The best sushi around and definitely go for your birthday, they celebrate the right way, with fire flower! Hopefully when you go Johnny is in the house, nice guy. Highly recommend Johnny muscles or the dinosaur roll, Mai fun, all fantastic, you will not be disappointed.

This place has the best General Tso chicken I have ever had. Nice and crispy chicken while the sauce was the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Whenever my girlfriend wants sushi this is the place I’m going to take her despite it being a bit longer of a drive. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and the menu is loaded with variety.

Was in the area recently for a business trip and this place was recommended for their sushi. It’s an Asian fusion establishment, so I was a bit apprehensive, but so glad we ended up here. We basically had the place to ourselves, so the service was incredibly attentive and friendly. We arrived with voracious appetites and ordered accordingly. I don’t remember all the things we tried, but everything was delicious. Tuna dumplings, yellowtail sashimi, assorted sushi, kani salad, and a ton of other beautifully prepared, fresh fish. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place and would absolutely return if/when I’m in the area again.

Came here for a friends birthday tonight. It was busy but they got our table of 5 seated quickly. Our waitress was very nice and kept checking on us. Most of us ordered sushi including the giant sushi for 2 which comes on a large wooden bridge platter. One person in our group had to wait about 10 extra min for his plate and most of us were done by then. The bday boy ordered fried ice cream and they included a candle and sang happy birthday. It was really nice. TV at the bar let me catch the Stanley cup playoffs. Wait staff is attractive. Especially the tall guy with glasses.

The host was great. A white male that was personable and friendly. The male asian waiter was delivering food and working. my waitress was taking forever to get to the table. She seemed(her voice) disappointed when I only ordered a smattering of sushi and 2 entrée’s. She said«that all»? Like I needed to spend more money. Sushi was, like everyone else is saying, just ok. two other orders, general tso’s and sweet and sour chicken were ok. Sweet and sour chicken was a poop amount of sweet and sour sauce(sorry, small poop) and a lot of batter over small chicken. The Gen Tso’s was good. 2 lost tiny sprigs of broccoli were found so I ate them. That’s it. just two small lil itty teenie weenie yellow(green) bikini. So now it’s time for the check and the waitress is gone for 10 minute. SO I used that time to get up and head to the restroom and there she is. sitting eating with other employees eating. I really dislike them working and eating while I sit wanting to get myself out of the restaurant so they can turn a table. Tip reflected the poor service. Ughhh… I don’t know if I’ll come back. I’ll be in the area a lot over the next few years and to hear a previous poster talk about how they didn’t honor the Unilocal check in coupon was disappointing. Hey, there’s a 5 guys next door and I’m fat. So maybe I’ll opt for fry’s for lunch or dinner instead of Sushi. My wife’s fortune cookie didn’t have a fortune in it.

The place was packed but we were seated quickly. The menu is vast… they have Chinese, Japanese and Thai foods. The shrimp dumpling soup was fantastic. My Peking duck was great, expensive but good. I had a sushi roll as an appetizer and it was thin and short… and expensive. This place makes sushi but I would never get it again here. The pork fried rice was the best I have ever had outside of Chinatown NYC… in fact exactly the same. My GF had the Shrimp Pad Thai, it was creamy and also top-notch. with 3 drinks total our bill was $ 98 without tip… expensive, but the duck was $ 29, and the roll was probably $ 15…so that $ 45 right there… remove those and replace with a more reasonably priced entrée and we would be at about $ 60. This place is the best Chinese I have had in years and I would definitely be back… though not for sushi. The waiter, Kevin, was great and very accommodating. The pros: the food was all great the staff was great The cons: small sushi portions some items are expensive no substitutions they advertise hibachi foods but there is no teppanakki grill

Started off with 5 stars… My friends and I were seated promptly and greeted by our server with warm hand towels. We were given our food menus and water. We placed our order then asked if they had a drink menu. The server said yes and quickly brought it over. My friends ordered a Cosmo and a glass of wine. The Unilocal check-in offer for one free glass of wine was denied when my friend went to pay. The server said it was only good for a glass of sake and asked if she would like one. Um??? Our food was served quickly. It was delicious. It was sushi. Not out of this world, but really good. I had the sweet potato roll, avocado roll, and pickled radish roll. I give the food 4 stars. I wasn’t happy that my server didn’t give me my change and just assumed it was their tip. Strange. They didn’t ask me if I was all set, they just never came back with my receipt or change. However, my fortune from my fortune cookie did read, «You only treasure what you lost». So yes I treasure my receipt, change, and the choice of what I give for a tip. would’ve given 20% but the choice was never mine… I lost it. Also, the server didn’t offer us dessert, nor did they ask if my friend wanted her daughter’s food wrapped up to go. 3 stars because of the service given on this visit.

