Great new addition to the shoreline. Went with another couple. Parking was an issue and had to park three streets away up on a hill. The area parking lot was full. The ambiance is great and I would not hesitate bringing business partners or anyone I want to impress here. Interesting concept. You are given an electronic tablet which has lists and information on various wines from different regions. We ordered a fruit and cheese platter that was generously filled with grapes, Apple, several cheese options. Tried a couple of glasses each of different wines. Great service, treated well by owner. We will be back

Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon when the«mimosa bar» was winding to a close. The entrance is located down a short staircase off the street/sidewalk. The front door was open to let in the spring air, thus I heard the noise of conversation when I rounded the corner of the building and began to descend the stairs. Inside was noisy and active with the brunch bunch. I found a seat at the bar and was immediately greeted by Jeremy, who brought water and asked if I had any questions. The small tapas menu and extensive wine list was available bar/table side via a small tablet computer. Very polished application that guided user to wines by region. I wasn’t in the mood to perform a full-on search, so I asked Jeremy for a Malbec recommendation. He promptly obliged and it was very good. Eventually I had another glass and a cheese plate with gouda, dill havarti, and toasted bread squares. All very good. Looks like they have daily and weekly specials and hold or cater special events. If I were a local, this would be a favorite hangout.

Much more approachable than the name or décor might suggest, Frizzante is certainly catering to a broad group of wine drinkers. The wine list is digital, and presented on a Samsung tablet. Searchable by price, region, and varietal, and provides ample descriptions so that diners unfamiliar with the wine or the style can still make a selection of their own. That may not be necessary, we were greeted right away by the owner of the place on a fairly busy night, and he was able to make very good suggestions from a fairly big list. I was a little disappointed that the list did not include a great variety of small lot, small producer Champagnes, given the name of the place I hoped it might. Still, it was not hard to find a nice wine or more to enjoy. I suspect the challenge was in finding the right wines to offer at an affordable price, the list is dominated by more affordable selections. From my quick glance, it seems the target pricing is $ 9 – 15 per glass. They offer a weekly wine class, and Sunday Brunch is a repeat event, all together its done with a nice touch.

Crazy surprise on a lazy Sunday drive thru Mystic. Staff is awesome, knowledgeable, helpful and laid back. Wine is good, the Vinipad is a bit of a pain, wine & food is great. More tapas selection would be what kept me from 5 stars. Worth a try if you love anything with wine.

I suppose if you’re looking for an expensive wine place then this is right up your alley. It just seemed like they were more concerned with showing off the fact that they knew quite a bit about wine than in making the customers feel comfortable. I know a great deal about wine, but sensed the attitude pretty quickly and checked out. Had 1 glass of decent red for $ 11 and left.

This place is located on the Groton side of the Mystic River. Not there’s anything wrong with that. ;-) I just wonder if outsiders realize Mystic is technically two separate towns: Groton and Stonnington, with the Mystic River running between them. I usually don’t like fru fru or uppity joints so I was a little apprehensive entering a «wine bar» in Mystic for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect. Let me just say that this place is the real deal. Its relaxed atmosphere put my anxiety to rest. It’s both classy and casual. Perhaps being located in a basement has a lot in contributing towards the casual part. But it’s also classy enough to take a date or impress your friends. The décor is carefully thought out and doesn’t come across as trying too hard. This wine bar could easily fit in somewhere in the west village in NYC. The only thing missing is that snooty city pretensiousness. Kudos to the bartenders. They never came across as pushy or overbearing. They seemed quite knowledgable of their wines and let me sample a few sips before getting started. The geek inside me loved the tablets idea. Every table has Samsung tablets summarizing their wines in stock. The tablet menu is divided into wines by the«bottle» and wines by the«glass». Prices are listed too. Don’t be afraid if your knowledge of wines is limited. You can always go with whatever the bartenders recommends. That’s what I did and it worked out great. There’s one small bar containing about five seats, but the majority of the space is filled with regular table seating. I was informed every Wednsday a wine expert visits and lectures for a couple hours. $ 15 for several samples. I’ll have to try that sometime…

The five star reviews are true. What a great experience. Try to be open minded when you sit down, and have the server give recommendations. The whole idea is to get out of your comfort zone based on your palate. We tried some awesome deep reds from Argentina and Italy that we never would have chosen on our own. We didn’t try the food because we were headed to dinner, but it looked delicious and smelled incredible. Try it out. You’ll love it.

Our waiter was one of the owners. We explained we were new to wine and didn’t know what to try. He brought over some samples to gauge our taste and recommended some wines. This is A+ service and made our night here very comforting and enjoyable. He was very knowledgable with the drinks and they have tapas to pair with. Overall, it’s a cozy, hip, unique place to stop into when you’re in town. Would recommend to anyone going to the area.

Ugh this place has and will have my heart forever. The ambience is incredible. Every wine connoisseur I’ve ever had waiting on us was personable, helpful, and never once made me feel stupid when my response to what kind of wine I like is «the white ones.» Also their dessert small plates are fantastic.

My wife and I went here for drinks before heading to dinner at the Oyster Club. My wife had a glass of Chianti and I had a glass of Cabernet Suavignon, both recommended by the staff. They were even generous and gave us two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. If we’re ever in the area again, we would definitely return.

