I think artisan grilled cheese is a bit of a stretch, but this quaint little restaurant does have some decent grilled cheese. I ordered the mamaw, cheese, bacon, tomato, on Texas toast. I should have got some soup to go with it bc the sandwich didn’t really fill me up. A little pricey, but in Muncie it’s a way better option for lunch than most places. I’d eat here over mc’ds across the street every time.

Delicious food and great service! The Big Cheese is amazing. And the tomato soup is so creamy and good! The staff are very personable and friendly. They went out of their way to explain everything on the menu and came to our table several times to make sure we were enjoying our food. We will definitely dine here again.

Fantastic service and awesome tomato soup and sandwiches! The service was quick and friendly. The place has a duvet feel but it is very clean. Plenty of parking too. We will definitely be coming back with the kids. They would love it too!

Five stars for this little gem! I stopped in here while driving from Indianapolis to Toronto and although it was a little bit out of my way, it was well worth the detour. First of all, the people who work there are great — they gave me a menu to hold onto so I would know what I wanted the next time I came in(and trust me, there will be a next time!). This is because it took me about ten minutes to decide what I wanted, because everything just looked so good. Finally I decided on the duke grilled cheese, with meatloaf, bacon, cheddar, and chipotle mayo. It was smooth and buttery and creamy and savoury and the chipotle mayo gave it just the right amount of kick. I gobbled up the entire sandwich. Grilled cheese at its finest! I will definitely be back.

the only downside to this place is the fact that they came into existence after i had graduated from ball state & moved away. my friends & i found out about this place right after they opened & decided to make a small road trip from indy to taste the gloriousness of all things grilled cheese. we were thrilled to see so many varieties of grilled cheese on the menu that we all ordered different ones so that we could sample each others. the owner was thrilled with our excitement & gave us a strawberry cheesecake dessert for free(which was also AMAZING). my boyfriend & i often make a point of going through muncie when we head up to see our families in northern indiana, just so we can get some grilled cheese. my go-to choice is the goat cheese, which includes spinach & strawberry jam. don’t forget to add on a cup of their delicious tomato soup!

We had the State Fair with chicken and the Italian with salami and pepperoni. Both were delicious! And the sample of the tomato soup was delicious! I will be back; it’s one of the best Muncie area places that’s not a chain that I’ve been to in a while!

OMG! This place is fantastic! We tried four different sandwiches and two different soups and every single item was on point. I wish there was a location in California where I live, but bet I we be here every time I visit Muncie.

I had to find out about the«strawberry shortcake.» It was worth it. Cleverly maintaining the grilled cheese theme – it is two grilled pieces of poundcake with strawberry cream CHEESE between them and covered in strawberries and whipped cream. I could do with a little less whipped cream, but this concoction was pretty amazing overall. The way the poundcake was slightly cartelized and crispy was on point. The grilled cheese sandwiches – at least the ones I’ve had– are, grilled cheese sandwiches. They are good, and exactly what you’d expect. The gumbo is pretty good, though, it tastes more like homemade than what you’d get in a restaurant, lots of tomato and green pepper flavor… I like it.

My wife’s up in Muncie for the month for a rotation at IU’s hospital. I went up to visit for a few days and was craving something greasy and unhealthy. The Wedge met my expectations and was delicious. It’s a very small restaurant with only a few tables. It looks like a slightly more upscale version of a food vendor you’d find at a state fair. When you go seeking out a restaurant that specializes in grilled cheeses though, I’m not sure what more you could ask for. The employees were both very friendly and efficient. We had our order in under ten minutes and were promptly out the door. I had Mamaw’s Favorite(Bacon, Cheddar and Tomato on Texas Toast) and a bowl of their Tomato Soup. The sandwich was good. I wouldn’t call it artisan(which is how they bill themselves). To me artisan(which is overused these days) requires food to be homemade or locally sourced. The bacon was most likely oscar mayer microwave ready, and the bread was definitely store bought in bulk. It was still good, it just wasn’t anything that I couldn’t make myself. The soup was actually really good though. Without the soup this experience would have been a three. We ended up supplementing our meal with a soda and fries from McDonald’s across the street and eating in our car. That speaks a little bit to the atmosphere of the restaurant. If I lived in Muncie I’d definitely come back for more takeout if I was craving something delicious and greasy.

