Was not expected expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the BBQ, the portions, and the service! Would recommend it to anyone on a roadtrip!

Holy shit. Stopped in on a road trip. Ribs were falling off the bone. The most tender ribs I’ve ever seen. And I was coming from Austin. I asked my waitress how long they cooked them for, and you better believe these dudes are cooked a full 12 hours. Stop in here, you won’t be disappointed. Getting back on the interstate was confusing as hell though with all of the construction!

Amazing! My wife and I split both a loaded baked potato and the sampler platter. Out of this world good! The ribs were awesome. I don’t know what they seasoned with, but I loved it. And the loaded potato! Covered with butter, cheese, and barbecue! Easily the best thing! I wish I lived closer. Make sure you stop here!

Ugh! We stopped because of 4 stars and wish we had not. Who would give them such a high rating — themselves? Family? LEEB& I ordered the sliced shoulder platter. We got thin greasy over cooked meat that looked like cheap cuts of pork chops — like you see in the discount freezer section. One bite of my baked beans said«canned». LEEB said his unseasoned, lukewarm pinto beans were out of a can too. My onion rings were the only good thing, and I ended up eating most of them, because everything else was inedible. I left with 90% of my food on my plate. LEEB said his fries skillet potatoes were pretty good, so they’ve got the frying thing down. The BOYS had a burger and fries. The burger was served on buttered Texas toast and they said it was«Okay, how can you mess up a burger?» CHRISB said his french fries were just like his roommate makes — out of the freezer. BENB was too sleepy to comment. Instead of the staff standing around and talking to each other or watching videos on their phones, they could try cleaning. The place may be shabby and needs a new cost of paint and ceiling tiles, but there’s no excuse for dirty walls and blinds. The wall & blinds beside LEEB had barbecue sauce on them. The cashier stand could use a good scrubbing. The service wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t stellar. Our waitress told us to let her know when we needed more drinks, but she never checked on us until she was picking up the boys plates. It was obvious I was not eating my food, but she did not comment. The okay service, the bad food, lack of attention to cleaning and heavy religious content on the walls(which normally doesn’t bother me(Cleanliness IS next to Godliness), I could not wait to get out of there.

After the end of our tour of Cub Run Cave, we asked Linda, our awesome guide, to suggest a good barbeque restaurant for dinner. She recommended either of the two Mamma Lou’s Bar-B-Que locations. We opted for the one in Munfordville, as Linda indicated it had a larger dining room. We arrived just as the supper rush was winding down, and on entering the restaurant, a friendly waitress greeted and sat us at a large table at the front of the restaurant. After taking our drink orders, she gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. When the waitress returned with our beverages, my wife and children ordered various barbeque entrées, while I picked the slaw-b-que. I asked which sides would go nicely with my selection, and the waitress replied that she would be glad to make a few suggestions, but cautioned me that the slaw-b-que was large enough that many people do not finish it. Appreciating her candor, I decided to stick to the main dish! The restaurant was decorated in the typical inoffensive style common to most mom and pop eateries, with the pleasant exception that it was uncommonly clean, with nearly spotless restrooms and dining areas! While waiting on our orders, the kids enjoyed the well-placed television, while my wife and I liked studying the customer map. When our food arrived, we were nearly the last customers left in the restaurant, but it still felt like our orders got there very quickly. We were all blown away by the portion sizes, and I now understood why the waitress had cautioned me about getting a side, as the slaw-b-que could have easily been dinner for two people! Even better, all five of us commented that our food tasted great, with delicious, authentic barbeque flavours all around! All told, with tax and tip included, our bill was just under $ 60. Coupled with the fact that the generous portion sizes meant we had enough leftovers to have lunch the next day, we felt the restaurant provided exceptional value for our dollar. Likewise we felt that we received stellar customer service, as the waitress did an excellent job of keeping our drinks topped off. For great tasting food provided at a fantastic price with outstanding customer service, I rate Mama Lou’s Bar-B-Que as Excellent, and absolutely would go back again!

Slaw-b-que was really good! A Corn cake, topped with pulled pork, choose of beans & cole slaw-all made in house. Service was great! Never underestimate the small town«mom n pops», they’re usually the best!

Don’t let looks deceive you. We saw this and we are so glad we stopped. I can be a bit of a snob And was weary from the outside. So glad we went in. The service was amazing. Food was very good and very large portions for a low price. The kids meal was a thumbs up from our 6 year old. The corn bread was like a pancake but really good. I got the pulled pork platter and brought ½of it home. Too much to eat. The BBQ sauce was so good my 11year old basically drank the bottle. We will definitely come again when we are driving through or in the area

Food was good. Service was good. Atmosphere and presentation could have been better. Fried green tomatoes were bland

We stopped here on our drive home from Mammoth Cave, but I wish we had just kept driving and waited to have lunch in Louisville. I was hopeful(and really hungry), but the food(BBQ) was mediocre at best and mostly inedible. This is a typical diner type place — mostly canned, pre-made type fare. Skip the BBQ, my belly hurts thinking about it. Our friend said his burger was good, but nothing to write home about. Friendly service. Good skillet cornbread(award-winning, according to our waitress).

Not many options to choose from at this exit. Glad I stopped here the people could not have been any nicer, the food is ok nothing compared to the great BBQ joints across the south, but way better than Famous Daves. I had the sampler ribs, pulled pork and brisket where juicy and flavorful but the shoulder was dried out, my daughter had the baby burger not that great. Over all I may just keep driving next time unless I’m starving.

I was traveling from Lexington going to Nashville. I discovered this place on Unilocal. It is definitely worth the stop. Fried green tomatoes are excellent. The burger on a pretzel bun is delicious. Great sweet tea and I got a chess pie to go. I took a little taste and it is amazing. Great prices and down-home friendly service. I highly recommend.

We were on a roadtrip from Chicago to NOLA and back thru KY. After a visit to mammoth cave, we were looking for a lunch spot… We purposely try to avoid the big chains, and luckily we came across this place. We had the loaded Kentucky potato, with grated cheddar and piled high with BBQ pork and your choice of mild or hot BBQ sauce. Yum! They also have a simple kids menu and burgers. Support the small restaurants that keep our country unique!
