The pizza. Wow. Can’t believe I’ve been eating here off and on since the summer and have just got around to trying it. Overtime at work led to a carry out order of the«Merk’s Meat Lovers» for dinner. My sampling leads me say it’s easily the best pie in town. Excellent crust.

Diner-style food(so if you’re looking for something fancy, this isn’t the place) that is delicious, served in plentiful portions and prepared with love. Tim and Beth(owners) are gifted with hospitality and they make everyone feel like family! The Friday fish fry is out of this world(tempura battered cod, with french fries, coleslaw and grilled cornbread). Their chicken parmesan is awesome, too! For the person who criticized the décor… seriously? You’re not eating in Carmel. Merk’s is adorable! It’s fun and colorful and not at all stuffy. The décor matches Beth’s personality: bubbly, friendly and bright. It is a wonderful place to go to make people feel welcomed and«at home» and get some hearty, satisfying comfort food, to boot.

This was the second time I’ve eaten here, the first time wasn’t that great, but it was when they first opened, so I thought they were working out the kinks. Well, I was wrong. The food is just bland, four out of the eight of us didn’t think our food was very good and it’s overpriced. There was a girl that was training that sat us, not sure if it was her first day, but she didn’t even know if they served Coke or Pepsi. Most of our table didn’t even get refills. Also, the waitresses were standing at the bar eating, it just seems unprofessional. Then there’s the décor. Tacky! The neon colors and odd butterfly ornaments hanging from the ceiling make it look like a 12 year old girl’s bedroom. I thought maybe it would be better this time, but I’m just not impressed at all and don’t understand why people think it’s that great, but there were a lot of older people, so maybe they can’t really taste it much anyway.

I’ve been here twice(against my recommendations) and didn’t like it either time. The management is probably the worst part, extremely unprofessional. I mean we saw waitresses on their phones, eating food from the kitchen and walking around and the one we had messed up my order. Doesn’t seem like the managers know how to properly run a restaurant, they definitely need to do something about that. Plus the food is cheap, low quality and not worth a trip out there. I won’t be going back!

Now locate at the Delaware County Airport, at 311 W. Carl Simmons Drive, Muncie, IN47303. Some good food, all day, in a «romantic» location. We enjoyed a great relaxing meal, while watching the small aircraft ascend, & land.

Food here was pretty good. Yes it is not Vince’s by then again it did not charge the prices that Vince’s did. I found the food to be very good and the service above average. I had french fries and a tenderloin and some coleslaw. The sandwich was great, no gristle. The fries were really good they were crisp, hot. The coleslaw was very good. The service was excellent also. I will return here again definitely.

We waited 30 min. for a table only to be told –if they seated us, we needed to eat fast as a party of 52 was due in. We chose to go elsewhere but I called to talk to mgr who when telling her how rude the hostess was to us and not informing us sooner the mgr.‘s reply was ‘now you listen to me’ upon which I just hung up. If the managements attitude is this poor I can only imagine the quality of the service and food is the same. Will never go there again!!!

Years ago, there was a fantastic restaurant here. Good enough to be a flying destination, on the basis of the food and environment alone. Since that time, restaurants have come and gone in this same location that is perfect for the flying community … and I’m assuming the driving clientele, too. I flew in for breakfast this morning. The food is solid. The restaurant makes a great excuse to stop here over other airports in the area. It’s no replacement for Vince’s of years gone by … but the food is good(not great), prices are reasonable, and the location is perfect for pilots. My Greek omelet was just what I expected. Can’t comment on lunch or dinner menu. The service met all my needs. There was no illusion of the niceties of a fine restaurant. That’s not what this is. It’s a Midwestern, no-nonsense, no frills establishment. And that might bode well for its future. While I was here, there were 5 other patrons who seemed to be regulars were in and out. And the phone rang once or twice with people arranging larger parties. I’ll be back.

Flew in around 7:00pm on 09/04/2014. Easy airport to fly in to and the entrance to the restaurant is right off the ramp. Food was good and well-priced. Waitresses were extremely friendly and easy to talk to.