I discovered The Wedge the good ol’ fashioned way… by seeing it on the side of the road. I was commuting into Muncie on 32, and The Wedge and its neon-colored sign immediately jumped out at me. Tonight my husband and I tried it out. I ordered the Three Cheese, although there were a few others that stood out to me, too. The sandwich was nicely constructed, a respectable amount of cheese without being gross or overbearing. It was well-toasted and melty, clearly freshly made. I had a dunk of my husband’s tomato soup, which was pretty good(and sweet?) despite the fact that I’m usually not a fan. I really wish they offered French fries as a side dish. In fact, we got our sandwiches to go just so I could go across the street to McDonald’s to get some fries(hey, I had a craving). I saw some of the in-house baskets served with pickles, although we didn’t get any. Because our order got delayed by a few minutes, one of the employees threw in a free scotcharoo. Pretty tasty and great customer service! The interior is pretty bare bones, but that’s fine with me. It has five tables with four chairs each. Drinks are bottled water and soda cans. There were a few dessert sandwiches(strawberry shortcake, ice cream/cookie, etc.). They’re set up to pay via iPad… I love a good tech savvy business. Perhaps my only real gripe is that I’m not buying that these are«artisan» grilled cheeses. It’s a grilled cheese joint(which is a cool niche in and of itself) that uses a few interesting ingredients, but if you want to call yourself artisan, that territory includes making your own bread, locally made cheese, etc. I would happily return to The Wedge. I’m not sure that Muncie is a foodie capital or anything, but I think The Wedge is worthy of 4 stars considering the taste/quality of the food, the prices(a little higher than true fast food), and the customer service.

This place blew my grilled cheese expectations out of the water. I was trying to get off campus(on a Sunday of course) with a friend of mine so we drove to Yorktown. We passed The Wedge on our way and on the way back we decided to stop to see what they had. The restaurant itself doesn’t look like much but it really is great! Just as it happened we came in on National Grilled Cheese Day so that was cool. The menu options were incredible! So many different choices, I honestly didn’t know you could do so much with a grilled cheese. We both weren’t too hungry so we decided to split the Midnight Snack. The man who took our order was very sweet and helpful! If you’re ever in the area check this place out it’s totally worth your while!

We were visiting Muncie from Southern California and found this little gem of a restaurant on Unilocal. The staff is friendly and best of all, the food is amazing!!! I had the lunch pail and my wife had the mawmaw, both with tomato soup. The bread has the perfect blend of softness with a good crunch on the toasty outside, and the cheese was melted to perfection. The tomato soup was some of the best I have ever had. Creamy with bits of tomato. We finished off the meal with the strawberry shortcake thing. Was very refreshing with fresh strawberries, cream cheese, grilled pound cake and whipped cream. At least I think that’s what was in it. Regardless, it was crazy good!

Eat local! The Wedge is a nice little grilled cheese joint. Cozy seating. Engaging staff. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken… BC with cheddar, mozzarella on Texas Toast… tomato soup and a Guinness brownie(special for the week of St. Patrick’s Day). The sandwich was tasty and filling. I’m not a big soup fan, but was pleasantly surprised. The brownie was small but tasty. For a local small establishment it was all pretty good.

My mom and I swung by here after work one evening. Growing up in Yorktown, we’ve seen various places come and go in this location. I am really hoping The Wedge will stick around. Definitely worth going to and is an appreciated addition to the community! You can tell the owners really care about what they’re doing. And I’ve got to say, they do it amazingly well. I got the Papaw’s Favorite: cheddar, smoked gouda, and turkey. My mom got the Goat Cheese: goat cheese, spinach, and strawberry jam. We both really liked ours — so much we didn’t save a bite to share! We also both got the tomato soup, which like everyone has said, is amazing. I’m not a big fan of tomato chunks in my soup, but the flavor was right on. Can’t wait to go back and try a few more of their sandwiches and especially the desserts! Do I wish this was closer to campus? Well, yeah. But honestly, it is 100% worth going to regardless. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Had to check out on cold December day. Mamaw’s(grilled bacon tomato) with creamy tomato soup. Friendly staff and food was out quickly. Indoor seating is limited but they plan to have outdoor in the spring also. Good portion size on the soup and the sandwich perfect for lunchtime. At least dozen choices of sandwiches and there is a soup of the day also(besides tomato). Right off Nebo and SR32 so a little out of the way from BSU area but worth drive.

This grilled cheese restaurant has awesome food! The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because it was very cold inside. There was a large draft coming in, but other than that, I loved it! I got Mamaw’s favorite with the tomato soup, which was excellent. The tomato soup is an everyday option, which is homemade, creamy and delicious. Then they have a soup of the day, which was loaded baked potato, very good! Will definitely be going back to try other sandwiches, they even have dessert sandwiches. I would love to see this little place around for awhile! Go, you won’t be disappointed!
