Their grilled cheeses are out of this world. We don’t live in the area but always stop in when we’re down to visit. The blue cheese and bacon is so good, the caramelized onions add an extra layer of deliciousness. Also the spinach and pesto is stuffed with melty gooey cheesy goodness. Haven’t had their cupcakes, not a big fan of sweets. We did however pick up a salami and a cheese to take back and devour on our own time, neither of which lasted long.

Best cupcakes I’ve ever had. We went back a second time before leaving town to get sandwiches and cupcakes for the road. Pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese frosting and blueberry with cream cheese frosting were amazing. Husband had the salted caramel(I tried a taste and it was great!) and the café au late which he really enjoyed.

I’ve tried a few of the cupcakes here so far. The pineapple cupcake with cream cheese frosting was the best. I stopped in another day for a bleu squid cupcake and a double chocolate. The chocolate was a little better than the vanilla but both had frosting that was just too much. The vanilla frosting taste like that super sweet canned frosting. The cake on both was fine, and was soft. I just took the frosting off and ate the cakes. They also refrigerate them so you have to wait to eat them. The pineapple one wasn’t too bad but I got the other two on a different day and they needed to soften. I passed up my favorite cupcake shop, Lis, to try something new. Dissapointing. Lis always keeps everything room temperature too, much better. The cupcakes here are smaller but just as expensive. I will stop in again sometime to try the grilled cheese.

To put it simply, this place is amazing. I ordered the sauteed spinach grilled cheese and it was fantastic! The cheese melted perfectly and the spinach was fresh. I also ordered the signature Bleu Squid cupcake, a vanilla cupcake with chocolate ganache filling, and I can safely say it was one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. As an added bonus, the people that work there are genuinely nice and helpful. I will definitely be stopping by again!

Oh yeah! Very very good and surprisingly so for an area with so many tourists. The tourist thing isn’t a knock, just typically you get overpriced underwhelming food in tourist districts. Not the case here. Its mixed in with the other shops so parking near it may prove difficult but its worth the walk(may even burn off a few of the calories). We picked up and brought home The Arti(opted for whole grain bread), Spinach(whole grain bread as well), and a signature cupcake. The Arti was more vegetables than cheese which I really liked and the Spinach was more cheese(four cheese blend) than spinach which I also liked! So the two of us had a half of each and we got the best of both worlds. We picked up a Bleu Squid cupcake and split it between the five of us(2 adults and 3 kids), hey, we are at least trying to watch our figure! The cupcake was very large but very light at the same time unlike a lot of the other cupcake joints that weigh you down and make it nappy time. The cupcake had a touch of crunch from the cake and the blue frosting was very light. There was a surprise ganache in the middle. Overall a solid cupcake. I looked at their other flavors and they had things such as S’Mores, M&M, salted caramel, Guiness!!, etc. I strongly recommend you give this place a try.

Had the red velvet, moist, not overly sweet, and great frosting. Their«dirt balls» were also amazing!

Stopped by Mystick Village to stretch our legs on our road trip and came upon Bleu Squid. We got cheese, crackers and two of the most amazing cupcakes, ever. The Salted Caramel is the bomb! Dense, delicious cake with the perfect amount of icing drizzled with caramel. Also got a pineapple cupcake that was moist and delicious with a really awesome cream cheese icing. The cheese we selected was a soft cheese with vegetable ash. I’m so sorry I don’t remember the name, but the gentleman working helped us select it(after allowing us to taste a few). And the cheese was so good. We got crackers with baked cheese and it was all just delicious. They also sell Orangina, which is one of my favorite drinks. All around worth the stop!

The best cupcake of my life comes from this shop. I’ve tried many other cupcakes and nothing compares to a simple coconut cupcake from the bleu squid. The cake is moist and delicious and the cream cheese frosting is heavenly. They also have a butterfinger cupcake that is melt in your mouth good. The grilled cheeses are also very tasty but what keeps me coming back are the cupcakes!!!

Cupcakes were great! The young blonde server was extremely rude. We apparently were frustrating to her. We ordered two items. Won’t go back there. Last time I checked the only reason she has a job is because customers pay a pretty penny for the items they sell.

