We used to eat here years ago and loved it, but it’s horrible now! Waste of money when there are so many other places that we could have gone that are amazing. Fried rice tasted burnt. It was just bad.

The main menu is pretty expensive and they charge for each person eating even when you share a meal unless you get the«pick two option» which is on a separate card on the table. The food is great though and if you get the«pick two meal» and share between two people its a lot of food for only $ 7.99(at dinner time) plus you can add a third item for just $ 1.99 and that’s very reasonable for Chinese food. My husband and I eat here often and we love it. The meat is always good and they have lots of options to choose from.

I’ve been to the Hong Kong exactly ONE time(last spring) and I won’t be going back. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken — as I usually order some sort of Kung Pao dish at the Chinese restaurants that I go to when eating out. As I like spicy asian dishes. The«Kung Pao» that I received from the Hong Kong, while very plentiful, was the lamest excuse for Kung Pao I think I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Their menu says it is «spicy». But it could never be qualified as spicy in my book. To make matters worse I asked the waitress TWICE if they would make mine EXTRA spicy. Yet what I received wasn’t spicy in the least. Another major turn off for me was I was having lunch with three others(a party of four) and we each ordered hot tea. And the Hong Kong — GREEDILY — charged every single one of us for a separate order of hot tea — yet there was only one tea pot on the table(that we all shared). GREEDY, GREEDY, GREEDY, GREEDY management at the Hong Kong.

A poor take on Chinese food. Have eaten here only a couple of times and have felt sick after eating here everything. Hope they turn the food around.

OMG that had to be THEWORST Chinese food ever. Is there anything on the menu that isn’t breaded and deep-fried? Disgusting.

We love Hong Kong! Yummy food, semi-friendly(yet attentive) service, and it’s quick. I love to eat the pork chow mein, pork fried rice, and mandarin chicken with all white meat. Although it costs more to get the all white, it’s totally worth it. My kids love the pork and seeds, too. The fish are fun to watch and it always appears to be very clean inside. The bathrooms are spotless, although they don’t have a changing table for changing diapers at. That’s annoying.

Probably the worst chinese food i have ever eaten and not just becuase the food was bad. I stopped after work and got an order to go and i didnt mind the wait becuase i figured i would get fresh hot food like i always expect from a chinese place. I was wrong as i got home not 10 min later and most of the food was cold and soggy. Now i wouldnt have minded that as long as the food was good which i was wrong again. I dont know who they have cooking back there but it isnt someone who knows chinese food. The pork fried rice was terrible, the manderin chicken was even worse. They gave me some kind of salad which had tons of celery in it, in fact several dishes had tons of celery like they were trying to use it as a filler. So please do yourself a favor and dont ever go here, not even to try it cuz you will just waste your money. In fact i wish i could have gotten my momey back for this crap food.

I have been eating at Hong Kong since I was a kid. Over the last few years when I have gone there the food has been somewhat of a let down. On my last visit I ordered mandarin chicken with brown sauce instead of the red because in the past the brown sauce has always been better, but this time it had a weird taste to it. Almost like a slightly burnt taste. The fried rice I ordered was pretty good. It’s not the best fried rice in the valley, but it is typically well made and I’ve never had dry or burnt rice from them. There Generals chicken on the other hand was by far the worst I have ever tried. Had I not known what I ordered I would have never known what it was. It was bland, yet the flavor it did have was awful. There food really isn’t that great, yet they win the best Chinese restaurant in Nampa every year. Now I would say maybe it was an off day or maybe I’m wrong, but after looking at most of the Unilocal reviews it seems that alot of people agree that the food isn’t that good.

One word… DISGUSTING! I cannot describe how awful the food was. We ordered Cashew Pork, Mandarin Chicken, Mushroom Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. I knew we made a poor choice when the Chicken Chow Mein came it was green and had sliced lunch meat across the top… yes, sliced lunch meat! I think we have found the WORST restaurant in America and it is in our town! We didn’t finish anything, didn’t need a box as our dog wouldn’t eat it and left. Gone for good.

The food would be perfect for prison, no flavor, cheap, and burnt. If you are thinking about going there is a great coffee shop up the rode to curve your appetite.

My 2nd time here and my wife’s first. We had Won Ton soup and Beef Chow Fun. Very good taste and presentation. Our waitress Nicole was very good and kept our glasses full. We went on a Friday afternoon around 2 pm so not a big crowd. Service was quick and food was very good. Price was not too bad with drinks and tip around $ 28. We will be back

Service was bad, food was OKAY. Only reason I give 2 stars is because they didn’t even put up a fuss when my 5 year old cousin said her grilled cheese sandwich tasted like cardboard. When a 5 year old says grilled cheese tastes like cardboard, something is wrong. They kindly apologized and didn’t charge anything. The only thing that was good was the fried rice. Everything else was either drowning in crappy sauce or overly fried to try and mask how bad it is. No one asked if we needed out drinks refilled, we had to flag people down to do so, and no one hardly even checked on us. Overall it really wasn’t that great. I probably won’t come back and I probably won’t recommend it. Bleh.

