I found myself in the large IMC Murray hospital for some tests and I was given 20 minutes for lunch; certainly not enough time to go to any of the nearby restaurants so I was stuck with the two eateries on the IMC campus — the Subway and Night Shift Coffee. I was a little reluctant to try Night Shift because I thought it would only be coffee but I overheard that there were sandwiches and soups and after looking at the line for the Subway, I decided this was definitely the place to go. This place offers much better sandwiches than the subway — blue cheese artisan bread and such. I had the homemade chicken salad and beef barley soup. Pretty tasty and much better than Subway. Unfortunately, this place is going out of business and closing down permanently in 2 days. So much for choosing local. I really wish this place would have survived over the Subway.

This place is incredible. Great coffee, great staff, great fresh local food prepared when you order it. Their salads, wraps & sandwiches rival some of the better places downtown. Highly recommend. Plus local first!

Editing Note: The address listed above is incorrect, the correct address is 5171 Intermountain Drive in Murray, UT84123. I am not a coffee fan so when I stumbled upon The Night Shift Coffee Company behind the Intermountain Hospital on State Street I was pleasantly surprised to find much more than your average run of the mill coffee joint. It is called the Night Shift Coffee Company but it is much more than that, they offer a wonderful assortment of soups & sandwiches(on a limited basis) in addition to snacks, desserts, and oh yes, coffee and tea. It is in in odd location behind the hospital in the medical building which at this point just means that there is ample parking and you rarely have to wait as the lines are not very long … yet! This is a great place to grab a morning coffee(or tea, my wife loves the passion fruit green tea), a lunch time snack or a late snack(or coffee) as they are open until 10:00pm. The first time that I stopped in I had a delicious bowl of potato soup and a soft drink(I told you that I am not a big coffee fan), and my wife had a turkey sandwich with cucumber on rosemary bread which she absolutely loved with a hot chai tea. The owner, Curtis, prides himself on making coffee«the right way», not being a big coffee fan I am not sure what that means but based on what others have told me it means that it is really good and makes that Star-something place seem like flavored burned water! I continue to go back and enjoy trying all of the many things that they have to offer while my wife and I catch up on the events of the day. The service is awesome, the staff is very friendly, and it is a local establishment … win, win, win!!! Remember … Be Local, Buy Local!!!