Came here for girls night out with some friends i don’t get to see very often and it was the perfect choice as compared to the other crowded, loud bars in town! Kyle and Bobby were fun and attentive, the ambiance is great, and the wine and cheese board that we got were delicious as well(the blueberry goat cheese was the crowd favorite). The tapas are very reasonably priced and they have wine in a variety of price ranges as well. Will definitely be back!

My BFF and I decided it was time for a girls day out and the sunshine lured me to Mystic and this wonderful place. Most of my fellow Unilocalers have given the wine bar five stars and I wish I could give six. We got there right after noon time opening to be greeted by unlimited mimosas you could make yourself from many different juices and fresh fruit. I stuck to my favorite Pinot noir which did not disappoint. We ordered the Sunday brunch board and a order of meatballs that were just divine. I was craving cheese so the cheese board was added .I must admit everything was so good I did over indulge but I enjoyed every bite and every sip of wine. Everyone here was having a great time including the people who were attending to us. All the food and fruit were fresh, well presented and just plain delicious. I only wish I lived closer so I could stop in more often. Stop in and enjoy some terrific tapas and wine you won’t be disappointed.

Went there for the first time last night with my mom and sister. What a beautiful place! The décor was fantastic. Very welcoming staff. Extremely knowledgeable about there 120 different wines they carry. The wines were amazing. If you don’t Know what you want, or want to switch things up from your usual favorite, the staff members will recommend different wines for you. We wanted to sample their cheese platter, but had dinner reservations so we only stayed for about 20 min. Only to return again AFTER dinner for some fantastic truffles and champagne :) We definitely will be returning.

Frizzante is a must whether you live up the road or are in the area for a visit! This cozy little spot is just steps away from the main street and transports you to a wine cellar in France or Italy or Spain. High top tables surround the space(seating for 45 – 50 perhaps) with a handful of stools up at the bar. The concept at Frizzante is simple — wine(by the glass or bottle), champagne and customizable tapas boards. But by no means let the simplicity fool you. The 120+ wines on the menu are of the best quality and span the globe allowing you to find names you definitely won’t see elsewhere. The build your own tapas board gives you the opportunity to pick exactly what you’re in the mood for — meats, cheeses, fruits, chocolate. My boyfriend and I went in for a visit on a Sunday afternoon and were blown away by the quality of the wines and food but also the reasonable prices. Robyn was our server and spent some time asking us what we liked and disliked. She then brought over several wines for us to try. Typically people don’t let you try wines if you’re ordering by the glass, but this place does. They want to make sure you’re drinking exactly what you’re in the mood for! We built our own board that featured their beet humus with crostini, pears with an aged balsamic, manchego cheese, soppresatta with a spicy pepper chutney and a fantastic burrata. The board was about $ 30 and we had the perfect amount to eat between us both, but more importantly the quality of the food was beyond anything we could have expected — so fresh! Our server Robyn told us she’s been with Frizzante since its inception. There was no doubt in our minds she has a contagious passion for both hospitality and wines. We found out that she just recently bought the place herself and is taking over with her son. She has extensive experience in the industry and her dream has been to own a place of her own that makes you feel like you’re sitting in her living room. Make it a point to stop in here — whether you’re in the area or plan a trip to Mystic just for Frizzante! I promise you between a phenomenal glass of wine, the tapas and a laugh with Robyn who makes anyone feel like family, it’ll be a one-of-a-kind experience you’ll be talking about for weeks!

I came here with some girlfriends for some pre-dinner snacks and vino on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently 3pm is the perfect time to show up because several couples came in after us. The bar is rather small(seats 6 – 7 at the most), but there is plenty of table seating to accommodate. Their tapas are a la carte at reasonable prices and you basically build your own artisan food board with as many choices as you like! All options come with olive oil crostini and are built to share. The portions are generous and everything is of good quality and super fresh. As a wine geek, let me tell you. these guys know their stuff. With over 120 by the glass offerings, it’s a sommeliers dream! Extra brownie points for having a single varietal Roussanne bottling, let alone offered by the glass — my fav and so hard to find! The wine list covers every major region, style and price point. They also offer custom built wine flights(only at the bar). Not a wine nerd? Not a problem. They have tablets at every table that allow you to seamlessly search for wines by varietal, region or style(red, white, rose, sparkling etc), making it easy to find something you like. If the rest of the staff are anything like the man who waited on us, they will no doubt be more than happy to assist you in picking out the perfect glass — super knowledgable without being pretentious or snobby! All in all, good wine and food are meant to be shared, and Frizzante exemplifies this truth. I may not be happy about living 2 hours away from this new little gem, but my wallet sure is because I would be here ALLTHETIME if it weren’t for the distance! Can’t wait to come back!

New favorite place!!! I got to try a bunch of great wines for free, which was awesome cause I’m still figuring out what I like. They were even able to talk me into red for my second drink… which I usually never get cause I seem to hate half the reds I try. :/Looved the Whitehall Cab! Also, the dessert wine is heavenly. Highly recommend the blueberry goat cheese! I don’t have a huge budget but I was able to find quality stuff in the lower price range. :) apparently they do half off mimosas on Sundays… so down!