This is one of my favorite places to bring family from out of town! Admittedly, the only cupcakes I love from here are the dirt bombs, which I can’t get enough of! But the grilled cheese are to die for! My favorite is the pulled pork when they happen to have it on special! I’ve tried almost every one they have on the board over the years we’ve lived here and never been disappointed! The pesto and spinach is great as is the chicken and apple! They will also let you pick and choose to make the sandwich you want if you don’t want what’s on the board! The order and pay system is a little off(I don’t think I’ve ever paid at the same step of my visit. Some times before I get my food sometimes after…) there isn’t a lot of seating(three tables outside and two tables for two inside with some bar seating).

Stopped in today after a volunteer event in the Village… Decided to test the«best cupcake» title. We entered the shop area, it had cute little picnic tables outside and ducks randomly walking around. Upon entering the shop, we were greeted by heavenly smelling grilled cheese. It was savory and smelled like heaven! My stomach growled instantly. We went to the cupcake counter, my family chose three. Kahlua, Pineapple cream cheese and I chose the famous Bleu squid. The kahlua was a strong coffee taste that then turned to chocolate heaven. The pineapple cream cheese was both sweet and decadent! The Bleu squid was pure bliss. The blue cake was moist and flavorful without being too sweet. There was a perfect choclate frosting inside and the purple actual frosting had just the right amount on top so it was a treat without being overwhelming! We cant wait to go back! The prices were amazing!

A place dedicated to grilled cheese, um how could anything get better. Seriously, this place is awesome. The bread is always fresh and there is a wide variety of cheeses and toppings you can choose from. I love the grown up grilled cheese on sourdough. I have heard wonderful things about the lobster grilled cheese as well. If you are in Olde Mystic Village, this is a must try!

I just don’t understand how any of these cupcakes ever won any sort of award and I don’t understand how ANYONE would think these cupcakes were exceptional. I hope I just went on their worst day or something because they were that bad. My boyfriend and I bought 4 to share and we are both big cupcake fans. I cannot even begin to tell you how terrible these cupcakes were. They were absolutely dry, not an ounce of moisture in these things. The only redeeming quality about them were the frostings but what is a good frosting without the actual cake to go along with it? I will never eat a cupcake from here again. Yuck. Super disappointing.

Just had their famous lobster grilled cheese and it is one of the best I’ve had I must say! It’s definitely a bit pricey but I know the overhead at Mystick Village must be crazy. Great service, atmosphere, customer service. I will need to go back to try the cupcakes but will absolutely go back for another lobster grilled cheese soon!

A MUSTVISIT, if you love grilled cheese! Every time I hear«Blue Squid», I think of my favorite grilled cheese sandwich I had there and *drooooool*. Chicken, gouda, sautéed apples and onions, multigrain bread… nom nom nom. I live pretty much live(EDIT: lived — moved July 2014) across the street from the Mystic Village(at least for five more days). I’ve been here since Dec 2008, so I visit the village quite a bit. It’s SOOOO difficult to not to go there! The cheese selections! Oh man… now I want grilled cheese… from there!

I happened upon this little place, and it was great! It’s a wonderful spot for lunch or an afternoon sweet. Their grilled cheeses are fantastic! I had the artichoke on sourdough, and it was very good and filling. I finished up with a cupcake, but it just wasn’t doing it for me. The frosting was a little too sweet for my taste, and the cake was a little dry. If I was really craving a cupcake, though, it would have been great. Of note, their chairs on the patio were fantastic. They looked weird, but they were probably the most comfortable lawn chair I’ve ever sat in.

One of my favorite places to eat is Bleu Squid located in Mystic Village. Many years ago, I came into this shop to admire their array of cupcakes and decided to order their«Grown Ups» grilled cheese which is just a four cheese blend between two buttery, crispy slices of sourdough. Simple, clean flavors all for $ 4.75. You are going to hear me say this a lot but you cannot get anything this tasty in NY for under $ 5! Years later, when I think of Mystic, I think of that grilled cheese sandwich which I was lucky enough to have again this weekend.

Oh my heavens, where do I even begin? Set your GPS to Bleu Squid now, and have a friend read you the rest of this review while you are on your way there. This is a tiny sandwich shop in Mystic Village that specializes in various versions of the grilled cheese. I ordered the artichoke, roasted tomato, mozzarella, and pesto on wheat bread instead of sourdough. It was literally the best tomato, basil, mozz I’ve ever had. They use fresh baked bread, and toast it expertly. The ingredients are so very fresh, and each sandwich takes several minutes to make, which in my opinion, is a great sign of an awesome place that cares about the food it produces. Bottom line is, this place is a must try. Shhh. I don’t care if you don’t live close by. It’s worth the trip. Go. Now.
