I didn’t come for the food, nor should you. Beers here are great, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The ambiance is also great so long as the place doesn’t get too crowded. Come here for a few pints or to sample a flight with your friends. Great to see a chill spot that isn’t trying to be a sports bar.(I think they only have 1 or 2 tvs)

Love this place. Great salad, chili, pretzels, pulled pork sandwiches and enjoy the hard ciders selection too.

I love everything about this place. They always have a great selection of draft craft beer as well as a wide variety of bottles. The staff is always so friendly and attentive. Every Thursday they have a beer tasting — I’ve gone to quite a few and they’re awesome. You get to try and learn about all different beers from different breweries each week. It always has a good amount of people partaking — and even their customers are nice. I honestly haven’t tried their food yet, but orders have passed me that look delicious — so will have to order some soon. I would recommend this place and will definitely be back.

EVERYTIME we have gone to Growler and Gill we have left with a smile on our face. Great live acoustic show last night, consistent quality food. Yummy beer selections. Now with Gypsy Donut setting up shop, well dreams come true! Thank you for the great times.

I used to love this place but I think they may have grown too popular too fast. Came here at 7 on a Saturday night. We love their appetizers but over the course of the next hour most of their menu sold out. They were severely understaffed and many things we ordered never made it to our table. After the manager sold us on getting the nachos without the chili we were served the most pathetic plate of chips I’ve ever seen. They did take the nachos off our bill but this was a very disappointing evening. I guess we’ll have to find a new craft beer location to quench our thirst.

If only this place had better service. Went again a couple of months after my last review, and I don’t think I will ever come back. The service was that bad. I ordered a porter. The waitress came back with a different kind of beer, looked like an IPA. Didn’t mind that she got it wrong, asked for a different one. Waiting. Waiting.(At this point waitress is just staring at us.) 20 minutes later, got the correct beer. Next, ordered two things: Craft beer mac n cheese & German brats n kraut. Waiting. At this point, 30 minutes have passed. We asked about our order. Waiting. Waitress comes back and gives us our German brats & kraut, then proceeds to say the Mac n cheese was gonna take a «few» minutes. Waiting. Hmmm, well this sauerkraut tastes pretty good. Waiting.(Waitress is chatting with other workers, looks like non-work-related garbage talk) Waitress comes back, we tell her just pack up the mac n cheese, we’ll take it to go. Waiting for check and mac n cheese. Finally get our check and proceed to leave. (It has probably now been two hours since we have come in) Moral of the story: Your service sucks. You have good food, good selection of beers, but PLEASE, PLEASE hire better waiters/waitresses.

Came here on a late Saturday afternoon when they were only limiting the menu to their Oktoberfest/Pumpkinfest(sorry I forgot) menu due to it being very busy. I didn’t mind though since there were still a lot of great options. When we first walked in, every table was full, we waited about 20 minutes or so for a table to open up. We grabbed a beer while we were waiting. The beer selection is on point with many seasonal pumpkin beers, appropriately so. The beers on tap are numbered so if you’re not good with pronunciation like me, there’s your short cut. You can ask for any sample before you dedicate yourself to a full pour, which I loved. You can have your own little beer tasting without the flights. My friends and I shared the pretzel sticks, which were so soft and warm. We also had jalapeño poppers that were some of the best I’ve had and the chili, which was the perfect comfort food with the cold weather that day. The atmosphere seemed very laid back, people brought coloring books with them, and I saw another group playing Jenga. Any bar that has Jenga is great in my book. I wish I lived closer, I would definitely come back.

