I love a $ 1 bin & this place had many bins outside!!! The owner was super friendly. Recommended a lunch place too.

I’ve been to this shop twice. It’s not close to me but it’s always a pleasure going. The place is small, very small, however it does not lack for much. For a small shop they have quite a decent selection of just about everything. I typically go for jazz LP’s and classic rock as well. Both times I’ve been there I’ve found some nice second or later pressings of some pretty obscure jazz titles. Last time I left with about 10 jazz LP’s nothing to expensive but some really nice stuff. Some 70’s and 80’s pressings which were not too expensive but made the trip worthwhile. I also picked up some lesser known rock titles. Surprised me to find a really cool grateful dead artist’s solo album. «Keith and Donna» which o had never seen in the wild before. They as well have your standard New England folk rock section, James Taylor, cat Stevens, etc. these folk rock artists are so plentiful here in New England. They have some rare stuff on the walls. Some 7″ stuff which looked pretty interesting but I did not have time to look. The owner is your typical small record shop owner, nice but quirky. He has some cool memorabilia and will tell you a bit about how he knows CSNY. It’s right on the main strip of restaurants and shops near the bridge where all the tourists hang out. Lots of good food and people watching in the area. Some good coffee shops as well. Mystic of course is a pretty famous little New England destination. It’s right on the water and is a quaint little seaside town. While your there certainly stop by and at least look. You’ll probably find something if you collect records. Happy hunting!

One of my favorite used/new vinyl shops that I’ve been to. Prices are good, selection is awesome buyer what makes the store great is the love of music from the owner and the people inside. It’s quite a happening place! They even have a record cleaning machine and he vacuumed my purchase I left the store. This guy loves his vinyl and I would recommend this store to any enthusiast.

It doesn’t get any better than Mystic Disc! I just love this store. I’m a very enthusiastic record collector and I visit this store about every ten days or so, if the finances allow it. Dan, the owner, is a friendly and personable guy, very fun to chat with, and very knowledgeable. His staff is also very nice and extremely helpful. The selection is great, and being a hardcore crate-digger, I’ve found some hidden gems in the«cheap bins» as well! Hands-down, this is my favorite place in Mystic. Dan and company, keep up the awesome work!!!

Full disclosure: I am not some crazy vinyl freak who is obsessed with his record collection. I do have discerning taste when it comes to music & have recently purchased a record player so I’m going to start frequenting Mystic Disc more often in 2013. I don’t understand how you can’t love your local independent«record» shop. Yes, records. Vinyl never really died especially at Mystic Disc. I can’t really vouch for their selection but I just purchased a copy of AC/DC’s Powerage & can’t wait to use it on my(soon to arrive) record player. I’ve picked up some collector’s stuff on Black Friday’s Record Store Day & have seen plenty of current offerings on vinyl here. I’m pretty sure they carry CD’s too but can’t say if they have cassettes. Dan(who is usually there when I’ve gone) is definitely an outgoing guy who would make anyone comfortable. I never got a condescending attitude here! Only on one recent trip was the place not packed. It is a bit cramped & not really fancy but I kinda like that about it. No frills, bells or whistles. Just music & vinyl. Support your local record shop!

I recently had the pleasure of working wtih Mystic Disc while trying to acquire a rare record. They werre incredibly helpful and bent over backwards to assist me. It is rare to receive this kind of customer service. I am proud to say I’ve shopped with Mystic Disc and am incredibly grateful for their kindness.

Any record store that has a Metal section(or any sections, as that shows the owner cares enough) is good in my book. Even better if there are more than 2 rows to flip through. Average prices for these bet. $ 7 – 12. The selections I chose are in great condish, hard to find, and the service was really good.

Looking for great stock, historical knowledge, strong opinions, bend over backwards service, maybe a side helping of sports and politics? It gets no better than this. Go out of your way to stop here. Dan and Richie are the best. Locally owned and globally known. A+++!

Shawn, I’ve tempered my review. I first made a purchase at Mystic Disc about 20 years ago. I’ll never forget how the guy lauded my purchase of a Residents picture disc, but then dissed my purchase of a Primus album, to my face. Weird. Well, this past weekend I went again, as I was in town for Thanksgiving. I was looking to shop, and also to pick up one of the albums released on Record Store Day. First, they only received one copy of this particular album and decided to sell it on eBay to make more money. I over heard them talking to another guy that they would consider selling him one of the other Record Store releases because he was a ‘legit’ customer who regularly supported the store. It seemed like they were bitter that someone would actually USE them to BUY an album. Then they complained for the about phoney customers who don’t really stick by them(I wonder why). They suggested that instead of Record Store Day, people like«Paul McCartney, Dan Fogelberg should just give small shops $ 10,000, because they can afford it» instead of just offering verbal support of ‘Record Store Day’(which is a bullsh*t hoax that rightly infuriates lots of small record shops). Oh, and their defense for choosing to sell the Record Store release on ebay somehow related to the fact the«record labels give Mariah Carey $ 50 million dollar contracts»?! Alison D, their prices are a bit high. I get much better deals here in Brooklyn &NYC. But, Mystic, as a town, is overpriced all over. If you are into classic rock, blues, etc. this would probably be your best bet in the region.

I had high hopes for this place, but wound up pretty disappointed.(To be honest, this happens to me in most record stores I go to.) Very generic selection, I thought. Lots of Beatles. Some Tom Waits, but it was all overpriced(some used records were priced at almost $ 30. I have the same Tom Waits albums at home, bought for $ 5). I’m not a vinyl connoisseur, so the fact of the matter might just be that this is what shopping for vinyl is LIKE, and I’ve just gotten lucky in the past. Maybe I don’t have the patience for it, and I should just shut up and order my vinyl brand new from amazon for $ 20. Either way, I was excited to visit but left a little bummed.

I like Mystic Disc! Yesterday, I scored a promo copy of Fables of the Reconstruction for a cool $ 8.95. The store is pretty well stocked, but it’s not impossible to navigate. Things are organized and the essentials(a random new Seals and Croft album, too many copies of the Madonna Angel single, and a scarce sampling of over-priced Smiths discs) are on hand at all times. It’s simple: go in, find records, buy them– with a credit card, even– get out. I’ve never had trouble with the service, and once they stayed open a few minutes late for us to continue browsing.

I miss the Disc. Dan is the MAN! Where do you meet people like this guy? Nowhere, he is one in a billion. Nice, friendly, and an encyclopedic knowledge of music. The records can be pricey but thats what happens when a record shop gets smart and sells stuff online… He consigns which is amazing! Plus, if you tell Dan what you are looking for he will find it whether just looking through peoples’ records they are trying to sell him or on one of his recon trips some all the way to Europe. Not to mention Dan’s ties to the music industry and awesome personal holding like og 13th Floor Elevators… just makes you jealous you weren’t his friend growing up!
