Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar & Grill

The food was great, but the service was terrible. Our waitress, Mandy, was awful. I saw her 2 times. To take our drinks and to take our order. A different girl got me and my friends refills and cleaned our table. She even got mad at us for telling her take take her tip off the receipt when she didn’t deserve anything. Probably wouldn’t go back, but if we did hopefully we don’t get Mandy.

Tanner is awesome! Great personality! The food was incredible too! Love the fresh cut fries and that chili on the «not your mama’s nachos»!

Great seafood, friendly service, and a fun and relaxed outdoor atmosphere.
Vacationing in Myrtle Beach for 30 years and this is one of the top places for our family.
Will definitely return.

My experience here was great.
Actually had 2nds in all.
These mussels in garlic, butter and sherry were the ultimate.
Had to ask for bread to soak it up and just get every drop of this so very tasty sauce.
The oysters here were fresh and smooth.
Staff was friendly and attentive.

Terrific service! Perfect place just off the beach for a yummy lunch! From 1 – 3 they have $ 8 oyster roast which is a terrific bargain. Tanner will even sit down and shuck for ya if need be! Today the grouper sandwich was yummy. With a full bar, this place is a perfect weekender’s spot.

176.00 for 7 people to eat and all of the adults had fish tacos with beer. 3 children had children’s meals. The food was ok if it had been $ 75 – 90 but for anything over 100.00 I expected more.

The service was excellent; fast and friendly staff. The food and atmosphere were also great. Especially liked the oysters and crab cakes. Would definitely go there again to eat and would recommend. Oh, and the cold beer is a plus too.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The outdoor eating area was disgusting. Tables were filthy with no one wiping them down before we sat down. The fact that the outside eating area smelled like sewer gas didn’t help their review either. The Men’s bathroom was one of the nastiest I’ve seen at a restaurant with the walls and floor covered in urine and the smell was so bad, I had to hold my nose. Aside from the lack of cleanliness, the food was not good either. I had a jalapeño cheeseburger with a baked potato… nothing fancy. The baked potato tasted like it was sitting in a warmer for days (dry and almost rotten) and the cheeseburger was overcooked and dry as a bone. My friend ordered the oysters and said they were decent, but later that night, she got sick from them. Avoid this place!

This place blew us away. Walking distance from our hotel and open late. The seafood is unreal. We spent way too much money here. Also includes a bunch of fun shots and drinks. I had the Octopussy and a double sex on the beach. We went back every night until we went back home. Hopefully we’ll be able to go again.

Ate there yesterday. They have happy hour 50 cents each item, selected menu. So we ordered mussels, clams, shrimps, chicken wings and dozen oysters which were not on special. Oysters were full of sand. Everything else was less than average. Two small fries were $ 5, if you saw how it looked like you would laugh. Imagine taste. We sited outside and flies were all over us. Waitress was unbelievable slow. I mean I can go on and on. Only bottled beer was good, I mean cold enough. Tourist trap that’s all what this place is. Usually I don’t write reviews but I am getting tired of these tourist traps and I would like to help my fellow citizens. I am just wondering what they are thinking about us so they serve food like this. Probably that we don’t know anything better. Take care folks and have a good day!

Fresh Oysters Blackened are excellent. The crab cake app is full of meat, hardly any filler. Try them both with the cocktail sauce that was spicy, but good. The atmosphere is similar to Margaritaville at Broadway with island music playing and crazy wall decorations. The main courses are good. I had the blackened chicken with a baked potato and my wife had the land and sea, which is a steak and your choice of seafood side. Will come again on another trip to Myrtle. Be aware, its not the largest building for seating, so get there early for that

Wonderful shrimp fritters! Awesome Cajun shrimp basket served hot. Great service! Would definitely come back for more!!!

I’ve been here before and can say the food is great. The shrimp tacos are my favorite! It is a very small restaurant with limited seating and at the time we were there only two people were serving (bartender and waitress). It was on a Sunday afternoon and a cheer competition was in town for the weekend. You would think their would have prepared for the crowd, so our wait time for food was longer then expected. Otherwise cool little place.

