At various times I had previously dabbled in martial arts. I never progressed far because schools I’d been to had pretty lax standards, and it’s hard to care about your progression when you haven’t worked for it. Things were different at BSK, as you ~will~ work hard in class. I have always always felt like the instructors at BSK genuinely cared about the well being of students, both as a martial artist and as a member of the community. This is a great environment for kids as they are encouraged to make efforts at improving themselves in school and at home as part of advancing to the next belt. I trust the instructors enough to have enrolled my son as well as myself. Tuition seems pretty average for a MA school in the area. Since there are no fees for testing tuition probably falls in the low to middle range. I haven’t priced schools in a few years so can’t say for sure. The one time Black Belt Club fee pays for monthly special classes which I have always found beneficial. These have varied from guest instructors, tournament practice, to kettle bell workouts. The background of instructors varies, so not every class is the same. Some will challenge you more from a fitness perspective, others from a technical aspect, while others might have a focus on practical applications. This is not to say that one class or the other is superior/falls short, but rather there is something to engage varied interests. Facilities are clean and organized. Plenty of viewing seating for parents/guests. There is a nice sized weight room equipped with a heavy bag. The exercise equipment is dated, but functional. The main facilities complaint would be that sometimes parking can be challenging. In summary, Bushido School of Karate is a great place to get a well-rounded martial arts education.
