When my sister and I first moved to Muncie from Philadelphia, heaven of brunch addicts, we decided to give this place a try, several times. Unfortunately, each time we were disappointed. Long story short, the food is incredibly mediocre and overpriced for the quality. Anyone who has had a good brunch in a major city will quickly realize that this restaurant does not live up to the hype. The only standout from any of our meals are from the fries with their homemade sauce(avoid their ketchup, which is gross). We came several times in the fall, but have not returned since October, and we have no plans to do so.

My first time in Muncie I decided to check out the local cuisine. I went here for lunch and ordered the curry sweet potato soup to start. It was a very small portion and could have benefitted from a touch of sour cream or at least some croutons for texture. It also completely lacked salt. But it was peppery and flavorful once I salted it. I ordered the Croque Madame for my entrée. It was quite tasty. The ham was a little tough, but it’s ham. Otherwise it was nice. I ordered bacon-maple glazed Brussels sprouts for my side. They were barely cooked so I sent them back for more cooking. Brussels sprouts are dense and tough so need more cooking than many veggies. The second time around they were properly tender and the flavor was very good. The waiter was friendly. Overall, three plus stars.

Absolutely love this place! Great brunch and dinner specials. Prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for, and that’s high quality, original dishes!

We loved it so much. Visiting out daughter at Ball State. She suggested it and we became instant fans. How many memorable burgers have you had in your life?

Okay. I know I have comment on the Barn Brasserie before but I must say this is one thing of the top local restaurants in Muncie. If you live in Muncie, this is a must for dining. You are not only going to get awesome food but you will be support our local small business community.

I love oatmeal for breakfast – especially when it’s oatmeal STOUT! Stopped in after church and was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed an excellent brunch with(my stout) and bottomless mimosas. The brunch burger, with egg, was great. The building is in an old building in a renovated part of downtown Muncie. It looks like they have outdoor seating too.

Saturday night 7:30 reservation for four. Three of us got the house burger with fries and the«Hippie Ranch»(with dill). The burgers were excellent and cooked to perfection. The fries were also really good, nice and crispy, and the Hippie Ranch was a perfect flavor complement. We also had an order of chicken risotto which was also very good. It was a birthday dinner and our server told us that we could get an order of beignets. The beignets were overly yeasty and flavorless were it not for the syrup they came with. Would not order again. I would give five stars if it weren’t for our server. She did let us know that she was new. We were without water for the majority of the meal and empty dishes were left on the table for way too long. She also offered the beignets as a complimentary birthday dessert and they were charged on the bill. Our dinner dishes were still on the table when she brought the beignets(with no dessert plates or napkins or silverware). Overall, her service was slow and needed improvement. Food was excellent.

This place is so cute and nice. I’ve never been prior to yesterday and am excited to go back already. My bf was in town visiting from Atlanta and he is a foodie. I found this place on Unilocal and hoped he would like it. He didn’t like it, he LOVED it. Don’t let the prices deter you from coming. It’s well worth the money ! :-)

Went for a late Sunday Brunch. Everything was yummy. Service was good. We ordered the French donuts to end our meal. Will return for dinner some night. Craft beer selection was great!

Yum! Found Barn Brasserie on Unilocal(they don’t have a webpage beyond Facebook). I’ve been here twice(both on weeknights) and eaten in the bar each time. The main area of the restaurant looked somewhat empty, whereas the bar side(still mostly dining, not drinking) was full. The service was quite average both times – a little slow on water refills, a little awkward, but otherwise friendly. This food is definitely stand out, not just for Muncie but probably for anywhere. I had the Chef’s fries both times which were absolutely delicious – sticky, sweet, and an absolutely huge portion even though it was a side dish. They were a little soggy the second time around, but I’ll forgive that. They are definitely a must order! My first meal was a giant fried chicken leg, a real step out of my comfort zone because I’m usually not such a fan of dark meat. It was well cooked, the breading was crispy and yummy, and it was served with some nice asparagus and cajun fries(great when dipped in honey!). My second meal was a steak. It was cooked properly, though it wasn’t the best steak of my life. It had an inventive topping that mixed gorgonzola cheese, scallions, and butter, although I might recommend crumbling it on vs. laying on a giant slab. I’ve also tried the mac and cheese, both as an entrée(which comes with goat cheese and bacon jam) and a side(just the basics). It’s very cheesy with fun cavatappi noodles. I’m not sure I needed the bonus toppings, but I was happy to have tried them. On my last visit I tried the beignets, which were crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside, and covered in caramel sauce. I think the cost is mostly fair for this locally sourced food. I would most certainly return to Barn Brasserie and would definitely recommend it to others passing through Muncie.

Dropped in for dinner on Valentine’s Day with a large group and we were seated immediately! I was very impressed with the service on a day typically very hard to get in without reservations. My meal wasn’t awesome, but I tried a lot of the food around our table and I would certainly return.

