Fantastic red wines, especially merlot. After not going to Napa for a few years, I was disappointed that a lot of wineries stopped producing merlot thanks to the movie Sideways. At one of the wineries we were talking about it and the pourer said if we wanted great Napa merlot, we had to go to Havens. I believe it is appointment only, but he called and said we would be there in 20 minutes(on a Monday no less) and Nicole was there to meet us on such short notice. It looked like someone’s house with a porch turned into a tasting room. We went in and Nicole opened(fresh!) several bottles for us to taste. We told her our merlot woes and she was sure to have several for us. We started with a cab franc rose which was wonderful. Then onto the merlots — super, smooth, wonderful, awesome, etc. We were not disappointed at all. Nicole was very friendly and helpful and explained all of the wines to us. It was also nice being the only people in there as we got presonalized service and we didn’t feel rushed at all. In fact we were having fun talking with Nicole so sipped slowly and savored it. We also enjoyed the Bourriquot blend. All in all we walked away with several bottles, some to drink now and some to save for later. I would really recommend Havens if you enjoy merlot. Call next time you are in Napa and I am sure they will be happy to help you even on short notice.

First note: it is appointment only. I am surprised this place has only 7 reviews. The GM of Mustards in Yountville recommended this winery to me. He especially recommended their Albarino, a white Spanish varietal. Boy am I glad I got an inside tip. This was by far the best wine tasting experience I have ever had. As my husband and I were walking to the tasting room we saw a table setting made outside with wines glasses, cheese, crackers, and a water pitcher. I was like; I wish I was in that party. It turned out that beautifully set table was for us. I don’t consider myself a regular in Napa Valley by any means but I also don’t consider myself a beginner. When I go tasting in Napa, I am used to standing at the tasting table waiting to get my turn, paying $ 15 for 3 or 4 tastes. At Havens, it’s a real experience. We sat there getting large pours of each wine; I think there was around 5 or 6 tastes. She even poured our reds in a decanter so that we could taste the difference of a non-decanted red wine versus one that had been decanted. The cheese paired with the wine really balanced the flavors very well. We bought several bottles of wine which waived the wine tasting fee. I would absolutely go here again and bring some friends with me… it was amazing and would impress anyone.

I love Havens. It is the only red wine that I will drink without someone having to convince me to do so. The Havens Merlot is my drink with my boyfriend and while we were visiting the winery we bought a magnum that we will open on some special occasion down the line. This winery isn’t super fancy. It’s tucked away on the side and wasn’t very crowded when we went. The tasting was only $ 15 and everything was absolutely amazing. I don’t remember who was helping us, but she was so informative and helpful. I feel like this winery has that down home feel to it and would recommend it to anyone who is taking a trip to Napa.

i used to hate wine, but i got into it after having many bottles of Havens(gratis by the kindness of J’s family). these are the bottles that i have had(many repeats): — Reserve 1999 Merlot — 2001 Bourriquot — 2003 Syrah –1996 Merlot –2000 Syrah after drinking so many glasses and bottles, i had begun noticing the subtleties and now i prefer red wine over cocktails! I think the winery was bought out but they’re keepin the name. I’ll make sure to pay this winery a visit soon!

The tasting room was excellent. Need reservations to go. We went, and there was a couple visiting from alaska! They have a $ 15 reserve tasting wtih 6 diff wines and they even have water/bread and they brought out cheeses while we were tasting! Added quite a bit to the tasting, and was delicious. Personal and private tour. They have 2 or 3 liter bottles of wine! wow… could ask lots of questions, and enjoy. It was so delicious and the wine is smooth. We got a bottle of the black and white? blue? for later. I’d love to go back again.

This tasting room is a little hard to get into. I’m accustomed to being able to just roam around wine country. But, this place you need to call ahead and make an appointment. They are well worth it. Tiny intimate tasting room. Delicious wines, try the black and blue!

Haven was the first winery we stopped at in Napa. A very sweet, friendly older gentleman named Peter was running the tasting room. He really took care of us, letting us share tastings(and then pouring us each a taste of all the wines) and chatting up my mom about their travels, food, and families. The wine was good, and I ended up with a few bottles of their merlot(which is not a thing to be ashamed about… they make a big, spicy merlot that I cannot wait to drink again).

If you ever find yourself at Elyse on Hoffman lane then by all means stop by this quiant little tasting room. The wines are good, but not worth the hassels of hunting down this space. The staff was very kind and very warm(his wife and kids were in back studying or something).
