Love the bread here, but not a fan of the pies or cakes. They are very commercial tasting and they are not good enough to celebrate a special occasion. If you are looking for delicious warm bread and a fun place to take the kids, this is it!

I love this bakery. A destination trip. The bread! The pretzels. The pastries and cakes. Very international. It is the best.

Bread adventure! Nothing better than the freshest bread off the conveyor belt. So many options, and all is so delicious. The smell from the instance you walk in and you’re sold. It’s cool to see the bread being made, and the have a bakery as well.

This place is great. They have a patisserie section, full of cakes and sweet pastries. In the deli/bakery section, you literally pick your bread from the factory and bring it to the deli to get delicious deli sandwiches.

There is no mistaking the aroma of fresh hot baked bread, it gets your mouth watering, your heart pounding and the words I WANTITALL racing through your head. But hold up, be patient and thank the bread gods that this experience often taken for granted, is still a long standing tradition for those of us here in the east, the joy of actually picking out your own fresh baked bread by hand and not over a counter in a grocery store. Rockland Bakery. Just those two words glaze the eyes of any carb loving person and the excitement of the simplicity of it all. As you walk in, put on the plastic gloves they provide & for goodness sake double bag your paper bags. Then proceed to «be cool» as you walk in the doors to the bakery floor, to the right hot bagels freshly made and hot to the touch, I mean seriously they are coming down the shoot into the waiting baskets to be moved to the racks, my friends, it doesn’t matter what flavor they may be, grab some! to your left are the other flavors they just made, then onto the Tuscan and sesame breads, the Challah braids and rolls are calling my name because they are best with coffee or tea on chilly mornings, then you have baguettes made to perfection & sandwich breads. The list goes on and on. There is also a new cheese and deli store but it was closed when we went so I didn’t get a chance to explore. All the more reason to head out there soon. When your done with all your baked goodness walk back to the front to the bakery cases to have your bread counted, but wait — there are glass cases of danishes, cakes, cookies and now you are thinking, should I?- I say YES! I mean yes. I do. So get a «few» cookies for the ride home or a coffee cake or whatever for any special occasion. Frankly, I am always surprised at the end how little I pay for all I cram into the 4 – 5 bags I saddle my hubby with, but I am giver and share the plunder with my in-laws and spawn but save my favorites for me. Enjoy Rockland Bakery in all its glory a wonderful long standing tradition for all and a truly wonderful experience.

Such a cool place. Pick your bagels right off the conveyor belt hot and crisp. It’s smells like carb heaven. I found this place while at the jeep dealership across the street. All I kept asking was«where is that smell coming from» nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread. Now I never have a problem with having to bring my jeep in for service because I know Ill get to visit this bakery. I love to go and pick out fresh hot bagels then have the deli make me a sandwich on it.

This place has the best pastries hair and pie! Go here if your ever in nanuet. It’s AMAZING! The black and white cookies might be the best I have ever eaten. They also have amazing cannolis. The experience in this place is so hands on and cool. You pick your own bread in the bakery, they give you gloves and you can even see them making the bread fresh as you pick out your bialys, rolls, bagels, and loaves of bread

I enjoyed visiting their bakery. It was really cool that you could get some gloves and grab your own fresh baked bread! I enjoyed the delicious apple pie and the red velvet cake was good too. The Strawberry Shortcake was a little too sweet with the frosting for my liking but overall a great experience!

Good fresh breads! Not sure what the big deal is about the cakes tho. Know many rave but i cant seem to hit on what is special. All are too sweet and look and taste like most other bakeries’ stuff.

This is definitely one of the best bakeries around, the place is always packed, and they supply a lot of the bread for restaurants all over the tristate area. Lets start with their breads, all excellent, and you can walk right into the factory, smell the fresh bread being made and even grab a bagel right off the conveyor belt(beware they are hot as hell). Their baked goods are also great, I love their cookies and they have some great danishes. If you have never been here it is an experience.

