Folks, I feel this is an untapped treasure of a winery. The hosting room is a refurbished horse barn which is just divine. We tasted wine in front of a warm iron stove, relaxed on comfy couches and had the best host for our afternoon. I apologize that I do not remember his name but he was a complete delight. To boot, his descriptions of the vintages we tasted were spot on. I happily brought home a bottle of 2014 white. I am not much of a red wine drinker but their current blends were quite nice. They had the flavor yet were still a lighter drinking wine which I personally prefer. I just cannot say enough nice things over the grounds, tasting area and hosts. They clearly have a passion for wine and I wish them nothing but success.

This was an amazing experience to sit down with the winemakers father and listen to his family history. He’s humble and proud of where they’ve landed. The wine we were drinking had been bottled the week before and was drinkable due to the winery’s use of technology. We joined the wine club so that we can get their wine shipped to us at home and utilize the perks when we visit. Hopefully we’ll be able to have dinner there soon!

We loved the wine here as well as the staff and atmosphere. After all the vineyards we visited while in Napa, everyone in our group agreed that we enjoyed our time spent here the most! We did not meet Grant, but Patrick was very knowledgeable and incredibly hospitable. We will certainly be return customers. We brought home the 2013 Grenache blend and truly enjoyed it, great wine!

We visited Aonair this past weekend with friends from out of the area. I was not familiar with Aonair, despite living nearby, but was introduced to it via my friend’s wine tour business. It’s a really attractive location, so it’s easy to get caught up as soon as you arrive. The winemaker was not available this day, so his father subbed for him. And what a salesman he is. He had lots of stories, and I didn’t care about the veracity of his stories about associations with Ross Perot and the Clintons, but when he starts pushing the envelope on wine issues, I pay attention. As we arrived, we were greeted with their white wine, a Sauvignon Musque, something that, he claimed, we’d likely never encounter elsewhere. Well, Merry Edwards’ Sauvignon Blanc is primarily Sauvignon Musque. Antenna up! BS alert! As the session went one, he claimed that his son, the winemaker, was«#2 in the world». Really. A Google search associates him only with Aonair. He claimed that his son developed a new technique where berries were destemmed, not crushed, and placed in a vat to ferment with only their weight to «crush“them. Hmmm, sounds like whole berry fermintation to me. So, BS aside, the dad was an excellent salesman, creating tasting results before the wine hit your tongue. Reality? No different than dozens of other wines from wineries up and down the valley. His BS pissed me off, and if that’s the only way that he can differentiate these wines, I’ll pass. Good stories, tho

We visited Aonair winery this past week on a private wine tour w/Woodys wine tours and had a great time. We had the pleasure of meeting and tasting with Grant SR. He had some great stories and was very informative about what Aonair is all about. As previous reviews stated the grounds are awesome and the converted barn is really cool. We joined the wine club and hope to take advantage of the property one day. To top off our visit, my girlfriend and I got engaged earlier in the day and Grant SR. gifted us with a bottle of their Blue Oak estate for us to celebrate with.

We love this wine and we enjoyed visiting the converted barn tasting room. We came here last year and spent about an hour and a half with the wine maker Grant Long learning about his label, wine making and of course tasting wine. We brought a picnic lunch — lot’s of fun! Very pretty grounds. Everything was perfect. We joined the wine club and we continue to look forward to receiving our shipments of «BIG» and«BOLD» California Reds. No complaints at all — I just wished we lived closer. A must do experience while in the Napa Vally.

Last month, my cousins and I did a private tour of some«off the beaten track» wineries in Napa. What a special treat to be received as private guests rather than just one of the crowd. We visited four wineries, all memorable, but the best was saved for last – the Aonair Winery. Grant Long, Jr. was out of town, so we, too, had his father Grant, Sr., as our host. The white wine was wonderful and the port was amazing, but the Cabernet and the Reserve were simply put – astounding!!! I have never tasted wine this delicious in my life. In fact, it was so good that I immediately joined their Wine Club, something I hadn’t expected. If you love reds, you must taste Aonair. The name is strange, but we were told it means«one man» in Gaelic, as Grant, Jr., used to be in partnerships before going out on his own with this winery. Even the bottles are special. No pasted on labels. The printing is done directly on the bottle and there’s a beautiful red wax over the cork that is poured in just the right way, at an angle, so that you can see the cork. The whole presentation is sumptuous, just like the wine.

On the recommendation of the B&B, we booked Aonair for a special celebration for a party of 13. The event took place in their converted horse barn with a phenomenal deck that had jaw-dropping sunset views. We had exclusive use of the facility, which was beautifully appointed including comfortable seating on sumptuous couches in front of a fire. There were consistent and generous pours of wine while delicious appetizers were served. It just got better when we sat down to eat. We had picked out the menu in advance — it sounded delicious and did not disappoint. Chef Willie prepared and served a 5 course meal that was delicious. Of special note was the hand-made pasta filled with spinach and sheep’s milk ricotta with sage butter… synonymous with perfection… followed closely by the sliced rib eye with red wine reduction. The owner, Grant, was out of town so his dad stood in his absence. He is a gracious host and very welcoming with a ready smile and casual demeanor. He was always checking to make certain that our thirst was quenched and all of our needs were attended to. The wines that were served were all from the Aonair winery. The wines were consistently excellent and the pairings were perfect with each course. We do not live in the Napa Valley — this was a special trip and celebration that brought us to Napa. If we lived here, we would create special occasions just to go back to Aonair… it was that memorable.

My husband and I recently honeymooned in Napa and we were on a private wine tour which is how we came to Aonair Wine. After visiting Napa twice and tasting at well over thirty wineries, Aonair is my favorite. The property is drop dead gorgeous — hills, wines, trees — all so beautiful! There is a mansion on the property that wine club members can rent out and stay there. The tasting room is very cool — think vintage with a modern twist. The owner is a young guy named Grant and he is such a nice, cool guy and makes such beautiful full bodied wine. While Aonair is a small winery and small production, it is definitely something special. We joined the wine club there and it is well worth it. We usually save it for special occasions. If you go wine tasting in Napa, I highly recommend going to taste there. Next time we are in Napa, we will definitely go back!