Food was good. Love the mandrin chicken with plum sauce. The fried rice is OK I don’t know if it’s brown rice or what but I wish it had more flavor(green onion). The menu is a little confusing without traditional combinations. Overall I would go back. The waitress was nice just not overly friendly.

I have been here a couple times now over the years. It is always the same. After my last visit I do not think I will be back. The location is great right on the corner of downtown Nampa. However the food is mediocre. It seems like everything we got was breaded and fried. The entrée’s come out with the sauces on the side. They are of the thick, clear, starchy type. The Mandarin chicken was a pile of deep fried chicken and rice. I have yet to find a great Chinese restaurant in Nampa. If you really want some great Chinese food it’s worth the drive to Yen Ching in downtown Boise.

Apparently Unilocal didn’t like my first review because it wasn’t «specific enough» when I said Hong Kong fries everything so you won’t notice how bad the food is. So here’s the details: The sweet and sour sauce on anything(including the junk that comes with those leathery egg rolls) has what I can only describe as a gooey sticky skin to it. You know, like pudding skin? So gross. All of our food was luke-warm and the wait staff was unfriendly. There are so many other better places to go, even in Nampa so please do yourself a favor and skip this disgusting restaurant.

I always pass this restaurant so my family and I decided to try it one day. We were«greeted» by a bigger woman with a face of a bulldog. I don’t know what crawled up her butt that day, but you she had the stink-face around us the whole time and lacked customer service which shouldn’t be difficult since her only job was«host» and greet us. Our waitress was a thin and older woman who was nice. She made sure my Dad got his beer and made sure that our drinks were refilled. We started with the potstickers, fried wontons and crab rangoons. Potstickers seem as if they were from a bag from Walmart and lacked freshness. The rangoons were okay and so were the wontons. I ordered the cashew chicken which had a turkey taste to it. I’m a woman who loves and knows her chicken, and half of my plate was certainly not chicken! I don’t know if the chef intentionally put turkey in my meal or made the mistake and mixed the two on accident. Who knows?

This place is so difficult to rate because there is such a varying difference between the positive and negative. For example the pork fried rice is about average don’t the Egg Flower soup is a waste of time. Like eggs whites have been cooked into a mild chicken broth base. Then there is the Mandarin chicken which truly is sweet and sour chicken. The temperature and chicken and south to see if you like that sort of thing and the phone is very good if you prefer sweet and sour sauce with one or two pineapples in it. I would like to not have to argue specifics but Mandarin refers to an orange chicken and a pineapple sauce is closer to a sweet and sour, if you are referring to generic Chinese food. It could be easy to pull over many of the items on the menu and take a tally of them, what’s my husband and I have done. At this point we know what we like and the restaurant is right around the corner from my house and it happens to be open later than many others in the area so we end up here. 90 percent of the time the wait staff is stellar and the only real problem with other side is a bonus at the Mongolian barbeque side. To review about we just ordered because my you get a massive portion the large bowl its water down and cook slowly vs the more quick message that is traditionally done for Mongolian. To get a good mom going over it you need to put an extra three to four scoops of sauce and at least a ladle and a half of oil. If you are in the area and you decide to stop by, I would suggest the sweet and sour pork and or the kung Palo chicken. the Rickshaw combos are also good. take it slow and find something you like. To does that say it is one star or 5 stars I haven’t seen either kind of service… i would say it is not stellar… but it’s not something that’s going to give you food poisoning either. *** note: pardon my grammar as I am writing this on my phone. Thank you :-)

As I read through the reviews of the Hong Kong, I couldn’t help but shake my head. The reviews do not accurately represent the quality of food or the quality of service that the Hong Kong delivers. I cannot speak specifically to each of the issues expressed by former or current customers. What I can speak to is my personal experience. I have been all around the US. In all my travels and all my time living in other places, the Hong Kong has always had superior Chinese food. I even lived in Hawaii for 4.5 years and(arguably one of the highest percentage, per capita, of Asian Americans in the US) and could not find one place that could even come close to the Hong Kong. Take this from a guy who spent 20 years in the Treasure Valley. Born and raised in Caldwell. Hong Kong is one of the best, if not THE best Chinese restaurant on the west side of the treasure valley.