Sadly everything about this place was horrible. It’s «Dirty» Don’s for a reason. It’s small, loud, and chaotic. The food was way below average. I had the crab cakes, I would have preferred Mrs Paul’s frozen fish sticks. They were filler fried clumps, like crab croquets. Baked potatoes were a day old, hard as rocks, and reheated. My husband had the blackened oysters. Gummy and tasted like they just threw on some blacken spice on top right before serving. She crab soup was the okish. Not really. I think this place would be better off just being a bar with a simple bar food menu. Total waste of money.

Great place to hangout for dinner. Pitchers of hand-​poured drink specials available, great menu and really friendly staff that are happy to steer you in the right direction. This is as good as it gets for pitchers of alcohol and fried or cheesy seafood.

I am writing this as I’m sitting here for 1.5 hours waiting for our food to arrive. Poor waitress, it’s understaffed and too many customers. An otherwise decent restaurant, with a good name that draws new tourists every day.
Food was average but the waitress made up for bad experience by comp’ing a few drinks. Saved a one star rating.

Now this is my kind of place! This «Key West» style restaurant serves up amazing food, drinks and over all vibes!
Walking in automatically puts you in a relaxed/​vacation mood. They offer indoor and out door seating and décor is humorous and authentic. The server was super friendly;she noticed right away that we were from out of town and made small talk.
She recommended the ice tea and I really wish she didn’t! It was so good that everyone at the table had about 5 glasses, lol !
The Jerrette’s Oysters were HEAVEN! I ordered the raw and I am so glad I did! They were quite large and extremely fresh. With a little lemon juice and cocktail sauce, it was extremely refreshing. They were so good that we ended up ordering another dozen.
Oyster Salsa: baked oysters with salsa and provolone cheese might sound a little odd (at lest to me it did… at first) but it was surprisingly delicious. While there was a little to much «juice» in the oyster shell from the salsa and cheese, the favors worked so well together. Definitely something worth trying.
Shrimp Fritters; I was not crazy about this dish. It was a little on the dry side and I would have preferred the shrimp more present in taste– In all honesty if I was not told there was shrimp in it, I would have never known.
Fish Bite basket: Hands down the best fried fish that I have ever had! It was fried fish had the perfect amount of flour on it and not greasy at all! It was so good that I did not even use the Dirty Don sauce that came with it. I ordered my basket with coleslaw inside of fries which made the dish extremely refreshing. Perfect meal for an after beach day!
I also recommend trying an oyster shooter: the bartender did not skimp on the pepper vodka (; and a generous sized oyster on the bottom.
Fantastic lunch, I only wish they had a Dirty Dons closer to NYC for me to visit more often.

I thought this place was going to suck. I asked the girl for Fish n’ Chips and she said «I’m not sure what that is… We don’t sell chips. We have fish and French fries.» Anyone who works at a seafood place and had never heard of fish n’ chips… That’s not good.
However, their version of fish n’ chips is fish bites. The fish was awesome! The batter was lite and golden and I liked the tarter sauce. My son had the popcorn shrimp which also tasted great. We had some coconut shrimp which were awesome as well. The onion rings were good and the spicy sauce that came with it was good too.
So, other then having a ditzy waitress, it was a nice time. I’d for sure come back for those awesome fish bites.

I was on a scouting trip in Myrtle beach and Dexter and I need some place to get a meal. When I travel with Dex we stick places where he can eat with me outside.
I honestly didn’t think the food was going to be that great but I was surprised. The fish, hush puppies and coleslaw where all pretty darn good. The bar drinks are above par, keep in mind you’re at the beach so hurricanes and boat drink will abound.
The crowd was quite neighborly for being a tourist town and everyone was welcoming. It was obvious that the regulars hang out here.
My favorite type of place.
