Your Plate Or Mine

There is a woman there with short gray hair that is the most unprofessional human being I’ve ever encountered in a business setting. She has no idea how to speak to customers and how to treat people. She was horribly rude and should not have a job anywhere near that business. She may even be the owner which is beyond me. I was there literally 2 minutes today and had to take my business elsewhere.

It was so fun to paint pottery! The store is adorable and has lot of cool options of things to paint – from little ornaments to big plates to piggy banks. It’s a bright and cheery place!

I’ve always, always, always wanted to paint pottery, and I’ve hinted enough times to make the bf’s ears bleed before finally telling him «we’re going pottery painting tonight.» Luckily, he obliged, and we came here for our date night!
How to get started:
1. Walk in, say hi to the friendly employee. The store closes at 9, and they talk walk ins until 90 mins before close, so make sure to arrive before 7:30.
2. Allow yourself a good 15 mins to pick out a piece to paint and paint colors. So you should ideally come by 7:15.
3. Pick something to paint! We picked owl mugs at $ 12 apiece. Most mugs are $ 12 – 14.
4. Listen to the friendly employee give you a quick run thru of the paint, brushes, stamps, etc.
5. Pick paint colors, brushes, stamps, etc and paint to your little heart’s content!
6. Pay for your goods! I think the studio fee for adults is either $ 8 or $ 10…and for kids, it’s $ 6.
7. Come back in a week to pick up your brand new pottery! (Or pay $ 7 for the first piece, $ 3 for additional pieces to rush your order and have it done within 3 – 4 days.)
Tips:
–don’t be the idiot I was and think you can finish painting in less than 1 hour. You’ll be stressed and frazzled. and your owl will come out looking dumb. :(
–dark over light always, but white covers everything
–if you mess up, remove it with water. but doing so removes all the layers of paint
–they say 3 layers will give you opaque results, but mine didn’t come out fully opaque after 3 layers. Maybe bc I didn’t wanna wait til the layers were fully dry? :/​
Over all, it’s a great stress reliever, excellent date idea, AND a lot of fun! Go me for an excellent date idea!