Been maybe a half dozen times in the last 2 years. Wife and I are a big fan of this place. Can be pricey for us, but it’s well worth it. Good, original food made by people that know what they’re doing. So glad this niche is filled in little olé buffett-filled Muncie. Pork belly anything is amazing. I’ve had Pork Belly ‘n grits, pork belly banh mi, pork belly in my dreams. I could drink the hippie ranch sauce. Wife has gotten different sandwiches and loves different incarnations of the lamb burger. Gotta get the goat cheese app!

The food was delicious! I recommend the goat cheese appetizer. The veggie burger was one of the best I have ever had. The waiter could have done a better job, young and in need of training. He was very friendly but did not check on refills for drinks. It was a little pricey, but worth it.

So it is very hard for me to write a review for Barn b/c I so want them to be successful. They are really putting themselves out there by cooking an impressively broad range of dishes – some of which are technically pretty difficult. So for that alone, I give them a 5. Let me start with the pros: 1) When they make it, their Hoosier Pork Tenderloin is top notch – I’d put it up there against the Chocolate Moose(my #1 in ECI). Moreover, theirs is more traditional than the Chocolate Moose’s. 2) Their fries are great, as are the sauces they serve with them. 3) Good parking and nice space inside. 4) Always changing menu keeps it fresh with lots of traditional French and Italian technique. 5) Great beer selection – heavy on Indiana beers. 6) Sometimes they have a special that hits it way out of the park. The aforementioned tenderloin, the cider chicken, the beef bourguignon. Then there are some negatives: 1) They seem to sometimes have trouble balancing the meal. By that I mean, it is sometimes very, very fatty. For example, you might get a huge portion of fries(which are good!), but with a burger covered in goat cheese, bacon, and butter. The meat will often be very fatty in such a burger. So there is nothing to «cut» the fattiness. A burger with goat cheese and bacon needs to be a bit leaner, or else it is just too fatty to eat. It also needs something sour or bitter to go with it. 2) It is pretty pricey. I know they try to use top notch ingredients, but I think that if they source local ingredients, they should be able to buy them a bit more cheaply. $ 16 is a lot for a burger and fries in Muncie. Nevertheless, they’ve only been around about a year, and I hope they thrive and fulfill all their potential. Definitely a place to check out if you want something nice in Muncie.

We have been to Barn Brasserie at least three times since our first visit last summer and it absolutely never disappoints! We sort of fell upon the place during the rib festival Muncie has and decided that it looked like a good place to grab a bite. Turns out we were so glad we gave it a shot! It is definitely one of our favorite places to go for dinner, the food is fabulous and fresh, the atmosphere is unique, the staff is friendly and the owner is doing the chefery in the kitchen. We got a chance to speak with him(owner) last time we were having dinner there and he’s a really nice guy who quite obviously has a passion for food and using local ingredients. He told us that he doesn’t even own a microwave OR a freezer! And you can totally tell, it’s all made from the freshest ingredients and definitely by someone who really cares. So… this fabulous food. It really is. Believe me, there is something for anyone. We’ve had the poutine appetizer because, first of all, who in this area even makes poutine? These homemade french fries are covered with a really delicious homemade(duh) chicken gravy and then super tasty cheese curds. It’s to die for, and an absolutely huge portion. Everything else we’ve ever had has been super tasty as well, my hubby always enjoys trying the specials. The menu changes regularly, which makes it fun to keep going back to try new things. They make their own sauces(ketchup, ranch, etc) and we love that! This is definitely a must try, and worth the drive to Muncie if you aren’t local. We love it and keep going back. They’ve also got some really good beers on tap, all craft and often very unique. Give ‘em a try!

I think this place is incredibly delicious. They’re menu is so unique. Their stuff is obviously organic, because believe me, there has been a time or two that I’ve immediately went to the bathroom and cleaned my inside out. However, it was so worth it. I love coloring on the tables, it makes me feel so young and alive again like a child. Have a boring conversation? Draw something goofy on the table and pick the conversation up! I love how the menu changes every month. So fresh, so unpredictable, so exciting.

Easy seating. Uses many local ingredients. Nice selection of beers and ales. We tried the Bell perch, chuck steak, lamb and hamburger. First place I have been to that has stevia for the artificial sweetener. Finally no chemicals. Everything was good except the chuck steak sandwich which was quite tough and chewy. They have wonderful french fires. Crisp with a good potato taste. I know they make all their own sauces and you can pick from a variety of them to have with your fries, but here is one little place I wish they would give in just a little bit and let me have my Heinz catsup with my fries. I know, I know, they are trying to help me to eat more preservative free foods. However, I figure if I have already decided to «carb load» on that mess of fries, then let me have my catsup. Please!!! I kind of felt like I was back in California where they tell you to eat it their way or the highway. Otherwise, the service was great and the staff was friendly. Insides were decorated by local artists’ works – completing the use of local ingedients theme. Next time I go there though, I’m taking some McDonald’s catsup packages. Ssshhhh – don’t tell anyone. PS My wife says I should have given it more stars. However she is not the one writing this and she was not the one that got the chuck steak.
