Maybe it was hyped up too much in advance but I was really disappointed. Kitschy atmosphere and bland food. The salmon was disgusting. My wife didn’t like her vegetarian option. Service was so so. Not going back: too bad, the location and place has a lot of potential.

It’s a sweet restaurant with beautiful view. The staff was very friendly and trying hard. But… It’s quite bit dated and even though the food was good we did not feel like it was matching relatively high prices. We will go back again to try again. In good weather and season there is a lovely patio that I’ll try.

Delicious French food. Great for a special date night or other special occasion. It is pricey, about $ 30+ per entrée. We received a gift certificate from our neighbors, but we haven’t been back.

I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant a few years ago, and thought a business lunch return would be great. We were the only luncheon guests, and we were there for over two hours. I repeat, we were the only guests. The food was great, and the waitress sweet and attentive, the summer deck view great though all décor needs an upgrade, along with a much needed paint job. I am not sure if the waitress is bipolar or what, she suddenly got very ANGRY and very passive aggressive. It was really weird. I don’t appreciate wait staff copping an attitude, and say what is on your mind, don’t give us the«LOOK». You were pretty rude to your only luncheon guests of the day. Won’t be back. I should have taken what I read on Unilocal seriously.

It has been a few years since we have been… but overpriced, small portions and the place hadn’t been cleaned since the ’70’s.

If I could give Smuggles Cove a zero star I would. The view from the deck is gorgeous. The food, service, attitude, and décor stink. Ponder this, how can a trained chef over cook Tuna Nicoise? They also charge top dollar, as in $ 16 for a martini that was serve luke warm with the wrong condiments.

Expensive, older crowd, great food, not so polite service upon entrance, construction of the building was questionable, but the view was decent.

The only thing good about this restaurant is the view if you are lucky enough to be seated near the one window that has one. Of the several dishes we had the food was mishandled consistently. Salmon dry and desiccated. Mussels overcooked and tasted like cleaning supplies. Lobster bisque — unimpressive. The most odd item of the evening, the french onion soup brought me back to my college days as it tasted oddly like the super salty Top Ramen Noodles. Ultimately, I would suggest going elsewhere.

Very rude owner. I walked by driveway with my dog and when I crossed the street she drove up yelling at me to keep my dog off her property. Last time I checked she didn’t own the city streets. Will never go to this restaurant and will never recommend it to anyone.

Our Company had an offsite lunch at Charles at Smugglers Cove last December. The food is just OK but a little bit salty. I ordered a steak but it was too dry and returned, It was different than the year before. After that, my co-worker and I chose the cheese cake as dessert. We both had the bad stomach in the afternoon after we got back to work. We didn’t have anything accept the lunch that afternoon. We were so busy and didn’t have a chance to call back to complaint but we were informed our meeting organizer immediately, and obviously she didn’t make the call! I talked to Janet on the phone today and informed her the situation. She declined to say sorry about their food is having problem! She just said that maybe we have some other thing on that day will cause the diarrhea! I DON’T think so! She is unprofessional. I’ll never go back there again due to their bad customer service!

Outstanding restaurant! We used to go for special occasions, but it had been over 10 years; so it was a special treat to return for our 25th wedding anniversary. Everything was wonderful, from the view, to the service, to the food. Authentic and quality everything. Can’t wait to return for our next special occasion, which will be as soon as possible!

Anniversary experience here and, sadly, we will not be back. Beautiful spring night and sat in front of the window(inside) without even knowing there was an outside area to sit. I was literally staring at the guy at the next table as this place has seen fit to stick 2 tables for 2 people right in front of the window. Nothing separates. Icky… as I don’t really enjoy watching other people eat or hearing their conversations. Just wrong… completely… It was interesting to note that the people at the table I was staring at and we could overhear their conversation — were obviously regulars or well known to the woman I presume is the owner. Their drinks were 2x the size of ours, rolls came out for them without asking, butter also. Us? Small martinis for $ 9.25 and we had to ask for rolls only got 1 pat of butter for the 2 of us. Ordered the Chateaubriand for two which is $ 96. Added the $ 12 salad/soup/dessert. Meat was ordered medium — it came out like shoe leather and was actually curled up in a couple of places. Salad was ok. Husband had the soup and he said it was fine. Dessert — well, the cheesecake that was shown had quite a few strawberries with it but when it arrived — it was just juice. The apple/caramel taste thing turned out to be a piece of puff pastry with apple slices on it and darn scant trail of caramel. Husband had coffee which he said was awful. Like my husband said, if you are ok with a 1980’s/1990’s not well kept up place and overpriced food — then this is the place for you. The people were very friendly and nice. But outrageously priced for the meal quality/size and the atmosphere/upkeep of the place is horrible. We tried it. Don’t need to try it again. It was interesting that what with the lack of obvious upkeep — the owner has a brand new Mercedes in the driveway and a condo in France. Saw the Mercedes, overheard the France condo. Strange, that.

