River City Cafe

This is a great quirky little place! The ambience is very eclectic & different. My kids really enjoyed being able to draw on the table & were constantly pointing at all the stuff on the walls. Our waiter, Lucas, was wonderful! He was very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The only down fall I would say is my mushroom Swiss burger was just good, not great. The mushrooms are not sautéed, almost seemed like canned pieces of mushrooms. Other than that, the prices are reasonable and the ambiance, family friendliness, and employees make up for the sub-​par food. I will return, I just will make sure to order another burger next time… Or just eat their cheese fries with house made ranch!

Eating here has become a crucial part of my trips home to MB. Their food and service has been the same for years– and I’m not complaining!
Seriously– everything I’ve ever had here has been delicious. From the onion rings, to the wide range of burgers, to the fries! Is it gourmet? No, but then again, that’s not what they’re selling. The prices are great, and the food is always fresh and consistent in quality.
I had the palmetto burger this time (topped with pimento cheese. Oh heaven.), and my husband had the nacho burger. We both were very satisfied with our meals.
What more can you ask for? Good food, good drinks all a block from the beach!

We had a really nice time. I have gone to all three of the River City restaurants. I like Surfside best but all of them were fun. Reliable good food and drinks

Why 3 stars? Well the burgers were what you would expect from a burger joint. Décor was interesting with car plates all over the wall from different states. Apparently Ohio residents frequent this establishment.
I gave them 3 stars because I wasn’t sure if the burgers made me sick or the fact I hadn’t had red meat in a while. The burger I had tatsed good going down, the Mrs wasn’t impressed with her shrimp burger and didn’t finish it. I had a smoked bacon cheddar burger with all the fixin, it was good.
I will say after eating here I loss my taste for red meat again. But don’t let my review stop you from trying them out…

The wings are great, the burgers are well cooked, good toppings.
I have been to RCC many times where the wait times have been awful, I have seen several families just up and leave or show immense frustration with the staff. I’m sure like any restaurant help calls out or no shows and the manager and good workers get overwhelmed.
If you stay in the northern tip of MB (Ocean Hwy after 70 up to the Marriott) it’s a good walk but worth it if you pig out like we do.;)

I ordered the prime-​angus burger platter with three different cheese and swapped the fries with sweet potato fries. All of that was so delicious! The atmosphere has a comfy, down-​to-​earth vibe and the server, Michelle, was very friendly! I will definitely come back here! :-)

I have never had a bad burger at River City, however the service leaves something to be desired. Today while on lunch break, my colleagues and I decided to grab some burgers. We arrived at around noon and ordered at approx. 12:15. We made it a point to ask for our checks due to the notoriously slow service. We did not receive our food until 12:45 and after waiting 15 min literally had to walk up to the counter in order for someone to take our checks so that we could get back to work (already being late.) I regretfully have to remove this restaurant (although the burgers are good) from our lunch time stops. I did not feel any urgency from the server even though he was informed we had to return to work. If you want a good burger and have an eternity to wait then please be their guest, but I will not be going here again.

My parents and I ordered takeout on 9÷5÷15. I ordered a grilled turkey burger, with monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and fried egg. I also ordered an appetizer of their sweet potato waffle fries. My mom ordered a prime-​angus burger, with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. My dad also ordered a prime-​angus burger, with american cheddar, lettuce, pickles, fries, and slaw. Their menu states their burgers are fresh, never frozen, and they’re correct! We’ve never had a bad meal from River City. The quality remains the same every time we order from there.

This place was nothing special. Mostly fried food and burgers and too sweet alcoholic drinks. I had a strawberry daiquiri that I’m pretty sure was 100% sugar. We also got chili fries and buffalo boneless wings that were pretty good.

The burgers are just ok. I had very high hopes for river city café. The food was super greasy. Got it, this is a burger joint but to me it was overly saturated.
We had a long wait for lunch along with mediocre service. I don’t think I’ll be back.
If you aspire for a dive with burgers and beers this is your place. I like to have better service, food and large selection of my adult beverage.

Total dive bar. The burgers were great but the service was not. We were seated and it took 15 minutes for our server to come greet us. We were the only guests there at the time. Once he acknowledged us, it got better but still not great service. I would come back again if I wanted a good burger but thats about it.

The food was okay, nothing special. Customer service was a little off. They had a table for 6 open when my family of 5 walk in and no one on the list. They gave the table to a waitresses family that came in right after us, and had us wait 25 mins. Not to impressed with either

Food slowwwwww, but okay. Nothing exceptional, but I didn’t have some of the more outlandish burgers that other reviewers said.

Best place in Myrtle Beach! Try the burgers or the popcorn shrimp.

Favorite burger place in Myrtle Beach. We usually walk here from our condo when it’s good weather. My favorite is the RC burger as it is pretty much loaded with everything you could want. My girlfriend enjoyed the Doritos burger, which is just what you think it is. Last time I got the Texas BBQ Burger, it was good but I had to ask for extra sauce. I prefer to get one of their burgers that come with chili. We have been eating here since back when it really was a shabby, ratty looking shack. They have multiple locations now, but I believe the old shack was the original. They tried to keep that feel when they rebuilt after the old location was removed to make way for expansions on the Sand Dunes property, so expect mix matched chairs, writing on everything and hundreds of old license plates and random nicknacks on the walls.

The grouper sticks were decent. My husband had the fried mac and cheese burger and said it was really good. I’m giving it 3 stars because we waited a good hour for food. Our waiter even handed us a check before our food got to the table thinking we already ate. Other than that, everyone was friendly and prices were really good.

Cute place with great food. Vegetarian/​Vegan burger that did not disappoint (and they normally do). You can sub any of their burgers with the vegan patty. I had the four cheese burger? Something like that and husband had the vegan patty with Mac n cheese on top. He said it was good but a bit dry. Mom had a real burger and everyone was full and happy. Fries were good. Also peanuts are self serve and they do the throw the shells on the floor thing…

Awesome burgers! I had the turkey burger and it was very good. My cousin had the fried mac and cheese burger, and she was a little disappointed because it wasn’t what she expected, but she still enjoyed it. The fries are awesome and the never-​ending peanuts (and throwing the shells on the floor) is a plus! The prices are good and the staff was friendly. Loved looking at the license plates all over the wall. We only found 3 Illinois plates, so they need to add more: D!

I love love love the turkey burgers here. We are here in Myrtle for 6 days, and we will come here 6 times! Get the Turkey Nacho Crunch burger! So good!

Fantastic burgers at reasonable prices. Came in for a late lunch and received prompt and friendly service. The onion rings appetizer was phenomenal. And the Nacho Crunch Burger (topped w/​guacamole, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and DORITOS) was tremendous.
Atmosphere is beachy casual, with brown paper table tops and license plates from all over the country adorning the walls.
Parking was a little confusing — the spaces right in front of the restaurant were metered. But every car in the spaces seemed to have expired meters, so I wasn’t sure what was going on there. I didn’t drop any quarters in, but I’m pretty sure nobody else did either? Adding to the confusion was a sign on the front door that said something about parking for River City Café customers only. I guess I should’ve asked, but I was hungry and immediately forgot about it when the menu hit the table.
