Law Office of Thomas J Alore

Thomas Alore and his staff have been very frustrating to work with. We needed somebody that could handle a closing without us present, as we were set to move out of state before the closing occurred. Everybody was responsive to us, until we moved. After we were out of state, it took repeated phone calls and emails to get them to tell us what our closing costs would be. After closing, Tom’s assistant, Brian called us and said that we owed them an extra $ 1000 because they had made a mistake when determining our closing costs, but that they would just take it out of our reimbursement from property taxes. I reminded them of their legal obligation to provide accurate closing costs. After this conversation, I did not hear from anybody for over 5 weeks. I called and emailed them repeatedly with no response. They didn’t even provide me with a copy of the final signed HUD-​1 statement. I had to reach out to my realtor to get that. After 5 weeks, Brian contacted me saying that the extra $ 1000 charge was a mistake on their part and that my reimbursement was going to be put in the mail that day. Well, that was 10 days ago, and once again, nobody will return my phone calls or emails. Stay away from these guys unless you can be present and watch their every move.

I called this office based on its high reviews and we were thinking about trying to terminate a contract to buy a short sale house. I spoke with Tom after the first phone call and explained the situation. I then sent him over all the contract documents for him to review and then waited for a call back to seek his advice and to hopefully retain him. That was the last I heard for him. He never called me back to either let me know that we could get out of the contract or could not. Three days later I decided to go with someone else.

I don’t usually write any reviews on Unilocal,but we had an amazing experience and I felt its my duty to let people know. My in laws just closed on a home yesterday. A few months ago, I went on Unilocal to find a real estate lawyer in Chicago western suburbs for my in laws. Tom had good reviews, so I decided to call his office. From start to finish it was a smooth and amazing experience.
Brian who works with Tom, was first person I talked to get information. He is a gentleman, always got back to me in a timely fashion. If I couldn’t get in touch with Tom, he would convey the message. I know that because Tom would call me or email me the same day.
Tom is one of those decent stand up guys, from the time I talked to him over phone, to when I met him first time at closing. I never felt like I was rushed from our conversations over the phone. I called him one day about the good faith estimate, and he basically went over every line of the cost with me with patience. He kept advising us even after the closing as we walked out of the office. We had some issues with appraisal and he went back and forth with seller promptly to get price down. I know he did more work than he charges. Any other attorney would have likely kept adding hourly rate for everything. There is no nickel and dimming here.
I can keep going on and on, but if you need a real estate attorney, who you can always get a hold off, is a decent guy, very patient, fairly priced, and who has the expertise and experience, don’t look any further, just call them. The other reviews speak for themselves.

This is the first time ever for me to write a review. We worked with Tom when we bought our home last year. I hired him because of all the great reviews on Unilocal.Also he has the most reasonable attorney fee in town. I am the kind of person who likes to make informed decisions and I usually have a lot of questions. I was very comfortable calling the office any time and always got my questions answered. Brian always returned my calls on time and was very helpful. Tom did a great job at closing and was on top of everything. I used his services again when my mom was buying a condo and there were complications but Tom and Brian made things a lot smoother. Tom goes out of the way to help his clients and gives honest advice. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone going into a real estate transaction. He is definitely one of the best real estate attorneys in town.

Tom has been my attorney since the late 90’s. As a real estate agent, I am exposed to many attorney’s in my business.
I chose Tom and his staff to represent me in my personal transactions (and he’s done a bunch of them) because he will go above and beyond to make sure things happen correctly. Tom is honest and cares about his clients. He is a «big picture» guy
I also call Tom about other legal matters and am confident in the referrals that he gives me for the types of law that aren’t his specialty.
I’ve also had the benefit of Tom working with my valued clients… exposing me to 100’s of transactions with his office.
As a side benefit. he can be kind of fun at the closing.

Great– caught an error while at the closing meeting that saved me literally thousands of $$$. He stopped me from signing away that money and I am very grateful. Only qualm and its not a biggie (which is why 5 stars is still on here)-Brian his assistant is who you communicate with more than Tom himself. I have gone through their office for 3 different occasions and have only met Tom twice. Brian gets back to you in a very timely matter however. And prices for dupage county area-​great.

We also hired Tom to help negotiate the closing of our first home. He’s an expert on all the documents and transactions, and had great answers for all the detailed questions I had. His fee is really low compared to other attorneys, while the quality is high. He has my highest recommendation.

We hired Tom for our residential real estate transaction and he and his team were world class. From walking through the inspection documents, to negogiating concessions from the sellers, to the actual sale and all the documents, Tom was always available and very knowledgable.
Would highly recommend Tom for any real estate transaction.