I am not writing this review on the food, as I have never eaten here before. I am writing this review on the quality of customer care given by Janet. I organize different themed dinners each month and wanted to do France for our February dinner. This is my 19th month hosting these dinners — essentially trying just about every culture of food. I contacted the venue on Saturday February 8th via email to start discussions. Janet is the person who responded to my request via email. We communicated daily via email from the 8th thru today the 11th. I requested a dinner reservation for Friday February 28th at 7:00pm for a maximum group of 20 people. I stated that I would be able to provide an accurate head count on Monday the 24th. I also asked a few other questions such as: * Can tabs be split? — The answer was yes with an automatic 18% gratuity added to each tab. * What is parking like? — Never addressed by Janet(pay, free, street, lot, etc…) * What credit cards are accepted? — The answer was all major credit cards. * How much is the cork fee? — The answer was $ 25 per bottle. Janet stated that a $ 250 fully refundable deposit was required to ensure the reservation. Generally deposits are made in good faith so I had no concerns with the deposit until: Janet stated that the deposit wouldn’t be refunded if the reservation was cancelled after February 14th(I have never heard of such a time-frame from a restaurant), if my party no-showed(totally understand — hence the good faith deposit) and that the deposit would go towards the total days business(exactly the reason I asked about splitting tabs). Janet did advise that she forgot I wanted separate tabs. By this time I was a bit nervous about putting the $ 250 deposit down; however, I did tell Janet that I would call with my credit card info today(per Janet’s request). I also asked for a head count that didn’t require the $ 250 deposit but was never given an answer. I stated that I had 8 people who had already RSVP’d and that my guess for the total head count would be 12 – 14 people(group had until the 23rd to RSVP which Janet knew). When I called Janet today to give my $ 250 deposit, she not only didn’t recall dealing with me(even though we had been communicating daily since the 8th) she stated that I could make a reservation for 8 people and anything more than that was too difficult and that I should go find another restaurant. Bottom line is that Janet is disorganized and dishonest. I have no problem finding another French restaurant. Excellent customer care is what keeps places thriving and none of us should settle for anything less. Below are a few French restaurants that I’m sure treat potential customers much better than Janet treated me. Perhaps this is just one of the reasons that Charles is rated the lowest out of all the below restaurants. Boat Street Café Luc Lynn’s Bistro Wild Vine Bistro The Georgian

Overpriced and Overrated, I have had just as good at home, sorry but it’s true. I like fine dining, i just don’t like getting ripped off, I am sure I will not return, food was good but i can get that good for less at other places.

My husband and I went there for our five-year anniversary. While walking to the restaurant from the parking lot, you walk through cute garden area and lighted pathway. We were hoping to sit on the deck, but the weather had other plans. We sat inside which was cute and comfy. The chairs are very comfy. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. On to the food… my husband ordered French onion soup for appetizer and a dish like beef wellington. He said the French onion was one of the best he ever had. His beef was tender and delicious. It was served with potatoes, creamed spinach, and steamed vegetables. All were really good! I had Caesar salad for appetizer and Linguini Fisherman(seafood linguini). My linguini was packed full of mussels, scallops, and prawns. The flavor was amazing! They don’t skimp on portions… I actually had to bring half the linguini home. For dessert, he had cheesecake and I had cream brulee. Again, both were delicious. Onto the service, we were the youngest couple in the room — they did not treat us any differently. Our waitress always made sure we had everything we needed. The only downfall is the pricing. My husband ordered 2 drinks and I just had lemonade. Our total bill was $ 142 for the two of us. With the food, service, and view being amazing the price is well worth it. Both my husband and I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back!

Pretty awesome French restaurant in Mulkiteo(still no clue on how to pronounce that btw.) I was in Everett on a business trip, and was looking for a restaurant for myself and 3 coworkers to dine at on a Tuesday night. This place came up in a Unilocal search, and it had really high ratings, and it was SO close to our hotels that we decided it was worth trying. I simply referred to it as the«pirate place» because the name sounded like a pirate themed place, haha. It’s actually French! And btw the service here was really good for us. Well, aside from one small hiccup. Just FYI, to all you who are planning to go here on separate checks, make sure you tell them BEFORE you begin eating that you plan to do separate checks! Because at the very end, we asked to split it 4 ways and it presented issues for the waitress(co-owner?) because she said the register is «antique» and it has issues with separating stuff. No huge deal, but when we got the check, the tip was already added on… hmm, odd. I could have sworn restaurants only did that if the party was 6 or more(roughly) ??? Either way not a *huge* deal, but not exactly convenient. Price wise, it’s not cheap to eat here. I split a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and then I had an entrée to myself and my tab was around $ 83 after tax and tip. My other two coworkers spent about $ 63 per person on theirs. Kind of steep. Food-wise, it’s pretty good. Not the *most* amazing food I’ve ever eaten in my life, but not bad either. The service was very kind and also professional. There was no snobbery or pretentiousness at all!(Always a good thing.) I had escargot for an appetizer, and my coworkers had smoked salmon and lobster bisque. The salmon was pretty good too, I tried one bite. Didn’t try the bisque. My main dish was salmon in puff pastry. It came with one tree of broccoli, some cooked carrots, and some creamed spinach as sides, as well as potatoes au gratin. I am normally not a fan of the aforementioned sides, but the potatoes were pretty good. The carrots were kind of mushy and lacked flavor as did the other sides. The only thing that saved them was the copious amounts of sauce on the dish, as well as the delicious crab meat baked in with the salmon and puff pastry. Mmmm. Rich, creamy, and tasty. My co-workers had beef wellington and the lamb. They reported excellent entrees. The view was amazing too, and very relaxing after a long day of work. I would probably come here again if I am in the area for traveling/business. I was saddened to see a review stating that one of the owners is not sincere, because I felt that(aside from the whole separate checks ordeal) she was very sweet.

This restaurant made me feel like I was in cute charming old french house with nice deck at the lake. — Complimentary bread: warm nicely toasted bread. — All dishes my colleagues and I had were good but I didn’t think they were worth over $ 30… A bit over-priced I thought… Perhaps, around $ 20 might have been more appropriate for the dish. Flavor and portion of all the dishes were good but nothing really spectacular. — I enjoyed dinner, ambiance and service but I wouldn’t choose here as my first choice for French Food. If you are in Mukilteo and want to have dinner in relax comfortable atmosphere, I recommend this place. Just remember it will not be a cheap dinner.
