Full 5 star review for the beer options, knowledgeable bartender and service. We didn’t grab eats, to be fair. Great selection of local, regional and American made beer. If you have questions you should ask the bartender for a new(not Coors or Bud Light) beer to try based on your style of beer preference. I grabbed a growler of milk stoudt! We’ll be sure to visit again and stay to try some of the grub!

I honestly had a great meal. I am staying next door at the Hampton for a couple days and it was nice to have a nice restaurant attached to the same parking lot. I saw Tuesday they have a happy hour and trivia night so I avoided and came after so I didn’t have to deal with the noise. Stephen my waiter was polite and attentive and gave the exact amount of service I would expect for a table of 1 reading a newspaper. They carry my bourbon Woodford Reserve Double Oak and the sushi and edamame were priced right. The over zealous negative reviews are not deserved for this bar/restaurant and I will be back — maybe even tomorrow. I had the JB Roll and for $ 6.99 it was a steal. I probably would go 4 ½ stars but rounded up to even out some undeserved reviews. If you are in the area it’s a change versus Ruby Tuesday and Olive Garden. If you are staying at the Hampton it’s a no brainier since you can have a drink and walk back across the parking lot. Worth a visit.

We stopped here on our way out of town after shopping at the outlets. We were happy to find that on Sundays not only is your bar tab half off but you can order from the happy hour menu! We had quite a few dishes from the happy hour menu. Zippy shrimp, fajitas, pizza rolls, steak nachos, crab legs, southwest eggrolls… It was all good. We would definitely recommend the zippy shrimp and steak nachos as a must have. We even got an order of shrimp to go after we ate all of our first order. Our server, Brandon, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the drink offerings. He made great recommendations and was very flexible with my grandmother. He definitely made the experience even better. Which says a lot considering we were already making plans to come back on our next visit. The atmosphere is all that a bar should be, even down to the bathrooms. I don’t usually take the time to write a review like this, but this place is a must when you’re in the area. We will definitely be back.

This place is awesome. They have an outstanding choice of craft beer. And the food was excellent. Happy hour offers some of the best apps and small plate specials. The sushi is good but the wings are my favorite. And to top it off the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I want to give this place six stars. I ate there the entire time I was in town. The inside is really nice too. Definitely go there and check it out for yourself

TL;DR– beer was good, food was meh. My parents just moved to Myrtle a few months ago and were excited to try this restaurant after reading great reviews and noticing that the parking lot was always full. On our last full night visiting, my husband, parents, and I decided to go during Pint Night. My dad was especially excited after reading the beer list and menu the hour or so before we left. Geez, what a bummer. Should have known from the Comic Sans font. Beer selection was pretty good; however, it had a lot of pretty low-rated beers, outside of the typical macrobrew ‘lite’ varieties. My husband and I live in a town where there are more microbrew breweries than grocery stores– we know good beer. I asked the waitress if I could order a flight, and she said no, we couldn’t do that. I’m sorry, but a place that touts 60 beers should have a flight system. It was nice to have a full bar but the liquor based drinks were too sweet. Then, food. Having an empty stomach and a 11% beer, I was excited for food. Shoulda tucked that excitement away. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. The bun was acceptable by itself but had no structure to hold even the small amount of pork and the practically nonexistent slaw. It was also incredibly dry, which I was not expecting. At least the fries weren’t greasy. My mom ordered the chicken fajitas, which were served like tacos, which is a damn shame. She made it through one of them before she couldn’t eat them anymore. I tried a piece of the chicken and what a mess. Cumin. Just cumin. No salt or pepper or garlic or coriander or chilis. Cumin. It was suffocating. Also, extremely dry, with a pat of salsa on the side, which was watery and no help at all. My husband and dad ordered the Philly cheesesteaks. I knew my husband would hate it as soon as I saw how pale the bread was. So pale, like barely cooked dough. I asked them both how they were: my husband, being polite, said it was alright, which is code for ‘I’ll power through it’ and my dad agreed and said it, too, was dry and needed something like an au jus or sauce. Rather tasteless, considering the list of tasty ingredients inside. Again, at least the fries weren’t greasy. Overall, we were all extremely underwhelmed, especially considering all the great reviews and the constant fullness of the parking lot. We all had to wash down the regret with some great moonshine from Palmetto Distillery. Perhaps its the location loyalty or half off beer hour that keeps people coming back, because surely it can’t be the food when there are so many other great local places to go.

