Worst door«boys» in Naperville. Went there with a large group of friends on a trolley tour and was denied entry because my head covering meant that I was affiliated with a gang. No dress code posted, no manners offered, not one ounce of respect for a disabled veteran was given. Would definitely recommend to anyone… go spend your money somewhere else. Kyle, Andres and Tyler(if actual names)…I wonder if management applauds your horrible attitudes and bully — like mentality?

This place is crap. I live nearby and have dropped in to meet friends. I don’t know how it’s in business. If I owned the place, I’d fire the entire management staff and redo the menu and retrain the employees. The Manager, is lucky to have a job. He must be in the owner’s family or something because I can’t fathom how he keeps his job given the animosity the community seems to have towards this place. So much more potential than is being realized. The main issue is the bouncers and the wait time for service.

I’ve only eaten here thrice, but it has made its way to my favorite restaurant in Illinois(including Chicago). That’s how much I like it. The building is unique, with 2 floors and a rooftop patio. Romantic in the evening! The drink menu is exquisite! A large variety of options to choose from. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and so far, everything that my date and I had ordered confirmed this. Presentation of the food is gorgeous! Lastly, the service has been top-notch so far.

My boyfriend went on a Monday during lunch time. I got steak medallions and he got a burger. I was not impressed at all with the steak, the gravy it was in was way too over powering but his burger was the best we’ve ever had! We ordered a couple beers and the NEW partner in the restaurant came out to tell me the best way to have my beer. We were more than pleased to talk beer with him. Our waiter was awesome, he’s helped me many times when I go in for my lunch break. Also, my boyfriends burger was a by over done so they re-made a new burger and gave it to us for free! This will be a place that we go often!

Came about 8:45 for dinner and drinks. Ordered salads and BBQ chicken flatbread which was good. 2 stars for the food and the yummy champagne cocktail. After about an hour and a half we became one of 3 small tables on the floor yet we literally sat almost 45 minutes waiting for our waitress. More than once. While listening to horrible 70’s music over the intercom and a rattling heating unit we finally could hear the exciting music come on downstairs. That was at 10. Finally at almost 10:45 the person with me had to go to the bar and ask to close our bill. With 3 tables it’s completely unacceptable.

Review excludes feeling about the door guys cuz no matter which bar you go to in Naperville the door guys think they’re sooo cool and don’t have to treat anyone with the slightest bit of respect… but they sure expect it in return. If they only knew that ‘door guys’ have no pull in the real world. Anywho, the bar itself is a good time… music is always pretty good besides when they play random Latin songs… why?! Bar service is always good… bathrooms are in weird spots but never a line for the guys and always pretty clean.

Great service from Dan. Great food, too! I had the Sourdough Grilled Cheese and Boyfriend had the Shrimp Wedge Salad and a Salmon Slider.. We would definitely order all 3 again! Just the perfect amount of food.

Me and the hubs came here on a whim because we were walking by and saw that they had a rooftop patio. Seemed like a good time. Our food was alright. The star on our table was the loaded fries. The garlic Parmesan wings were not the best, but not the worst. I’d gotten a $ 5 Long Island iced tea that was weak but refreshing. The service was fine. Our waiter was also the bartender, but he did the best he could considering it got really busy halfway through our meal. The main issue was our table was extra wobbly. Our waiter tried to lodge something under it, but it just was not working. So I lodged my sandal under the edge, which worked but resulted in me having to stay that way. Also, one of the concrete tiles would seesaw every time that someone walked by. Every time that happened, my husband was thrown off balance, grabbing the table that was wobbly, and scraping the heck out of my saddle and coming this close to severing my toes. It made for a very entertaining meal. And the rooftop deck is very cool too.

I visited this restaurant recently for a dinner out with another foodie friend. We didn’t have a specific destination in mind in downtown Naperville — our only requirements this evening were fun cocktails and an area to eat outside. This place fit the bill with its rooftop seating and extensive beverage selection. We both chose one of the unique cocktails off the menu — they were not as sweet as many places make their drinks but they were yummy and refreshing. I would have been happy with any of the entrees but we decided to split a burger and the poblano chicken sandwich. Both were delicious — perfectly cooked, decadent and full of flavor. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. Overall it was a great experience and I plan to return!

In my opinion best bar in downtown Naperville. Bar is fairly large and plenty of tap beers. They have a dj and a decent dance floor for your girls night out. The only place that plays a good collection of hip hop music as that’s my style. If your looking to get your juke on and hang out with some bros this is your spot. If your looking to watch the hockey game and slam an pickle back hit up jimmy down the street. If you want bougie martini hit up 219. That’s just my input!

Looking for a place to watch a game or just chill out with friends on a nice Spring or Summer day? Wise Boxer fits the bill with your traditional dining room, bar, and even a rooftop bar. If you’re looking to go to the top, just be warned that you’ll have to walk up a good amount of stairs. Setting and service is good, and the staff seems to know what they’re talking about especially when recommending food options. Our party had the flatbread pizza to start and then some other dishes that were all decent. I had the Rio Grande Salad and couldn’t be more pleased with my selection. Overall a good spot that will meet the expectations of those in your party and a variety of places to enjoy a nice bite and hopefully a Chicago sports team win!

It was good place to watch a sports game and grab a bite to eat. I tried their chicken wings bbq and buffalo wing flavor it was okay. Nothing to write home about. Their idea of celery and carrots for the appetizer carrots and celery thinly julienned like a garnish. Only my toddler was attracted to eating that part of my dish. I didn’t get to try their juicy luicy but i’m sure it was good. The staff was good. I didn’t like how you had to walk a lot of stairs to get to their dining room area. It was too hot for us to eat outdoor roof patio. It is a small dining area for indoors. I personally wouldn’t go back to eat there because it’s not my style.

