Went here for lunch. Miso soup-cold. Sushi-excellent. Service slow, and grossed out mid-meal when our drinks were swapped with someone else’s. The waitress«refilled» «our» drinks and returned a glass with lipstick on the glass and on the straw. I wanted to 5 star this place but that’s gross.

Our large group had a really disappointing experience, last night. The staff seemed total unaware of our reservation for 20 people, that had been made the day before. We had reserved the party room, but it was not set up. No apologies were made by the waitstaff or manager. I understand that reservations can be lost, but the utter lack of professionalism and sense of urgency, to rectify the situation, was unacceptable. It was an hour after our original reservation before we even finally received drinks. The hibachi performance was extremely rushed, with none of the usual flourishes(shrimp tossed at your mouth, etc.). The food was mediocre. They never even came to ask if we wanted dessert, and instead just brought us the check. In short, I would suggest another restaurant, if you want a pleasant and entertaining experience for your large group.

Ugh. Poor quality. Uncomfortable chairs. Bland. Chef looked like he hated doing his job. And in lieu of the free mixed drink coupon I asked for a beer. They refused to substitute. How do you not accommodate customers? Fried rice was awful. I’d rather spend a little more and head to a place that’s tried and true.

The food is excellent. Probably some of my favorite sushi of all time. The squid salad is phenomenal and is one of our family favorites. The atmosphere is lovely. The service has been really slow a few times. This would not be somewhere I’d go if I were in a hurry.

Must get a Wylie Roll. Staff is very nice and food is amazing. Well worth the prices. One of our favorites! We have never had anything here we didn’t like.

We enjoyed our visit to Tokyo Hayaci in Murphy. We started with a Wylie Roll, and it was delicious, a «keeper.» We both followed up with Steak and Shrimp Combos, also delicious. Both the steak and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. The Chef was very personable, and the«show» was entertaining. To address other issues I read about on Unilocal: The portions were large, the restroom was fine, and the service was very good. This restaurant is a little out of our way, and a little pricey for us, but it is a «repeater.» We will be back.

I come here on a regular basis, and I must say, for the price, Tokyo Hayaci has pretty good meals. I’m a huge fan of their rolls — namely the Wylie Roll, Murphy Roll, and the little known Koby Roll(it’s part of their«secret» special rolls). Swung by tonight and tried the Golden State Roll from the specials board and it’s a must try for eel lovers! Here’s a breakdown on what other foods to try from their menu based on my experience: –Appetizers: Gyoza(the pan fried pork dumplings), Rock Shrimp Tempura(popcorn shrimp style, but way better), and Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura –Noodles: any of the Yaki Udons –Entrees: Chicken Katsu, Spicy Miso Sea Bass, and Steamed Chilean Sea Bass –Hibachi: They’re all great-I usually go for anything with Filet Mignon. And oh my goodness… the fried rice is the best I’ve had from any restaurant! Whether you sit in the dining or habachi section, it’s all the same price, so you might as well enjoy the habachi side for the show(great for large families or parties). –Drinks: Strawberry Daquiri, Mai Tai, Malibu Punch, Woo Woo, Cosmopolitan, and Infusion Martini… at least those are the ones I’ve tried so far. Their wait staff is wonderful and friendly, good atmosphere(although their choice of music is not to my taste), and overall a good place to dine at for those in the area. Hopefully this is a helpful review for those planning a visit here(:

I visit this restaurant multiple times a week and I have never encountered what Harry posted. Probably because most people have the decency to not post pictures of what they find in the restroom. I feel that Harry simply entered the restroom between cleanings and found what another customer had left behind. So funny Now onto the food. My favorite rolls are the Wylie, Murphy, and King Kong. Tokyo Hayaci knows how to use their tempura well. I wish they had special rolls on the lunch menu, but nonetheless they are worth the price! This has been one of my favorite places to eat since they opened and I’m sure it will stay that way for a while.

So stopped in early Friday and was waiting for my wife. Went to the bathroom to be greeted by a stench of a potapotty … See the pics of what was in the bathroom. . About two employees laughed… I walked out… never again

This used to be my favorite place to eat in Murphy until I realized the portions were getting smaller. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying for a pricey meal but I’d hope I’m getting my money’s worth. Customer service has always been great but I will say that sometimes I have to flag someone down to get their attention. I’m not too sure if it’s because I’m a regular so they just know to give me my space and let me eat or if it’s because they’re not very attentive. But I’m seeing through other reviews that I’m not the only one with this issue. The food is delicious. I don’t really think I can complain about that because I love everything about it. The chefs are always so much fun and even though I am a regular here, they never fail to put on a fun show for me and my family. I guess my only complaint is the price and the flagging down for service but if you’re looking for yummy hibachi around the Murphy/Plano area, this place is definitely worth the try.

I have to downgrade this review after a recent visit. We took friends from out of town for dinner and sat in a booth with five of us. The wives ordered chicken teriyaki and the guys had a bunch of different rolls. Our service was not as good as usual and we had a couple of items never show up on our order. The miso soup was like dishwater and not eatable. The teriyaki dinners looked white and creepy. There was very little flavor. Same with the rolls. Every one looked and tasted like the other. Very bland and boring. We have had some good experiences here over the last year but this dinner gives us second thoughts about coming back very soon. We will look at the Unilocal reviews and see if something is going on here with a change of management or chef. Not sure why the recent problems?

