I was skeptical trying a name brand plumbing service as opposed to a local small business, but it was an emergency and after hours. Not to mention, we are brand new to this neighborhood and so I had no idea where to even begin looking for an emergency plumber. I gave Roto-Rooter a call and the woman that helped set up the appointment was as kind as could be. She was cheerful and patient with me as I was scrambling to get the appointment setup. Someone was at our home within 1.5 hours of the call. Luckily, we knew where the water shutoff was for this particular leak, but there was so much water pooled in our air ducts and leaking from our garage ceiling that we had to have a plumber take a look. The gentleman who came to assist was also kind and thorough. He confirmed that we shutoff the water, he determined where the leak was coming from and offered to fix it(the fridge). We declined due to the age of the fridge and are brand new(read: broke for a minute) homeowners. He didn’t charge us a thing. He gave us instructions for draining the water from the air duct(which was in the garage), offered to help us clean up the water(we declined that too) and was on his way. I am NOT giving them 5 stars because they didn’t charge us. I would have given them 5 stars regardless. Simply, I was pleased with their service and friendliness in a world where customer service seems to fall by the wayside all too often.

We had a sewer back up on Sunday and being the ‘semi-handyman’ that I am, I tried to unclog it myself. I used a small drill powered snake and a garden hose to try to blow the line clear but nothing worked. Then we called Roto Rooter. John Goldsboro showed up about 1.5 hours after I called them(it was ‘next day appointments’ with other places). John came in and we started by discussing his fee. I mentioned a competitors rate advertised on tv and he gladly matched it. Then he got down to business. My house is old with clay(terra cotta) lines all through the floor with the rest of it having been upgraded to PVC(or whatever letters it goes by now). John was very knowlegeable in old and new plumbing, found numerous breaks & cracks in our clay pipe and offered suggestions on the temporary way and on the recommended way to fix it. Even telling us what was ‘in code’ on our plumbing and what was ‘not in code’ on our plumbing.(the house was owned by a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy and it was obvious when we bought it that some things weren’t in compliance…). I would recommend John G. for ALL your plumbing needs. He’s very friendly, courteous and knowlegable… I’m very happy with my Roto Rooter experience and gave you 5 stars…
