DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! My insurance assigned me to them and they still refuse to see me!!! The receptionist is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Didn’t realize that they could turn away patients that are in pain asking to be helped! This place is a joke that they can even call themselves a Dr’s office! If you love your family don’t go here. They don’t care enough to help.

Dr. John Dermody is a treasure! He was trained as an «old fashioned» physician who listens to and cares deeply about his patients.
Furthermore he has the intelligence and devotion to continue in this tradition despite various government, hospital, and insurance company regulations and obstacles.
He strongly believes in keeping up to date with the latest procedures and knowledge.
As a family family physician myself retired in 2010 I should know.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr Dermody’s for the past 20 years. We have never been thrilled with the front office staff but it was worth staying with the practice because we really loved Dr Dermody. I seldomly need to be seen as I have been very healthy (knock on wood). I was having abdominal pain and saw Merry, the nurse practitioner who wasn’t sure what was going on so she sent me in for a CT scan. The scan results were in the next day. I had to call the office back for the results. I was told by the receptionist «we have the report and it says that there is a large mass and we will be sending you to Dr. XXXX for a biopsy.» This completely took me by surprise and I hung up in shock. I would think that such news would be coming from a medical professional with an explanation. I called Dr Dermody’s office to see if they would fax the report to my internist in San Francisco since he had done a prior surgery on me. I was told by the receptionist «we don’t have the CT images so you will need to call over to the hospital for that». Again I was shocked that Dr Dermody had not seen the images. I called the hospital and they were prompt in getting that report and CD to my internist. I later called my internist and told him the story and his main suggestion was to NOT have a local surgeon do the biopsy and that a specialist should be seen. I again called Dr Dermody’s office to ask them if I could speak with Dr Dermody about what the internist had said and the receptionist took notes and said «I will give this to Dr Dermody and see what he wants to do». I waited and no call. I called the office again the next day to ask why the Dr had not called me to discuss my concerns and was told «Dr Dermody approved the referral so we will be faxing that over to the specialist today after he signs it». So I guess a phone call to a patient was not important! I called the office back at the end of the day to follow up and they had not yet faxed my referral but they said «we are sending it over now» I called the specialist the following morning and they said they had just received it that day”! This is now 8 days after the CT scan. I was waiting to get an appointment for a biopsy with the specialist and just found out that Dr Dermody’s office sent the specialist an incomplete report and the diagnosis was completely wrong and didn’t even mention a «mass in the abdomen». It’s been 3 weeks tomorrow since by initial CT scan and I am still waiting for a biopsy date because of the incompetence of Dr Dermody’s office. This has been completely frustrating and scary for me and I feel abandoned by Dr. Dermody. I will be looking for a new PCP that has the time to spend with me as a patient and who has office staff that can do their job effectively.
I’m so disappointed!!!

Dr. John Dermody has been our family doctor for over 15 years. He has always shown great respect and concern for me and my husband. He takes the time to discuss treatment options and provides an honest and well informed opinion, making sure we understand his concerns and decisions.
When necessary he has directed us to outstanding specialists, all to great results.
He stays in touch with our overall health history. He prescribes preventive care and makes sure we follow health guidelines for regular check ups and immunizations.
I trust his judgment and cautious perspective in managing our care.
We are truly fortunate to have Dr. John Dermody and his great staff in our community.

After searching high and low for a great doctor, I think we’ve found him! Dr. Dermody does a great job listening to concerns and dealing with whatever issues arise. My husband and I along with all our children have visited Dr. Dermody and have been satisfied!
He allows parents to make decisions regarding their children’s care without trying scare tactics and bullying like we’ve found in other offices… the office bills quickly and accurately, and the staff are just delightful — both friendly and helpful.