My godmother lives in Rockland, so when I visit more times than not we have a dessert from Rockland Bakery. Moreover, she always brings down rolls from the bakery for Christmas Eve dinner and they’re always a hit. In addition to their retail store in Nanuet, they are also in the wholesale business with distribution centers throughout the tri-state area. Their products are solid — their rolls are tasty and high quality, plus they make this cheesecake topped with mixed berries which is totally out of this world. Their Italian cookies are pretty good as well — probably some of the best I’ve seen outside NYC. Odds are you may have already tried baked goods from Rockland Bakery, but it’s worth a trip to their main retail location — they definitely deliver the goods.

I grew up in New City(1977-college) and have always loved Rockland Bakery. The Kaiser rolls are so good that all the nicer deli/bodegas in the city ship them in for their sandwiches. We used to pluck them right off the conveyor belt as they came out of the oven. So worth the 2nd degree burns and loss of fingerprints!(The gloves came later, maybe in the 90’s?) While hot, the outside would be light and toasty and flakey and the inside was so soft and airy that it melted in your mouth. The bagels were a little bready back in the day(FYI for real NY bagels, Bubba’s in Spring Valley was better than David’s). But I stopped in while I was back in the old 845 yesterday(Nov 2015) and grabbed a dozen, still warm. They’re definitely heavier now, so I’m hopeful. Also stocked up on the kaisers and grabbed a challah. It will be the first time I try their challah, actually. I live in absolute bumblefuque now, where I AM the Jewish population, so even a bad challah is a treat to have since you just can’t get it out here. I’m just gonna go ahead and say it’s amazing, actually. Yes.

If youre capable of driving or walking past Rockland Bakery without going in, then you are crazy. The smell outside alone is what should drag you in. Once inside, you will be drawn to the factory-esque area where you are allowed to pick out your sweets, breads, bagels, etc. Yes, you can hand pick them pretty much as they are coming off the belt – fresh& warm to hands touch. The deli allows you to get some sandwhiches, get something on your item(cream cheese, meats, etc) and theres a bakery section too! Small parking lot so beware, but the bagels and bread are out of this world. prices are very reasonable, beats the city bagels by far and you wont be paying an arm and a leg!

BAGELCONVEYORBELT! Worth stopping by for this reason alone. Pretty awesome warehouse-shop where you’ll eat probably the freshest bagels you’ll ever have in your life, right off of the oven conveyor belt. Plus, hundreds of bakery cart racks for anything else that wasn’t baked 5 seconds ago. Nothing super-special about the bagels or other bread/bakery products we tried in terms of taste, but still a really unique spot to check out if you’re in the area.

What a blessing. Friends and I stopped in here after I did a quick Unilocal search around Palisades Mall and discovered this gem. I had to drag my unwilling friends here, but immediately upon donning our plastic gloves and walking into the conveyor belt area, they shut up. It’s just fun to pick your own bagels(they’re really all the same, piping hot goodness, so no worries. Just pick the largest one as they’re paid for by the item.) and watch all the complex carbohydrates roll in and out of the conveyor belts. The plain bagel is heavenly. Its exterior’s still got a bite to it, but the inside is soft and pillowy. I tried some other breads, but they were nowhere near as good as the bagel I picked. I want to come back for a kaiser roll, and have a freshly made Bacon Egg and Cheese!

Heaven on earth! Everything I eat here becomes an instant favorite: the fresh-out-of-the-oven everything bagel, the olive ciabatta roll, the challah twist, the pumpernickel loaf, the cranberry and walnut loaf, etc. I usually feel too guilty about the massive amount of bread I buy to consider getting something sweet, but I usually spend a few seconds wistfully gazing at the linzer raspberry cookies. Pro-tip for the newbies: you can pick your favorite bread and then ask the deli people to build the best sandwich. All you do is just pick up a ticket stub from the front, hustle over to the back where all the lovely bread gets made, and then get back just in time for your number to be called. I’m partial to the prosciutto with hard salami and spicy mustard. Also, because I had no idea what to do the first time, you pay for your sandwich at the register in the deli, not the registers in the front of the store where all the cookies and cakes are. Still having dreams about that bread. Bring it to anyone that you have ever wronged.