This is a really really cool place. Good vibe. It’s a craft beer store/brewery/café with coffee and tea, Gastro pub. A sushi roll of taste buds and comfort. I had the chicken Caesar salad, it was huge, and amazing. My friend had the wings. Those were decent for downstate. After we had pirogies and the house chili. Both awesome. Great beer selection, good home brewed beers, and reasonable prices. I really wanted to give it five stars but there a few, in my opinion, things they could improve on food wise. Other than that, worth a look. Enjoy.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place! Kind of reminds me of «World of Beer». There are a unique selection of beers on the wall and a number of options on tap. They even carry the ale I love! Another plus was the menu they offered alongside the drinks. Some places like this don’t offer food, so when I do find a place that has both — it’s love. But remember that places like this are about the beer not the food! If you’re only interested in the food, you probably won’t be too impressed. I’d totally come back and would have loved to score this place with 5 stars, but I have to say service was lacking. Took me 40 minutes to get my drink(not even a draft, literally picked a bottle from the wall, the waitress walked away with it to «chill» it, and when she finally passed by the table she quickly ran to the back because she realized she forgot about my order) and an hour to receive my order of nachos. Normally I only remove one star for service, but I personally think 40 minutes to pour ONE drink was really pushing it. All in all I want to like this place so I am willing to give it another go, but future service will either bump my update to this rating up or down!

Great Service! Great Bar Food! Great Ambiance! I really love this palce, they have a decent selection of beers on tap, I prefer their cold bottle selection, it’s a little more exciting. The food selection is small but delicious, loved the wings. The staff seems pretty knowledgeable and friendly. I liked that we had a free range of the place to just walk around and enjoy what they have to offer. Highly Recommended!!!

Growler & Gill how I love you! One of my favorites spots of all time for great bites and even better craft beer :) G&G is much more than just a place to eat and drink. They just launched a coffee shop, open in the morning until the early afternoon, and offer almond milk and soy milk for those who cannot drink regular milk such as myself. They also have an impressive selection of bottled beers that you can buy to go. There’s a cozy corner with 2 couches where you can sit and relax with friends or read a book. They even have an acoustic bass guitar you can strum on! They also hold many events such as trivia night, open mic night, and several beer tastings on a weekly basis. I always look forward to their beer tastings on Thursdays and get to try many delicious beers from various breweries near and far! When it comes to their beer, the tap list is always rotating and has a perfect balance of different styles of beers. They have a tap cam that you can view on their website so you can have an idea of what they have to offer before visiting. You can get flights here and, of course, get your growler filled to go. They also sell a bunch of different glassware. At this point I’ve tried pretty much their entire menu and everything is delicious. Their Parmesan Truffle fries are absolute perfection! The fries are all evenly coated and served with sides of ketchup and truffle aioli. Their bacon and pepperoni pizza is also one of my favorites, crispy thin crust and extremely flavorful. They do not skimp on the toppings! A few people have complained about the service but I have never had a bad experience with that. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable. I only wish they would expand their menu(since I’ve already tried everything) and that they would have more food specials. Don’t think twice about visiting Growler & Gill!

This place is actually pretty unreal. FIrst off they have some beers that will knock your socks off. For example if you like sour beers. They have westbrook Goze and a handful of the Farm to Barrel series by almanac brewing. Also their tap list just had ridiculous things on it and overall was a beer drinkers dream. A couple friends of mine had the sangria which they said was very very tasty as well(for you non beer drinkers). So i personally didnt order anything, but i did steal a bite here or there from friends of mine and what i did have was top notch. I was there with a group of about 15 and about 8 people ordered food and not one had a bad thing to say about the food. This place is definitely a cool place for dinner and drinks!

Love me some craft beer. This was the perfect place for a double date with my IPA fanatic boyfriend and our beer connoisseur friends. Tried the flight, it was ideal for sampling some of the many microbrews they had on tap. I wish I could’ve tried more, but I was driving, so I left it to one. Awesome selection and the beers came out crisp and cold. The food: think slightly elevated bar food with a twist. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a variety of things so we got 3 small plates and split them. The bavarian pretzels came with homemade mustard and different toppings; I enjoyed the classic salt topping best, but it was nice to try something new. The hummus plate included two different types of hummus, pita, cucumber, celery, olives and tortilla chips. The surprising variety on the plate made this my favorite dish, its perfect for sharing. Jalapeño poppers came in a basket with a mango salsa, sour cream, and some crispy tortilla chips. Altogether, the food was impressive, but I wasn’t expecting anything less after reading all the raving reviews. The atmosphere is very casual. One half of the room is dedicated to single beers which you can buy a la carte. Most are around $ 2 each, so they’re not cheap, but they sure are unique and many are hard to find elsewhere. The staff are very friendly and down to earth. I’m so glad a place like G&G exists only a short drive down the Palisades Parkway from me. I can’t wait to come back, just gotta find a DD for next time!

