For«local style» Hawaiian fare on the continental United States(da mainland), the food was really good(broke da mouth), the portions were good(choke ono grinds), and the atmosphere was comfortable(good kine tables brah). Definitely made me miss home. Mahalo Bruddah for da ono kine grinds!

I love their food! Try the Kalua pork! Too bad they aren’t open Mondays… but you can’t fault them for wanting a break.

To start with my better half grew up in Hawaii and she has a opinion about everything. We live about an hour away from this place and we just had to have a little taste of home for her. The mixed plate was awesome and mac salad was authentic. The spam was great and beef ribs awesome.

I love this place. Chicken shoyu is my favorite! You can’t beat it, there is no other Hawaiian bbq that comes close in the area.

The dude who said if you liked Spam, you’d like this was on the mark. That particular meat is available on almost everything… seating is kind of odd here and despite this being more or less a hole in a wall of sort of run down buildings in a sort of questionable looking strip mall, it gets pretty jammed and the one girl trying to sort all of it out, server, cashier and everything else, definitely gets run to the limits. She gamely braves it all and never wavers in her friendliness, but clearly could use a bit of help… so you may be waiting. Drink selections, incidentally, are not so hot if you want something sugar-free, a common lack in most of the area, I’ve found. As to the food, I wanted to go kind of light and just stuck with musubi, both Spam(of course) and the chicken, which came with teriyaki in it and on the side. I have some grumblings about both. The chicken was tasty, but I don’t need and definitely don’t want either chunks of congealed chicken fat or joints at all, let alone in that dish. This one worked arguably the best, though the nori, rice, meat and sauce did not blend together as symbiotically as I would have hoped… the Spam side did well on the subtlety end, but there was less Spam in there(never thought I’d ever type that particular phrase) than there should have been, again, for that balance. It’s important to note that this is finger food, but I don’t quite know exactly how they intended to get the musubi into the cup of sauce(too large for that and cutting it was pointless, particularly with a plastic knife) that came with. I would definitely consider coming back again, as the Kahlua pork and a few other things, possibly the poke and custard pie(which they were out of when I was there) definitely have some attraction. Definitely island theme to the place and it’s overall pretty comfortable. If they had a better drink selection and a lot more refinement to execution(which they may on some of the other dishes), this would be more like a 4…

I’m not one for sweet meats so I ordered the pork adobo. I subbed fried rice in place of white which was good but a little under done for me and stuck to the plate. That being said TRYTHEADOBO! it was so savory despite looking like plain chunks of meat. My friend got the combo plate of teriyaki which I thought was dry(except for the chicken) and not great. I dig this place. Worth a drop in :)

Yummy! Who doesn’t love authentic Hawaiian food and a local business! The flavorful menu here is sure to delight even the pickiest of eaters(ie. my midgets aka kids) The building has a Hawaiian feel to it, with the Hawaiian radio station playing! The food does take awhile to come out. But hey you get what you pay for… so I am not complaining about this hand crafted deliciousness! If you in a hurry defiantly order togo at least 20 minutes in advanced…

Hole in the wall strip mall joint. The owner is a laid back Hawaiian. Nice guy who has been here for 8 years. We ordered the«Da Grinds» Mix Plate, Pork Adobo, meat balls. They don’t serve beer but the food more than made up for it. VERYGOOD… Pleasantly surprised…

Da Grinde plate was excellent. This was my first time here so I wanted to try all their meats. It came with Pork, Beef and Chicken teriyaki. Pulled pork was excellent followed by good Chicken teriyaki. Beef teriyaki came in 3rd place as it was not hot when it reached my table but it wasn’t a disappointment. The plate came with 2 scoops of rice and Macaroni salad. Macaroni salad was one of the freshest and best tasting I have had in a while. The interior of the place fit the atmosphere. I will definitely be going back to try other things.

I love this place. Great food and service. Best Mac salad EVER! Always get the mix plate so you get a little bit of everything. Owners are also amazing. I am a regular and was craving dim Mac salad. Went in it was a holiday at the end of the day, they whipped me up a small personal batch… It was the best! Aloha!

Went to this place for the first time today and had the mixed plate and pulled pork sandwich. The flavors were delicious and the portions quite generous. The mixed plate gives you portions of each Teriyaki chicken, beef, and pork along with their tasty mac salad and rice. Two people can easily share this if you’re not starving! The pulled pork sandwich has a sweet pineapple salsa on top. Generally, I don’t like mixing fruit with my food, but this really worked for me. We will definitely go back. A side note, the kids meals are generous portions as well.

Really good, authentic Hawaiian plate lunch. The macaroni salad is flawless; the kahlua pig sandwich was to die for. We will DEFINITELY be back, and often! Thank you for bringing back great memories of lunches enjoyed while we lived on gorgeous Oahu. Bonus pro– military discount — thank you!