Merk’s at the airport in Muncie … what can I say … my office overlooks this establishment and the parking lot is packed from 8 a.m. til 5 p.m. when I head home. So, when I first visited I was surprised at the eclectic menu. I can’t say they master each item they offer, but I will say they do a bang up job. I’ve visited a half dozen times in the past couple months(my job often involves business meetings for lunch) … the Michigan Salad they put together is fantastic! I get it often and it’s become my go-to item to order for lunch. I switch out the blue cheese crumbles for the feta, and order it sometimes with honey mustard dressing vs. the raspberry vinegrette. Just a personal preference. Breakfast has been GREAT each time I’ve visited. I always migrate to the omelettes … they are perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients and I LOVE the fact they offer various cheeses, vs. the traditionally served Americana only. Pork tenderloin is always a deal breaker … any time I think I’m going to find the«perfect» tenderloin, I’m somewhat disappointed. The tenderloin at Merk’s is a very generous portion, more times than not, it’s a tad undercooked on the outside(ie: not very golden brown like you want to see in this sandwich). The flavor is fairly bland as well, no real seasoning other than salt in the breading, which could stand to be lessened a bit. Their burgers, according to my son, who at 25 revels in his opportunity to find the perfect burger … loves the mushroom burger! I have to admit, if I consumed beef, I’d be tempted by this burger myself, it looked and smelled AMAZING! Their side of fries is just … meh. They aren’t bad or good, just … ya know … meh. You can at least note they use fresh oil to fry in which most places neglect. They have a swarm of servers for all shifts, my suggestion would be taking just a bit more time to have them educate on the menu a bit, and on server etiquette, though all the servers I’ve had, they are ALL very nice, polite, and attentive, but could polish up a little on the over explaining of things. I pretty much believe it’s a matter of their age and wanting to do a good job, but they do tend to spend a lot of time in table interruptions and explaining that«the meal will be out in a few minutes because something happened in the kitchen and their order got out of sync and therefore, it will be right out in just a minute, ok? « :whew: I have yet to notice a delay in food arriving at my table in all the times I’ve been there, but each time, there has always been an explanation of when the food will arrive. lol I will say … in regard to alcohol … their Bloody Mary’s are FABULOUS! Merk’s isn’t by any means, the best restaurant in town, and the décor with the gaudy, bright, brilliant pink, teal, purple, and lime green along with the classier deep browns of the booths and chairs, and the carpet … make me feel sorta like Donald Trump and Jimmy Buffet had a child who became a decorator and created that interior. :) I will continue to visit Merk’s … they work hard, owner always is coming from the kitchen and making rounds to randomly see how things are going with customers and staff alike. Everyone has been friendlym, and the food is worth the visit for a simple casual lunch, breakfast, or dinner that has a better view than the McGalliard chains. No to mention, regardless of the quirks, Merk’s is a FAR superior estabilishment than Kacy J’s ever was, in the same locale.

We have traveled all over the country and we had to find«the worst restaurant ever» in our own back yard. We had 4 people in our party for lunch and we all ordered something different. No one had a good experience with their lunch. The waitress was totally clueless. When one person in our party asked for additional hot water for more tea, the waitress brought her cup back with about 1 inch of hot water. At this point we were so aggravated, we just paid our bill and left, vowing to never go back and to make sure everyone we know doesn’t waste their money at this place. I don’t believe this place will be around very long. As for Nancy M.‘s comments, we couldn’t have possibly eaten at the same place.

Merk’s Family Restaurant is amazing and is the best thing that has happened to the Muncie Airport in a very long time! I read the other reviews to avoid being repetitive and found Erica A. and Kevin M ‘s comments to be very inaccurate in my view. First of all, Erica, we have never felt cramped while dining, and have particularly enjoyed the invitingly cheery atmosphere as well as the delicious food at Merk’s. Just a side note: Feta cheese does not melt! It sounds as though the owners were trying to explain that to you. The Greek omelet(with feta) is one of my very favorites. I have ordered it many times and found it to be delicious! I have tried other omelets, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, etc. to mention a few of the breakfast items on the menu and have never had better! We choose to dine at Merk’s at least four times per week for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Never have we had a bad meal or a problem with service or take out. Kevin m., the owners are VERY attentive to customer satisfaction and it is my guess that the person who answered the phone the day you had your concern was NOT the owner, but a brand new hostess. I understand that the owners are hiring and training new employees daily as the business is expanding very quickly. We will continue to dine and order out often from Merk’s… It has become our new favorite restaurant in Muncie!

I understand the issue… I was told by the owner/manager lady when I called the owner was too busy to talk to me… you know we are busy with dinner… even though I was calling because I just picked up $ 20 worth of take out and had a problem with the order!!! I understand the issue. Last time for me to inconvenience you. And Nancy, it wasn’t a new hostess I spoke to. It was the main lady at the place. She even said so.

It is fine for what it is. I had never been to the place when it was just an ice cream shop. Now it is much more like a restaurant although a «family style» one. The most expensive entrée was a steak dinner at 10.99. I got the tenderloin with slaw and French fries. There was plenty to bring home. My wife got the small poration of fish and chips. Again plenty to bring home. Two freshly brewed iced teas and a piece of fresh peach pie rounded out the dinner. Total bill for two was about 22 dollars. They have a large party room off to one side. Next year there will be out door dining. It looks like the bar is open on one side. Located at the site of the former Kacy J’s restaurant. Drive up or fly up.
