I was helped by Jim, who was a very kind and knowledgeable violin craftsman. I did not feel pressured or intimidated even though I am a rusty violin player. And although the store does not have a room for you to audition instruments, nobody came into the shop during the time I was trying violins. Jim immediately sensed the type of sound I was looking for, and even managed to give me a few pleasant surprises that allowed me to discover new types of bows. His passion and interest for violins and bows is palpable. The store’s policy of no teacher kickbacks is also nice.

The detailed workmanship and expertise of this shop is unparalleled; it’s run by 2nd generation craftsman who understands these beautiful instruments better than any other. I wanted to give a great rating, but the ladies who run the office are not helpful, can be abrupt, and come across like they are doing you a favor. And in essence, you have no choice as the schools contract with specified retailers so you go with them. I believe this is a great shop with strong reputation that would benefit from a dose of happiness, chocolate and enhanced customer service.
