Anytime a breakfast diner serves corned beef hash, it’s what I order. I’ve been doing it for years so I know a thing or two about corned beef hash. This one was one of the best I’ve ever had. I went in on Valentine’s Day around 8:30am and there was already a good crowd in there. There was only one server but she worked tirelessly with a smile and refilled my coffee several times.

Pretty high/regular Napa prices but very poor food. Servers are nice but the quality of food is low, tasteless and greasy.

Not sure why this place received so many poor reviews for service. I was there on Saturday morning and they were on top of everything, food came quickly, refills were great, check came right on time. Service was fine. The food was nothing special but it wasn’t bad. It is what it is, a local diner, so don’t expect some overpriced Napa gourmet meal. It’s where the regulars go and if you want normal food at a reasonable price, then check it out.

Don’t come here if you’re in a rush or starving. Slow service. Came in at 11:50am and was sat right away which was nice. But we didn’t get our food until 12:20pm! My home fried potatoes were like eating a raw potato. My pancakes were burnt. The only thing good was the bacon. You’re better off going to Black Bear Diner, Denny’s, or iHop! Better food and much cheaper.

So, we’ve been a few times before. Not bad. We went for breakfast today and ordered a pretty basic breakfast for two people. $ 30. Seriously? So we were checking out the back of the menu and loved seeing the discounts for business owners, law enforcement, firefighters, etc. 20%! We thought wow! Way to show your community support! So my husband being an off-duty peace officer, asked if the discount applied. The reply was, «Uhhhhh…no!» Not only was she not sure, when she decided her answer, she was rude and unapologetic. So let me get this straight, just because he wasn’t wearing his uniform, he’s denied the discount that is advertised. If that’s how they show their support, we don’t want any part of going there. You may not agree, but if it’s advertised as such, with no stipulations, then why bother even pretending your being a supportive business. No thanks! Anywhere is better than there.

Nothing special. Nice on the inside. Saturday morning right before the small rush. Server seemed out of it, not very friendly and slowest service ever. Food was not great. Had the French toast and it was very bland. The other waitress was doing all of our waitresses work. Felt like I should have tipped her instead.

The hospitality of staff, friendly service and great hometown feel is what makes this a Napa gem. The other reviews don’t give it justice. Check them out whenever you’re in town.

Excellent ma and pa breakfast. The country fried steak was awesome all the way to the hashbrowns. The service was very courteous and the owner Ruben was very welcoming.

Great place, good prices, sweet service. Delicious pillowy French toast and very good coffee. Excellent stop off on the way through to Calistoga.

Went today for brunch-ish type of morning. Haven’t been there in years, and wont be going back anytime soon. We ordered, I had the special. I didn’t realize it was so special it would magically change price right before our eyes. The waitress walked over, and changed it on the big board behind the counter, and then on our ticket, AFTER I ordered. I guess they needed the dollar more than me. SO I mentioned it to the owner, and he shrugged. Nice. The portions are so small, for the price, and basically have no flavor at all! I took a pic of my ticket so everyone could see. Such crap! PS, there is no rating below one star, otherwise I would have given less. Maybe concentrate on the food, and less on the crappy wine bar.

Awful! The service is slow at best. The«home fries» are just deep fried with no seasonings or onions, parsley… Nothing! I waited 20 minutes for a refill of soda. The omelette was runny! Wtf? Toast was cold and butter less. Before you go here… Soscol café is better Jefferson café is better Butter crème bakery is better Biscuits is better Even black bear is better!

I can’t even give it one star. Terrible breakfast over priced and over cooked … Pretty hard to mess up breakfast, I’m shocked this place is open.

Don’t order the hashbrowns. They are overdone on the outside and barely warm on the inside.

No effin way! There are little black floating dots in my water and also what looks like a fly leg. Clean your ice people! We are outta here and never going back. How unfortunate. NEVEREVER going back! This is sad, because we had gone in the Winter time and had some breakfast and they had great food. Now I’m wondering what the kitchen looks like and what’s crawling around back there. I think the HEALTHDEPT needs to have a look in the kitchen and the ice chest to see what is creeping and crawling around. Yukk… Totally and 4ever grossed out by this last experience. *hurl Too bad I can’t leave HALF a star.

Had brunch today at Emmy Lou’s Diner. Decided to sit at the diner counter(bar). Started with coffee. The specials for the day were Chili Relleno Omelette and Eggs Benedict. I opted for the Chili Relleno Omelette. I chose hash browns and sour dough toast. Didn’t have to wait long for my meal to arrive. The plate was warmed, which really appeals to me. The Omelette was excellent. The spiciness was just enough… not over the top. I never thought about combining chili relleno with omelette, but this really works well. Wait staff was friendly and fast on the coffee refills, which I really like. I don’t think my cup was ever empty. Thanks Emmy Lou’s staff. I’ll be back.

Before heading out for a long day of winery tours, we needed a more substantial breakfast than just muffins and pastries. I had originally wanted to try out Gillwoods, but I was sad to see that it closed down. Emmy Lou’s was my backup plan, but it worked just fine. This is your basic diner, though it doesn’t feel run down or anything, just homey. This place was mostly populated with locals getting their grub on, and wasn’t quite as touristy as I assumed it might be. One couple was having Coronas with their breakfast(breakfast of champions!). I picked a platter with chicken fried steak, 2 eggs over easy, home fried potatoes, and toast. Yum! What I got was crispy fried steak covered in delicious cream gravy, tasty eggs oozing all over my plate, and well-seasoned home fries. The coffee was about average: not gourmet, but not Folgers either. The service here needs a little work, maybe just better listening skills. Our waitress was very friendly though.

You know what? My old review is no longer relevant: you *can* get an egg-white omelet at Emmy Lou’s. The waitstaff has improved. The ingredients are still fresh and the prices are absolutely reasonable. And there’s NOWAIT, which is a treat on the weekends because some of the competing establishments can have you wait 20 minutes before your meat hits a seat. This is now my family’s go-to breakfast place. My boy loves the pancake & fruit kid’s special and my wife and I still love the corned beef hash and eggs(although to be honest the recipe has changed slightly, and not for the better… PLEASEBRINGBACKTHEOLDVERSIONOFTHECORNEDBEEFHASHANDEGGSEMMYLOU’S PEOPLE!) Again, this is a 4-star coffee shop; this is not a 4-star brunch joint worthy of a stop on your romantic weekend.
