This is one of my frequent lunch stops when I’m in Muscatine. I’ve eaten here 6 – 7 times. They have good attentive service and very good Thai food. This is on the upper end of the dining spectrum in Muscatine. I recommend it.

I stopped here for lunch one afternoon and so glad I did. This was my first time in Muscatine but as soon as I saw Thai, I knew everything would be okay. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and had it at spicy level of three(there are four levels). It was SO good. It was part of the lunch special it came with a hot and spicy soup, that was good too. That rice though, was just what I needed. I hope I can make it out there again so I can systematically order the entire menu(minus the curry, I hate curry). All in all, it is a great place and you should go eat there!

Great food! A good place to have a conversation over dinner. We enjoyed the menu very much and it’s a casual place to eat good Thai food and enjoy a conversation.

Considering most of Muscatine’s restaurants are bland boring pizza or Mexican food(how many of these same type of restaurants do they need, seriously?) — this is a great break from the norm. Their food is good-flavorful, the presentation is appealing, the service and ambiance is great. Eat here!

I travel alot for my job so it’s easy for me to stumble upon randomly exquisite places such as this. I went in for lunch and the ambiance was great. The food however was even better. The LETTUCEWRAPS are a must have and I don’t believe you can go wrong with anything on the lunch menu. What I liked most outside of the service was how well the meal was presented very professional and very well priced. Kudos!

I have had the Red Hot Stir lunch portion twice already and I love it. Tantra is my favorite restaurant in Muscatine and one of my favorite Thai Restaurants in Iowa. I have never had a bad experience here. If you are in Muscatine, this is a place you should visit. The staff is very kind and attentive without being to pushy. The food is absolutely delicious and served very quickly. And if that isn’t enough, it is very reasonably priced. What else could you ask for? 5 star for a complete positive experience.

I’ve eaten here twice in the past two weeks. Previously I’ve eaten here about once every year when I came to town to visit relatives. I sense that the quality has dropped –fried rice dishes were served Luke warm; noodle dish was much more greasy than in the past. But still it’s a nice place with decent offerings. And worth a try.

Love this place! I love the soups. The crispy lettuce wraps are great. I have tried several dishes here and my favorite is the pineapple fried rice. My whole family has never had a bad dish here. They can accommodate large groups. When we all get together there is 15 of us and this place is still fast at getting the food out. The décor is simple and nice. It has always been clean when I have been there. It is great for lunch or dinner. They’re great at adjusting the heat scale in your dish to whatever you like. Prices range from $ 10 – 15 for dinner and cheaper for lunch. All the veggies are fresh and cooked just right. My husband likes curry and they have all been good here that he has had. They don’t have a children’s menu.

My family’s go-to restaurant for special occasions, especially birthdays. The Roti Canae chicken curry with puff pastry appetizer serves 2 and is our favorite starter. The grouper is my favorite & most frequently purchased entrée, and I always take home about half for another meal. Generous servings. Atmosphere is serene with a view of vintage brick buildings & a glimpse of the Mississippi River parkway. I’m familiar with Thai food & lived in a metropolitan area with a long-established but closed due to retirement, very well-known Thai restaurant that issued certificates for those of us who survived their Angry Dish lol. Have no fear of excessive heat at Tantra Thai Bistro. Tell your waiter if you want little or lots of heat. The location is in the former Hotel Muscatine converted to condos with one of several roof gardens in town. Private free parking, handicap accessible, near pearl button industry museum & boutiques. Only negative is the restroom situation that hasn’t been updated since the late 1960’s in the building’s lobby.

Circumstances have not allowed us to try Tantra Thai until recently. We are in Muscatine a few times a year, but are normally limited in time and dining preferences of our hosts. This time I was here for a week and included Tantra in my rounds. I started with lettuce wraps with ground chicken. The filling was marinated in a very good sweet and tart sauce with slight heat. It had a good mix of vegetables although I would have preferred less red onion. I followed with Tom Kha soup with shrimp. The soup was delicate with light coconut and lime. I liked that the coconut milk was not too heavy. I only wished I had not let the server take away the left over marinade from the lettuce wraps, it would have enhanced the soup. My main dish was a generous order of red curry pork. The curry was good, well flavored. It could have used more heat and next time I would ask them to spice it up a bit. The pork, while tender and not over cooked, needed to be marinated prior to cooking. I love Thai food and this is one complaint I have. You get these nice tender slices of chicken or pork in your curry or soup, but the meat has no flavor and the cooking method does not allow for flavors to soak into them eat. All in all it is amazing to find this place in Muscatine and the food is certainly worth trying. I am no expert on Thai food and I will not say it is the best I have had, but it is decent and worth a return.

We live in a nearby town & have eaten at the Bistro about 4 times. The food has always been great, service is good and the ambience is excellent. We have now tried ALL the desserts and you cannot go wrong. We really enjoyed the Green Tea Ice Cream and the Red Bean Ice Cream at our last dinner. Terrific find in small Iowa town.

Stopped here during a soccer tournament and after reading other Unilocal reviews we decided to try it. We were there on a Saturday morning so it was pretty dead, but we were seated pretty quickly, had out orders in quickly, and the food was quick too. The food was flavorful and the servings were big too. Soy sauce might need to be added to some dishes, but for the money this is one of the best places to eat in Muscatine.

I really like the Tantra. The food is really good and the severs there is usually pretty good. Never have problems. You can order their food from The Pearl, the bar next door, if you want to sit and drink with friends. It’s a great place all together.

I came to Muscatine on a business trip with very low expectations on dining out, but I didn’t expect my dining experience to go below my expectations. My co-worker and I ordered scallops, chicken lettuce cup wrap, combination seafood stir-fry, and asparagus with shitake mushrooms and shrimp. Granted she and I were stupid for ordering seafood on a Monday in IOWA. Anyhow the scallops came out tough and hard to chew. Chicken lettuce bowl was okay. And then our main courses were absolutely inedible. The sodium in the dishes made us super duper full… of water and we had to waste the food. I didn’t think anyone could shoddier Asian food than me, but I guess I met my match. I will never try Thai food outside of big cities ever again. Note to business people from big cities: Skip this place and just go to the greasy diners or bring your own lunch. On a more annoying note, this place does not take AMEX. Roar. Now I have to submit receipts and jump through some administrative hula-hoops to get reimbursed.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We were worried about it being excessively spicy; however, it is in Iowa. We avoided anything marked as spicy and picked three wonderful dishes. The best was the Mango Coconut Fried Rice. The Chicken Satay appetizer didn’t disappoint either.

Not impressed and will not go back. Calamari and Scallop appetizer was overdone. Red Curry with Shrimp was basically Curry Sauce added over boiled shrimp. That is not how curry should be made. The shrimp should be cooked with the curry. Curry is not a sauce. Its sorta like a stew. Also, they do not take Amex. I had a business dinner there and had to pay with a debit card.

Finally I’ve found a good place to eat in Muscatine. With all the greasy spoons that are ridden in this town I was skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised with their prompt service, décor, and fresh menu. I’ll be going back with my family to enjoy more items off their menu. So far I’ve had their Panang curry, red curry, asparagus and shitaki, coconut rice, and pad thai with pleasant satisfaction!

Surprisingly good Thai for being in the middle of Iowa. Good was fresh and very hot. Banana egg roll appetizer was paired with sweet/sour sauce which was odd. Sizziling salmon entrée was well marinated and very hot. I would go back here.