We are less than a year to the area. On a Sunday looking for some good sushi. Saw all the great reviews on Unilocal about this place so we decided to order lunch. My husband called and the rude female on the phone stated they do not serve lunch menu on Sunday. Husband stated it doesn’t say that anywhere on your menu or website. She said«I don’t care, we’ve never served it.» Very very rude. We are new!!! How in Heaven were we supposed to know that??? Especially since it’s not mentioned. I can take mediocre food but never rude customer service. I know the lack of my business won’t bankrupt you but come on. Be a little easy on the new people. Sad really because the food looked really tasty. I will never know.

Without a doubt one of the most solid Asian cuisine joints in the area. We frequent this establishment, despite the high cost, due to the remarkable quality of ingredients and product. Lately, the past two visits, we have been extremely disappointed with the lack of detail with regards to preparing the order from missing ingredients to outright wrong items. Please get your stuff right as you are the last hope of fusion cuisine in the Mystic area.

The place is nice and clean but the sushi is nothing to rave about. The menu doesn’t have prices which was annoying. And the sushi itself wasn’t worth $ 12-$ 14 a roll. The rolls were relatively small and didn’t have much flavor. The p

So far only had takeout here once and I ordered just some sushi rolls to try it out. I definitely loved it! It’s the best place around this area for sure. I’m pretty particular coming from Ny where there are some amazing sushi spots but it def is the place where I will always return to now.

5 stars reflect the outstanding service and delicious food. The sushi beats some of the best in New York City. On a Friday night this place was packed with customers and great energy.

Ate here 3 times so far. Great menu. Fast and courteous service. Dim but clean restaurant. Place was never packed but never empty. Their lobster dishes are pretty good and their sushi, not bad. Great portions, never left hungry.

Extensive menu, excellent service, and food/sushi are delicious. Some of the sushi are a bit smaller than what I’m use to but great quality. You could never tell how busy or loud this place can be from looking on the outside. It is really hidden in the corner of a plaza that has Starbucks and Five Guys. This place gets busy. Glad we were able to be seated fairly quick not having reservations.

I have been here at all times of the day. It amazes me that although the staff is different the service is always the best. From the hostess, to your waiter/waitress and the Sushi chef everyone is so pleasant. Even the other waiter /waitress come to greet you and see how you are doing. What can I say about the last 101 meals I have eaten there? I have never, ever, had a bad meal there. They were always above par. Never was a meal just«all right» each and every meal was a delight to see and satisfying to eat.

I really love the sushi here. The fish is excellent. On my last visit I branched out and tried their mapotofu(szechuan tofu) and it really wasn’t up to par at all. Heavily loaded with diced carrots and sweet peas(?) the sauce was brown instead of red, and overall it just wasn’t very spicy at all. Really disappointing. Ordering drinks at table can be tricky as the floor staff don’t have a lot of English so if you want something specific you may need to go up to the bar itself. All in all a hidden gem in the area and if you want sushi specifically, definitely better than Go Fish across the street.

Tried the food here a few times, and always appreciated the quality and flavors. I like how they serve different cuisines. Great spot to get Take-Out food(call at least 20min in advance as they might get busy) Please note that i never dined in, so i do not know about their customer service! The lady at the front desk is great though, she is always on top of things.

Bluefin Tuna vs Yellowfin Tuna Lunch The waitresses are super cool here and provide great service, while the sushi chefs are top notch. Lately the sashimi has been very very fresh no matter what day I visit. Started with a white tureen if an excellent miso soup with pale straw mushrooms and green salad in a swoopy bowl with fresh ginger dressing. First I had a salmon skin hand roll. the chef roasted enough skin for two rolls do he made me another. it was sublime. Had the sashimi deluxe. Excellent fresh sweet fish. Tuna and maguro were delicious and the Japanese red snapper, Spanish mackerel, and yellow tail were amazing. I had done pasta: Seafood Yaki udon which was very flavorful and chock-a-block full of small pieces of fish and seafood. lastly I had 4 pieces of bluefin or toro sashimi VS4 pieces of yellowfin or maguro sashimi — to see if I could learn the differences in taste of each of these fish. here’s what I thought : bluefin tuna = toro more oily lighter pink slightly more seafood taste subtle tho smoother to eat melts in your mouth yellowfin tuna = maguro ***both yellowfin and bigeye tuna are called maguro — very slight difference in taste appearance sushi chef says darker more translucent breaks up into soft gelatinous cubes in mouth

I make a habit to come here every time I’m in Mystic. The sushi chefs are very skilled, and you can tell a place is popular when they actually offer toro. It’s an expensive product, so you need to be sure you can sell it all. After going to Sukiyabashi Jiro(from Jiro Dreams of Sushi) five months ago, I haven’t eaten sushi because I’ve tasted the best. I’ve sworn off mediocre sushi now that I’ve experienced that level of quality, but Johnny’s amazing fish and ingredients still light up my taste buds and brings a smile to my face.
