I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. My step-father made a reservation for 4 adults at the Island House for Monday 4⁄6 including him, my mother, myself and my wife. My step-father was unable to join us on our stay, but my Mother, wife and myself arrived to the Island House at 2:15pm on 4⁄6(check-in is at 3pm). We were informed that our room was not ready and that we would need to return at 3pm to complete the check-in process. This was the first red flag. So we decided to head down the road to make a few stops before returning at 3pm to check-in. We arrived back at the Island House at 3pm to check in with a different desk clerk, who made us aware that the room was still not ready, but we completed the paperwork and paid for the room. The clerk made us aware that she was«giving us a discount» by not charging us an extra $ 10 for the 3rd guest even though we booked the room at the rate of four guests. This was the second red flag. At this point, we sat near the pool area for the next 30 minutes while we watched the cleaning crew work on the room. Another 10 minutes went by, now making it 3:40pm(40 minutes after check-in). We unpacked our truck and carried our belongings to the room entrance, but had to wait another 5 minutes for them to complete cleaning. We were now 45 minutes beyond check-in and we hadn’t even entered the room at this point. I walked into the lobby and asked the clerk if there was any way that we could get some sort of discount for the delay in getting into the room and she instantly became VERY rude and said that there is nothing that she can do as she was not authorized to grant discounts. I made her aware that her colleague suggested to us at 2:15pm to return to the resort at 3pm and that the room would be ready. She simply did not care. I requested leaving a note to explain the situation to whomever did have authorization to provide a discount and she agreed. At this point, I walked back to the room entrance and continued waiting with my wife and Mother. While we were waiting, the clerk walked up to me and threatened to take away the $ 10 «discount» she gave us for having the 3rd guest even though we reserved the room with 4 people. I was speechless. At 3:55, we finally got into the room. The windows & door did not lock. That was enough for me to make the decision to leave the hotel. As I started walking out of the room towards the parking lot, the clerk met me on the walkway to provide the Wifi information card. When I mentioned that we wouldn’t be needing it and that we were checking out, she simply said«Good». I loaded the truck while my wife and Mother closed out the bill(which was returned in full to our credit card). This is the point where the hotel clerk told my own Mother that, «HEIS A REALASSHOLE» and again said that she was glad that we were checking out and not staying at her resort. Here’s a quick bit of advice, Island House, if you set your check-in times at a certain time, and tell your guests that arrive early, to come back at that time, have their room ready. And don’t act unprofessionally when they request a discount because you make them wait an hour to access their room. Also, fix your doors & windows.

Avoid at all costs… almost got arrested!!! We had 2 registered guests. After dinner, my brother and his wife stopped by the room after dropping us off. Within minutes of entering the room, the hotel phone rang. It was the old woman who owns the motel, who clearly watches the place like a hawk, saying we were only registered for two guests and the other 2 people in our room would need to leave immediately. Since we were not making a sound, I shrugged it off but within a few more minutes she called back again threatening to call the police… which she actually did. The police came, I explained the situation to them and they were actually very understanding. But since the owners would not budge or even accept additional money for the momentary guests, my brother and his wife were forced to leave! This sounds too ridiculous to be true but it’s not… we hadn’t made any noise, we hadn’t received any guest complaints, but the owner simply has nothing better to do than terrorize hotel guests. Complete nightmare. Avoid it like the plague!!!

Kind of a dump, but if you need a cheap place to crash it is perfect. Pretty clean. Reminds me of a place that the grandma from Something About Mary would live.