Loved the place and the food. We were not aware that beer on a happy hour was $ 5 and $ 6 which was disappointing when we saw the bill and the server Sarah never disclosed that to us and we were a large group of people. We specifically told her that we were there for the happy hour… I don’t have a problem with the price I have a problem with the server not telling you that.

The best French dip in town. I daydream about the French dip. The hoagie is super soft and soaks up the perfectly salty and beefy flavored au jus. The meat is lean, tender and very flavorful. I’m not a beer lover, but the blackberry cider is amazing! I would definitely recommend this place.

Stopped in later on a Saturday night for dinner. Very nice craft beer selection — food was very good — what set this place apart was the happy hour specials that they were running! A lot of apps and sushi to choose from. They are currently running them all day Sat & Sun during football season!

This was an interesting stop for dinner. We originally hadn’t planned to come here, but our normal sushi place lost power and we had to come up with a new place on the fly; on down the list to the Gumpy Monk. The main part of this review is I need to go again. We had a very weird experience there. The service when we got there was just strange. I couldn’t tell if the waitress was new or not, but she got some drinks mixed up, didn’t bring us extra plates until we asked twice and just overall seemed flakey. We finished two bowls of edamame before she brought us plates we asked for to put the shells on. In addition to that I had to ask twice for water refills which in my book is a huge no-no. I’m a big water drinker and if you keep my glass full im happy. Me having to constantly ask all night is not cool. The other big issue we had was that we ordered all sushi and one burger. Apparently the restaurant has two kitchens, one sushi, and one regular food and they don’t talk. At all. So after we order entrees and apps. First thing out of the kitchen is my burger, followed one minute later by out appetizer the edamame. Then not only did we get my entrée before the apps came, the other sushi still hadn’t come ten minutes later. Since we were trying to have a family meal, I waited to eat until the sushi came which still hadn’t come yet by the time my burger was no longer hot. To the manager’s credit, he handled the situation in a great way. He sent for a new burger, brought it out himself with all the sushi, and gave us a free dessert. If it wasn’t for that this was a two-star review based solely on bad service. The food here is absolutely four stars, it was amazing all around. The sushi was good, and the burgers were incredible. Not to mention they have TONS of beers on tap. We’ll definitely go back here, and hopefully the service doesn’t stand in the way of amazing food again, I want this place to be great.

Honestly, it was very difficult to figure out how to rate this place via stars… Our experience was not the best. But it did get turned around! The waitress seemed new to the job. She was very slow, forgot to bring numerous things we asked to be brought to our table throughout our dinner. We had 5 people in our party. 4 of which ordered sushi, while the 5th ordered a burger. The burger came out TEN minutes before all of the sushi did. We were trying to have a nice family meal together so the burger just sat on the table getting cold, while we all waited for the rest of our food. We got so impatient waiting for the sushi, we asked to speak with the manager because this was just totally unacceptable. We were told that there are two separate kitchens — one specifically for the sushi part of the menu. And the another kitchen for the burgers, etc. Which does make sense, since ya know, raw fish and all. But you’d think the two kitchens would be able to communicate better and be able to time all the food for each table. The manager corrected the problem correctly after we expressed how disappointed we were with our first visit. He offered to take the cold burger back and bring out a fresh one when the sushi was finally ready to come out to us. Then he explained that we could choose a dessert on the house, since our whole experience was not how it should have been. Now because everything was corrected and handled properly, we will gladly come back and try the grumpy monk again.