Grab a table, snag a seat at the couch, or stand by the bar and try one or many of the craft beers they have on tap here. IF youre a fan, deff take a growler home. I thought the flight for $ 9 was a great choice and option – =it allowed me to try 4 different types of beer. I personally enjoyed the banana nut bread and the black cherry cidar. This place is big and is a great spot to socialize with a group of friends. The awesome thing is, you can build your own 6 pack or just pick up whatever beer you want on the side(theres a few sheleves of choices for you) and yes of course theres growler options to take home. next time i come back i will try their beer mac n cheese – ive heard nothing but good things about it!

During my brief time as a refugee while my apartment was being renovated, we stayed up in the Tarrytown area for a few days. My boyfriend, being a beer connoisseur, mentioned this«beer store» he had been at with his friend. Cool. So we drove over to the mall, and then popped in here. What a cute, laid back atmosphere! The servers were all very nice, it was super chill. I got a flight of beers I usually wouldn’t go for, as I hate committing to an entire pint on a gamble like that, so it was fun. We had snacks(he said they didn’t have any before), and everything was solid(pork sliders, jalapeño poppers), and then filled up a six pack. The selection was better than average, but still couldn’t find some specialty beers I’d like to have picked up. All in all, a fun joint.

Oh no… only three stars? Wait, he loves beer and places like this but only three stars?! Unfortunately yes… bad experiences. Perhaps I caught them at bad times, so let’s assume for a few minutes that I did. I went here first to find a few bottles that I knew they had… the day after Thanksgiving. There is no rhyme or reason to the line so people were cutting around people that were standing there. As I stood on line I noticed that they had a loyalty program and I was excited to sign up when they asked me like they did everyone else. Bummer, they didn’t ask. Should I have offered? I don’t know, you asked the 10 people in front of me… did you get tired at number 11? lol This was also a day that an ever popular stout was hitting the shelves. It’s ok, we all get excited sometimes. Second visit went a little bit differently because I was looking for two growler fills. Stood at the bar, studied the menu, got an idea of what I was looking for. I was with a friend of mine and he was doing the same. There were three other groups at the bar getting direct attention. We stood there for a few minutes and that’s ok, we were studying. One of the staffers comes over to us, ask’s the usual question and my first growler fill is underway. I would later find out that what I had asked for didn’t go into my growler… this is very disappointing for those of you that understand. Either I wasn’t paying attention or he didn’t know he wasn’t grabbing the right tap handle, but what I brought home wasn’t what I wanted. Should he have known what he was doing? Yes, he told us he was one of the owner’s. I didn’t feel a good customer service experience out of this ordeal. I tried getting a drink while I was waiting for a second growler fill but got ignored. For whatever reason he seemed more attentive to the other groups of people. Will I go back? That’s always a good question. I would like to think I would! Perhaps I need for the holiday’s to die down… wait for things to go back to normal.

Loved this place! This place was recommended to us at least a year ago, and we finally got around to it. What took us so long?! This place is a beer lover’s dream. The craft beers are to die for and they have a wall filled with beer where you can create your own six pack. I left with 8 beers and will return for more as the months roll by. It’s an interesting atmosphere, when you walk in it looks like you may have stumbled into a coffee shop. There are board games you can play while you eat and drink. The crowd was eclectic, and we loved it. We were greeted by the friendliest of friendly owners when we first walked in. He told us to head over to the bar where we could sample any beer we wanted. Don’t buy until you try! They had 16 beer selections on tap and I’m sure all were delicious. To start off the evening, my friend and I shared a beer flight. Every beer was great. We sat down and ordered some food too. Who’d have thunk it, but the food was just as delicious as the alcohol! We started with the truffle fries. I had the chili, my friend had a salad, and my husband had the pork sliders and pierogies. Everything was delicious! We ended the evening with a brownie sundae. It’s a must! You won’t be sorry. Our waitress was a bit inattentive and we had to flag her down multiple times, but the rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back. Long live beer!
