Kelley’s BBQ & Catering

Kelly’s lives up to the roadside-​food folklore but it’s the catering that really stands out. The time we had it as catered food, the brisket was more than respectably good. It was flavored beautifully and finished with that elusive combination of dry crust and an exquisitely tender body.
If accessories make the outfit then the sides make the meal. The scratch-​made mac and cheese was a bit heavy on the garlic and uncharacteristically light on the salt but it far and away trumps most recipes. The baked beans came out damn fine, a fair bit sweet but not sickly so. I’d call them some of the better ones I’ve had.
This is more or less central-​Texas style so expect slices with sauces on the side. The standby sauce is a bit Kansas-​City sweet but it’s seasoned well. I recommend treating it as a garnish, though; to slather it on is to drown well-​seasoned cuts and that’s a misfortune.
I’ll visit the roadside stand again. But an event catered by Kelly’s, that’s an occasion I won’t miss.

Good BBQ for Mt. Vernon. The best day to go is on a Friday they do the tri tip special which is delicious. I always stop by when I am in the neighborhood. You should stop by the price is not too expensive and the food is good.

I had Kelley’s BBQ cater my wedding in August 2014 and it was fabulous! Food was delicious, Connie is incredibly sweet, they were helpful, timely and very efficient! We had their chicken, pulled pork, garlic mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, fluffy cornbread muffins and more! A perfect variety of options to choose from! My guests are still talking about the delicious food! I would recommend Kelley’s BBQ to anyone for catering any event to just a great place to stop and have lunch!

I love Kelly’s! Literally — I love THE KELLY’S! What a beautiful family, serving delicious food! I love going to Kelly’s for family fare but also love it when Kelly’s caters big events (like weddings, etc.) of which I’m involved. Connie and Mike make it so easy and fun! Cheers to you!

I’M OBSESSED. Take a friend, go alone, take out, call ahead… the perfect BBQ place with a couple of outdoor picnic tables, that’s it! YUMMY BBQ!

I had Kelley’s prepare a meal for 35 that I picked up and served at a lunch meeting. On the menu was pulled pork, beef briquette, buns (to make sandwiches), baked beans, coleslaw, Mac and cheese. For after lunch treats… brownies and apple crisp. It came out to about $ 765 total (before tip). They were kind enough to provide me some small plates for the crumble and brownies and plastic serving ware for all the food. I am from the south and you know how tight our BBQ game is down there… I really have to hand it to Kelley’s though, they surpassed all my expectations. That was my first time eating the food there and I have daydreamed about going back ever sense. So you may ask… where is the fifth star then? Well, it’s in my wallet next to my receipt that I still haven’t expensed. I had to pay with my personal debit card, as they don’t accept AMEX. One of my major irritations at dining establishments. I guess not everything can be perfect, but at least the food was!

Really good BBQ from a little shack by the side of the road. They do have a small outdoor sitting area, but we got to go and just ate in the car. Loved the cowboy beans. Pulled pork sandwich was supper good as well. Yum!

Fantastic BBQ! Friendly staff and they even have a few tables to enjoy your meal outside. Try the chicken, you know a good place by how they do the chicken.

I’m from Georgia. After 4 years, I had yet to find a comparable BBQ place. Well, now I have. I had the beef brisket and potato salad. It was fabulous. My daughter had the pulled pork and mac and cheese. She devoured both. The BBQ sauce was spot on. Perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy. The sweet tea and lemonade were perfect as well. It’s a 2 hour drive from where I live, but well worth q drive. I can see myself dropping by anytime we find ourselves near the area!

The pulled pork and ribs are so flavorful and delicious. The spicy bbq is the best! My husband wasn’t in the mood for bbq, but I was, and after trying the ribs, he wanted more.

Best BBQ in WA. We are from the south and had yet to find a decent BBQ joint in WA. This is it. All of the meat was tender and juicy and their sauces were fantastic. If you get up the the Mt. Vernon area, don’t miss it. We will be back.

This is some seriously delicious BAR BQ. Whenever we drive thru Mt. Vernon and sometimes when the need for ribs is just too overwhelming, we make the trip south from Bellingham for Kelley’s Ribs.

I didn’t think this place was all that great. I found it really kind of expensive and the brisket was really not good. It was dried out and mooshy all at the same time. Maybe my expectations are just too high but we won’t be going back here at this price. I’m just not that impressed.

My wife and I had Kelley’s BBQ cater our wedding on ⁹⁄₂₀ and they were fantastic! When we did the tasting we liked everything that they had to offer (some of the best brisket I’ve ever had), but ended up choosing the BBQ chicken and pulled pork along with a few sides.
On the wedding day they did not disappoint. There was more than enough food for all of our guests and they set up, served and cleaned up very efficiently. Everyone that I have talked to since the wedding has told me that they loved the food. They thought everything served from the pork to the beans to the salad were delicious! They loved the BBQ!

Whenever I am near, I always make point of timing my trip to stop in for lunch. Never disappointed with anything I order. Stop by you will be glad you did.

Pulled off while driving through & sure glad we did! Brisket sandwich was very tender & yummy! Met the owner who is very nice — can easily see why she has been in business for 20+ years!

We stopped by and picked up the pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, cornbread and sweet tea. The pulled pork just was perfectly seasoned and tender. The cornbread was sweet and terrific. Kelly’s has the best barbeque in Skagit and Island counties.

WOW! Kelley’s BBQ catered my wedding at Tazer Valley Farm on 7÷4÷14, what a great element to a 4^th of July wedding. The food is simply amazing — words cannot do it justice. Connie was so wonderful and easy to deal with, and the prices are so reasonable. I couldn’t believe we saved so much on reception food and still has such high quality.
I thought as a bride I was very calm all day, until my one and only bridezilla moment came when I found out that people took home all the leftover mac & cheese and there wasn’t any extra for me. That was devastating, thankfully a bag popped up, and I went home clutching the mac & cheese instead of my new husband ;) We had so much leftovers, planning the number of guests for a wedding is the absolute worst part. We had really late RSVPs come in and then those people didn’t even attend! But I couldn’t be more happy we had extra from Kelley’s BBQ to take home.
The owners of our venue had Kelley’s BBQ on their preferred venue list, and suggested Kelley’s out right, first thing — they have experienced many perfect receptions thanks to Connie Kelley and gang!

From Chicago passing through and saw a BBQ sign, amazing food! Had the brisket and beans, girlfriend had the pulled pork and potato salad and it was fantastic. Would come back as much as possible.
