Not very pleased at all. Me and the fiancé were looking for a hotel close to Foxwoods when looking online this hotel showed to be 6 minutes away. When we pulled up to the hotel it said 20 minutes, how lovely it’s New Years Eve and this means more money for taxis. We walk to check In and the lobby stunk and looked very old, they need an upgrade! While In the lobby a couple said they have no heat, the lady at the front desk said they just turned the heat on(3pm check in time), and that all rooms would be cold. So now I’m panicking it’s freezing outside. So we get to the room and it wasn’t freezing but the heat does work. The room was so small and looked like it was dirty. The bed was so small and the room was even smaller. The shower was really weird, it never got completely hot and the shower head wasn’t a real shower head it looked like it had been ripped off, the water pressure was horrible. I hate cold water! Especially during winter time. It also provides free breakfast but it’s nothing good. What a bummer! They have enough parking but the hotel is right in front of a cemetery. I wouldn’t stay here. It was very cheap looking I didn’t even feel safe it felt like a Motel. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This Econolodge is well priced for the area, but the rooms are rather dismal. The wifi worked well and the staff were very pleasant, as were the other guests. Frankly, if the staff had not been so nice and helpful, I would have given this place 2 stars. For an overnight place to crash between sightseeing or during a road trip, it’s 100% fine, but I would pick somewhere nicer for a romantic getaway.

For the price($ 50) category this room falls in, I give it a five star review. That does not mean it compares to a $ 200 or $ 300 per night five-star hotel. This was under $ 50 and definitely deserves five stars for the price. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, a TV that works with well over 60 channels, ironing board, and iron, a microwave that was clean and in good working condition, a small fridge that was on and cold, a hair dryer, clean linens, clean bathtub and toilet and vanity area. The two things I could complain about but I really won’t because of the price. The carpet was a little bit beat but it’s meant to walk on not sleep on. It was below zero when I stayed here and the heat pump struggled a bit to keep up but all in all I was comfortable. So, I will say it again, it’s a five star review for a room of its price category.

We did not even stay the night and demanded a refund for the unacceptable condition of the room. It smelled overwhelmingly old and musty. The door did not close properly, you could literally see the outside while inside the room with the door shut and locked. It was freezing inside the room and the heater was clearly old and probably unsafe to even turn on. THECHERRYONTOPWASTHEMOUSE/RAT DROPPING we saw on a chair in the room that my friend almost sat on. The man at the desk would not authorize a refund until the housekeeper came to the room to confirm the dropping was in fact feces. If I were an employee of I would not want to be associated with this facility and would strongly recommend taking it off of your website. «You get what you pay for» is not even a reasonable justification for the state of this place. You would literally have to pay ME to stay there. I can only imagine what else we would have found had we not left as soon as possible. OSHA should get involved and shut it down.

Please please I implore you do not read this review unless you have far too much time on your hands. Don’t do it. There are far better things that you could be doing with your time. You could learn a new language, apologize to someone that is important to you, you could clean up your effing dirty bathroom. I don’t intend for this review to be anything but excessively long and you know what. that means that it won’t be very readable either. Originally there would have been no reason why I would be staying at the Econo Lodge. I don’t mean that I am above it. It is just that I would have not been spending the night in Hartford. I was slated to be backup at a conference so I was just going to go down Monday morning and head back at night. Given that I wasn’t planning on this being a fun situation but I was expected and would have been passable. It turned out that the main person had other matters that prevented them from going and suddenly I was the point person. Well, the only person. On top of this when we were getting further bits of confirmation we came to find out that the scheduled set up time was during the day before and was scheduled to close at 8pm. Now with a situation like that you need some place to crash. So it’s off to the internet and the old sort by lowest price first. With little knowledge of Hartford the choice was really just a matter or reasonable cost and close proximity to the convention center. The location is about what can be expected. Not prime, not downtown, but close enough that it doesn’t take your long to get where you need to go. When I checked it the desk clerk quickly went through my information but I had the feeling that he was not happy about being pulled away from the movie that he was watching on his laptop. Rather than getting detailed instructions about where to go I was simply told that the room was to the back and up top. I did take a moment to look at the room layout on the counter top before heading out. The room was basic an passable. Angles on the edges of the door led me to believe that it had either not been put on very well or was starting to wear down as it seemed to veer away from the frame in places. The bathroom seemed clean but there was some internal damage to the bathtub. I was also weirded out by the cleanliness seal that they put on the toilet seat. Am I supposed to believe that if it did not have the seal I would be exposing my rump to horrible bacterium? One of the biggest letdowns for me was the ironing board. I know that may seem odd but the cover they had on it was ill fitting and led to multiple moments of crease correction. Really how hard is it to have a proper ironing board. Perhaps if you stay at an Econo Lodge you aren’t allowed to look good. I do have to give them minor credit for their bed. I don’t pay a great amount of detail to bedding but my back will let me know if something is really wrong. The included breakfast from what I could tell was watter coffee and some hostess donuts and when I went down to check it out I could not find the staff member so I tossed my swipe card and left. Now it is understood that if you get a certain type of accommodation there are certain things that you can expect. As a motel there isn’t anything that this Econo Lodge really messes up. I can’t imagine most people going here and really being disappointed. By the same note there are flaws at this location that bring it down below a certain standard. It could use some improvement and it would not take them that much to offer a better product.