This place was fine. We thought this place was terribly difficult to find. We got there and the hostess didn’t seem happy that we were there, our server was nothing special. She brought our drinks, beer and a long island ice tea-esque thing, then we both ordered a Grumpy Monk Burger because it had peanut butter on it which seemed interesting. It was a really well cooked burger and tasted really good. Our waitress came over when we finished and dropped off the check, then proceeded to come back every 2 minutes to check if we had paid yet, which we hadn’t. We were still drinking our drinks. She had obviously been cut and didn’t want to be there anymore. We finished our drinks and headed out. Also there was a guy playing live music way too loudly. I couldn’t even hear my boyfriend talk over the sound of the music. Thats just too loud.

I wish I could give negative stars on this place. I have eaten here three times and each time it has gotten worse. Pre made nasty greasy food and the bartenders won’t acknowledge your existence or make a proper drink. They don’t even know their own recipes! It’s pathetic. When I brought up my grievances with the manager, she acted like I inconvenienced her. If you are visiting and pass this establishment, keep on cruising. Only thing you will be missing is a terrible headache and stomach ache. I will never come back. * forgot to add, servers are also incompetent and talk trash about the only NICE and competent person in the establishment. The hostess. It’s sad when the host is the only positive about a place.

New craft beer place out by the Tanger outlets off 501. They have 46 different craft beers on tap. The best thing though they have hands down are their wings. They are smoked and amazing. Get them naked and the sauce on the side. Trust me! Ask for Aaron as your bartender if he is working. Great guy that knows the beer menu backwards and forwards!

well the first time we went for a late lunch, it was an off experience, the server was«out of it» she seemed confused, when ask about a particular item, she had to look at menu, told us it was due to it being a new menu, our entrees arrived before our soup or appetizer, when we ask where is our apps, ad soup, she says on the way, then a moment later tells us she forgot to put app order in… our soup made it. Another server saw my empty tea glass and came and offered to get me a refill, but she was going to take my glass and as she reached for it, it was clear she was going to grab the top, putting her fingers where my mouth goes on lip of glass, so i tell her no i see my server, and she has a pitcher of tea with her, well turns out a friend and his wife were at the booth behind us, out side i say my server was off her game, my friends wife says, «nope i am pretty sure that is her best game! when we came today i was praying that we did not get her again!» few days later we went back for dinner, server was super and on her game! we had sushi, it was good, took a long time, we had finished our appetizer and waited a good bit on sushi. our app was a dip with corn chips they season the corn chips, our s were a little heavy on the seasonings.

Very nice beer bar and they have some interesting cocktails and food. The Zipp-A-Dee-Do-Dah Shrimp was very good and the Surf and turf sushi was something different and good. However I am still a sushi purist and prefer just seafood in my sushi. But hey it was different and it is nice to try new food! The beer selection is very good and diverse. It is nice see local beers taking a prominent spot in the line up Will definitely be back during our stay here!!!

Very pleased! Went there for dinner and drinks on a Friday evening. It was perfect, live music playing, large crowd, a few high tops left at the bar. We dined in the bar area. All the food we had was really good. The sushi was impressively delicious! Last but not least, the beer… They have a great selection of craft beers on tap. The service was good too! Very friendly staff! Try it out! You won’t be disappointed.

Just a quick hit-and run review for the craft beer lovers among us! I know a number of locals have been chatty about the beer selection so I decided to do a little recon. Always nice to see a new place go in with a great beer selection. The environment here is comfortable, yet busy. The bar area is split off from the main dining and sushi bar so there is a little roaming room… The bar; however, does have several high tops so seating doesn’t seem to be an issue. As noted, I didn’t get too much time here, but while I was enjoying a nice Dogfish Head 90 min. IPA, I snapped a pic of the beer menu(which is all that really matters, right?!) and had a quick look around. I look forward to coming back for lunch. The Monk Burger w/bacon and peanut butter sounds strangely compelling to me. I mean, that doesn’t sound weird or anything, does it? Nice place, situated almost directly across from Tanger Outlets on 501. Again, see pics for beer(menu) selection. It may get shrunk down a little when I upload it, but you should still be able to zoom in on your phone. Have fun! –Neil NOTE: Follow me on Unilocal for more local reviews!
