The quality of the food & especially the service has gone way down. The hot dog bun was so dried out, you couldn’t eat it. We miss the«professional» waitresses they use to have working there. There’s always someone new there, I wonder why. You sit there and hear of one the new one’s talk about how she doesn’t like kids, doesn’t want them and just wants to stay single & work. You only see the owners come out when it’s busy, walk around & check on you. When a problem arises with a customer not being satisfied or waiting for over 30 minutes for a meal when it’s not busy, they hide & send someone else out. We no longer go there.

Typical diner food. We had breakfast. A good meat and potatoes place. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Good value. We would go here again

Never had a bad meal at Tootsies. Love their pancakes. and their Pretzel burgers are the best! I love diner food, and this is as good an all American diner as you’ll find anywhere. Staff is always welcoming and gracious. Prices are very reasonable with special discounted deals on Wednesdays.

My wife and I are breakfast-type people, trying out new places whenever we can. We chose Tootsie’s Diner because I read an article on mLive that this is one of the best breakfast joints in the area. We enjoy all kinds of breakfasts, from country grits and gravy fatback all the way to Yuppie brunch — no matter the style, if it’s great we love it! At the entrance the diner posted signs boasting much the same, that they received awards and ratings as one of the top ten breakfast restaurants. Perfect! That’s what we seek — truly great breakfast. Inside was very small, about a dozen tables, cheesy décor out of the box faux ‘50s diner made popular about two decades ago. Service and pricing were very good, prompt and very pleasant, our initial coffee orders came up quickly but were average quality as far as diner coffee goes. The food also arrived shockingly fast. My wife chose one of their more interesting specialties, the breakfast tacos, while I had a Western Omelet with hash browns and marble rye toast. The tacos were tortillas, chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheese, tomatoes — as unoriginal as it gets for this type of dish. Quality, however, was far below your average unoriginal, as the chorizo and eggs were bland, rubbery and tasteless, with no sauce to make it halfway interesting. My omelet was a massive 4-egg monster with a brick of melted cheese wedged into the fold alongside a giant pile of dried-out ham, intermingled with oily, sad diced green peppers and onions. Potatoes were not the worst, just bland, boring and lukewarm. The bread looked great but sadly, tasted stale. I was hoping for Tabasco to help this lukewarm mess out, but they only had Tapatio which I’ve never had and found out I do not like at all. Very large portions of disappointing food, and from the Twilight Zone our check arrived with complimentary Tootsie Rolls. So very odd.

Wanted to rate lower but couldn’t. My father and I went today Midmorning for breakfast I was applaud by the service we received. First I ordered coffee, when I received my coffee I didn’t receive a spoon nor cream. I told my server of the items that I hadn’t received her reply was I’m sorry I didn’t know you wanted cream. Second I ordered oatmeal when I received my oatmeal I didn’t receive any milk or brown sugar I had to remind her twice in regards to this. Third my father asked the sever for jelly again he had to remind her that he wanted it. Not once did our server come to our table and say is there anything else I can get you OR thank you for coming. Last but not least a women came out from the back not sure if she was the owner or not but anyways she passed by our table said hi then went to every table in the resturant and said hi and how was the food by this time I was floored. We ate our food, went to the counter and paid and vowed never to return. I did leave a tip 12% my father felt I shouldn’t have due to the service but the food was ok and I felt some kinda way not to. I should have spoke to the manager but at that point I felt it was useless. What’s done is done.

We had heard that Fridays at Tootsies was the place to go for perch. The meal was okay but for a dollar more, the Hearthstone, on Tuesdays is much better. In fact, the best perch in the area and we’ve tried many. Had breakfast at Tootsies also, and it was okay too, but nothing special. Probably will not go back.