There was nothing wrong about this place. The décor was really nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. I’ve been to several other hibachi style places which were better, namely Kobe Steak in Addison and Geisha house in Plano. Our chef was hands down the most entertaining I’ve ever seen at a hibachi style restaurant, but then again, the next chef over was pretty terrible(of what I could see). I really wanted to like this place due to it’s location and nice presentation and layout, but it just doesn’t stand up to the more popular name companies when it comes to food tastiness. If you’re looking for something close and decent, this place would be ok. If you’re looking for something that pops and has great taste, go to one of the aforementioned restaurants.

I have visited this restaurant many times. But I was utterly disappointed this time. The quality of the food had drastically declined since the last time we had gone there. Imitation crab in the tuna tower and horrible tasting fish in the rolls… it is sad, but I don’t think I can go back.:’(

This is our favorite local sushi restaurant. It gets the 5th star for being close to home. We are here once or twice a month and we have never been disappointed. The hibachi grill is consistently good, but we prefer the sushi. After trying just about everything on the menu, we have decided our favorite roll is the Murphy roll. Great prices, location and people.

This place doesn’t quite measure up to Kobe Steaks, but it comes close. The steak is of high quality and was cooked perfectly as was the shrimp. They put on a great show, and while they don’t quite match Kobe Steaks of Addison, the are a welcomed addition to Murphy.

My wife and I stopped for lunch today and we were very disappointed with the food. We both ordered the teriyaki chicken Bento box and everything from the salad, California roll and Gyoza was very bland. The only thing that was cooked properly were the steamed vegetables. I provided feedback to the server so he could relay to management. I don’t think I will be returning to eat here anytime soon. The service on the other hand was GREAT!

I’m in the area around lunch and I’m looking for a place to eat. All the chain fast food places aren’t sounding good and I happen to go by Tokyo Hayaci. «Perfect,» I think to myself, «It’s sushi time.» So in I go. It’s dimly lit inside but it’s alright, your eyes will get used to it. I sit down at the bar and get served a menu and ask for my drink order. I look over the menu and I settle on «Two rolls for $ 9.» I thought that was pretty good. The waitress comes back and I order the salmon roll and the spicy salmon roll. A couple minutes later, the waitress come back with a salad. The salad was a little hard to eat. The lettuce pieces were cut rather large and the dressing was poured onto the piece on top. It wasn’t easy with chopsticks, but I managed to spread enough of the dressing around and take bites of the lettuce. Not a great start. Then came the sushi rolls. The salmon roll was just your standard roll as you would expect. A solid average roll. The spicy salmon was anything but. They add the crunchy fried pieces to the roll. I was thinking to myself, «They must have gotten a crunchy salmon roll instead. Oh well, I’ll eat it because I don’t want to make a fuss and I have somewhere to be.» Secondly, it’s not spicy at all. Not even a little bit. I was thinking, «I may as well have gotten two salmon rolls instead, then I won’t have part of my roll with this crunchy stuff. It kinda feels and tastes like sand. Thirdly, their wasabi was not fresh. It wasn’t very spicy. I had to put a really large dab of it on the roll to get any kick. Pretty disappointing. So when the waitress came back and asked if everything was good. I said, «I think I got a crunchy salmon roll instead of a spicy salmon roll. It’s okay, I just thought you might want to know.» Waitress: «Oh no, sir. That is the spicy salmon roll. It comes with the crunchy part.» Me: «Really. Because it wasn’t spicy at all.» Waitress: «Did you want it really spicy? Me: «It wasn’t spicy one bit.» Waitress: «We make ours so everyone can enjoy it.» Well, by that point, I knew it was a losing battle. I’m not a person that has to be crying to feel the spice, it was like I asked for someone to punch me and they gave me baby bunnies. Service was fine and I did notice the hibachi grill going on over to the left. That kinda interested me as an alternative to the chain hibachi grill places. Zero Bruce stars for this restaurant: Will not come back unless under duress. Just not really worth it.

I’ve been here a handful of times, so here’s my cumulative macro review: Pros: — Decent sushi, at least by Murphy, TX-standards — Ambiance is up to par. Nothing out of the ordinary, but also far from unbearable — Hibachi grill for those whom are inclined(along with chef who does various tricks) Cons: — Hibachi salmon is delicious at the time of consumption, but may give you a hard time later. Not much can be said about this place, other than it is quintessentially ordinary. And if you typically aim for the middle, this is a sure shot.

The Hibachi chicken and shrimp were decent. Not as good as Kobe Steakhouse in Addison but better than Benihana. The problem was it took over an hour for our chef to start cooking. And he didn’t put on much of a show compared to all the other chefs that we got to watch since we sat there so long. Atmosphere isn’t anything special. Prices were the same as most hibachi places. So overall just thought it was an average experience.

Was here for a friend’s birthday celebration. Nice setup and once we were all there, they arrived with the chef and started serving. Not as entertaining as I’ve seen at other places like this, but it was a good time. Food was good. Steak was a bit over cooked(asked for medium). Enjoyed the time because of who I was there with. Parking can get tight if busy or other businesses are around it.