We ate here on a Friday evening around 7:00. It wasn’t too crowded considering its location. They seated us upstairs in a room that had a constant squeaking sound that was a little annoying. Fortunately the room was really loud with people talking so we barely noticed the sound. They have a good menu and a decent craft beer list. My husband and I both ordered a Three Floyds beer while the other couple had wine and a Sam Adams. I ordered the poblano chicken sandwich without the bacon(yes, I’m weird). It was huge! They really loaded it with lots of avocado, cheese and a poblano pepper. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. My hubby got a burger of some sort and really enjoyed it. Our friends also got sandwiches that they raved about. The service was good, overall it was a good experience!

I requested a booth when I made the reservation and was not seated in a booth when I arrived. I was going to ask to be moved but the hostess talked about other things the entire time we were going to the table… at that point I was happy to sit anywhere. Also, the server seemed a little slow. Maybe he had too many tables but was not able to get to our table very often. The food was great but the service could use some improvement. Overall– I might stop in for a drink if I’m in downtown Naperville… but I won’t rush here to have another meal.

Good bar food establishment in downtown Naperville. The rooftop deck is nice, as is the adjacent bar. Food is good(nachos, shrimp wedge salad with blackened shrimp) and overall atmosphere is good for lunch or a dinner in the all too brief warm weather months. I haven’t been in non-weather times during this incarnation or when it was Blackfin, but the menu was updated. Solid service as well.

OK, the atmosphere of the place is pretty nice with upstairs and downstairs seating areas. The upstairs area where we were sat was a tad too brightly lit for dinner or drinks. It was quite annoying actually. Our server was friendly, but knew nothing about the beers they had on tap, or even which beers they had on tap. When another employee, whom I think was the bartender, walked by, he had no clue really either. That was frustrating. We had the goat cheese appetizer. It came with herb host cheese, marinated red peppers, thin, pita-like, chips, roasted artichokes, and proscuito. It was served on an interesting, tall metal platter, which was actually a little too tall to reach the food easily from sitting in a both. But, it was quite tasty. I decided to eat light, and got a macaroni & cheese side dish(which was pretty big for a side, and not light, but I was thinking small in size), and a filet slider and a salmon slider. The Mac & cheese was definitely the best part. It’s wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, bit it was good and satisfying. It also reheated pretty well the next day. Both sliders had very little flavor, were over cooked to the point of being super dry, and the filet was not a descent cut at all(and I’m not expecting much from my slider meat). Also, any sauces or things on the sliders I couldn’t taste at all. Very, very dry and bland for both sliders. My husband got the brisket and smoked cheddar sandwich with fries. It was a larger sandwich, tasty(of course I tried some), and overall very cheesy and good meat flavor. Overall, the service was pretty bad, the lighting was obnoxiously bright, and the good was hit or miss, with nothing outstanding. Good for a few drinks I guess if the bartender knows what they even have on tap.

Great place in the heart of Downtown Naperville! The menu has a variety of options and it’s not your standard«pub food.» I’ve had the specials too and they are awesome! The two different levels(three when it’s warmer!) offer a change in scenery while still enjoying great music and drinks. Drink specials vary by day and the staff has always been courteous and accommodating. Booked a party there recently and everyone who attended had a wonderful time!

I’ve only been to The Wise Boxer during the day on the weekends for food and drink, so my review is based off of that. I basically have been steering clear of this place at night due to its predecessor before them — so not my scene. Too crowded, too violent, and too college. However, after my boozy lunch experience I should really give this place a try for a night spot. I was impressed! Totally different vibe than Black Finn. I was last in on a Sunday and was pleased to learn they have $ 4 bloody Mary’s complete with a full bar of toppings! Delish. I packed that beverage full of meats, cheeses, and celery. My husband got a Solemn Oath beer and we were both impressed with the rest of the beer list as well! I ordered their vegetarian meatballs and was really excited about them, but sadly when I placed my order the waiter told me they ran out the night before. Wah wahh. Went with my second choice which was the Cheddar Biscuits with Duck Gravy. Sounds amazing right? Oh it was. The only reason it was my second choice was because I pictured a huge plate of carbs and thick sauce and I was trying to make a healthy choice. But to my surprise, the plate came perfectly proportioned and laid out beautifully. Gotta love when a delicious food doesn’t make you FEELl like you’re tipping the scale :) The food was awesome. I’d come back just to try more of their menu. My husband had the bison chili in a bread bowl and loved it. Our waiter was super nice and knowledgeable about the beer. I’ll definitely be back — my interest is peeked!

In the vast choices in downtown Naperville, I would recommend you try out The Wise Boxer Pour House. I was surprised to see that it wasn’t extremely busy on a Saturday night. We were seated upstairs, which was pretty much empty. The atmosphere was casual and they had some pretty cool lighting fixtures over the booths. Football games were displayed on the many flat screen televisions throughout and the bar area upstairs was a quaint, dark area. The restaurant is kid friendly and there was a good mix of families and other patrons. Being a pour house, there was an extensive beer selection available both on tap and in bottles. I can be a bit of a beer snob, but they did have quite a few choices for the connoisseur. Our server didn’t seem to be well versed in their selections, although he did recognize this deficiency and had the bartender come to our table. I was disappointed that they didn’t have any sours available(one of my favorite types of beer), but I can recognize that they have to go with what will sell. The food selection was great. My friends and I decided to make several selections and share between us. We got the truffle fries, the godfather flatbread pizza and a goat cheese salad. I will say that all were delicious. If you are in Naperville, given The Wise Boxer Pour House a try!
