandest, most approachable club music this side of creation. Drinks are tasty, and my husband gave a firm nod to the gin martini. Old school. Mine, ehhh, weak, but still delicious. I’ve read a few reviews(non-yelp) likening it to a Wicker Park spot. I think, not sure, but I THINK exposed brick and wrought iron décor can be had just about anywhere. It feels nothing like WP and I don’t think it tries to be. I get more of a college town feel, where the students mix with the older townies.

I really give this place 3.5 stars. I don’t love this place, I don’t hate, I just end up here every once in a while. Two-Nine is located upstairs of Potters Place. It is a pretty cool martini lounge. They have this copper tubing that spreads out over the ceiling of this place that makes it look like vines and is quite visually stunning. On the weekends, this place is usually packed(well, this is not the biggest bar either). They usually are playing house music and the crowd is what you would find at Features. The service can also be slow at times. But overall, it’s a pretty good place and the drinks are good too. I like this place a lot more over the summer when the patio is open. There is a bar back there too so it is a little easier getting drinks. If there is a band playing at Potter’s Place, this is the best view. Drink Specials: Wednesday: All Martinis on Menu $ 5.00 Thursdays: Vodka Drinks $ 3.00
