Mediterranean Grocery

This is my most favorite store to visit in Murfreesboro — a true gem tucked away in the corner of a quiet shopping center on S. Church (also called Mediterranean Grocery). I shop here at least a couple times a month and have introduced family and friends to it, who have also become regulars. First, their staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to answer any questions about their food and preparation of it. There is no place to buy spices at a better price. For example, a huge 8 oz. container of ground turmeric cost $ 3.49 compared to a 2 oz. container in a chain grocery store that sells for $ 5.00 or more. I buy all my spices here now in addition to 20 lb bags of basmati rice, olive oil and kefir cheese. They also have the best Lebanese cucumbers — small, sweet and crisp. Their pita bread is baked fresh daily in a Nashville bakery and comes in a couple different sizes and thickness — all delicious, but get there early as it sells out quickly. I’m never there on the days they have fresh meat (I know it’s during the week and I’m always there on the weekend), but I hope to try it at some point. I’ll be a customer as long as this store stands!
