Lawrence Epstein, MD

Wow! What an experience. Doctor Epstein is not only thorough in his examination. He has incredible bedside manner, wisdom, and takes the time to listen to you. The last time I went to a Physician like him was well over 30 years ago. My last physical out of Palo Alto Medical clinic in October of 2015 lasted all of 15 minutes. (And that was because I prodded by former primary care physician. In reality, the physical would have lasted no more than 10 minutes.) With Doctor Epstein, he spent just about an hour with me! Simply amazing! Have you heard of Physicians doing that today???
I went based on the Unilocal reviews posted. (The positive ones) He is everything that I say and more.
Although my new insurance costs more, it is well worth it by having Doctor Epstein as my personal physician. He also immediately made referrals to specialists for me that I need to see. I am glad that I made the switch.

The marker on the map is incorrect. He’s located behind El Camino Hospital I’ve known Dr Epstein for many years. He truly cares about his patients, is well-​read on the latest therapies and meds, and knows when to refer to a specialist. He continues to be sharp as a tack, stills enjoys downhill skiing, and has got a great staff, Norma and Annie, who are friendly and efficient. I hardly with more than 5 minutes and getting seen isn’t difficult, like is was in the past. As a retired nurse, I highly recommend Dr. Epstein!

Dr. Lawrence Epstein is an outstanding physician. He embodies empathy and compassion. His excellence as a clinician is only superceded by his character as a human being. Rarely do we see this level of committment in the medical system we have today.

I am so grateful that I found Dr. Epstein. I was looking for a primary care physician for years. In Dr. Epstein, I have found a doctor who is knowledgeable, up to date, and compassionate. He is well grounded in the medical community, and he is knowledgeable about complementary medicine.

I’ve known Dr. Epstein for almost 30 years, and, sadly, the time has come for him to retire. In the past few years he has become increasingly overwhelmed by his patients needs, impatient, rushed, unable to listen, and more likely to write a prescription without checking the patient’s medical history first. His referrals are often to personal friends rather than truly competent colleagues. At my last visit, he swore at me, saying «You are so f — –» This is not the Dr. Epstein of years ago. This a man who no longer is able to provide competent care.

Dr. Epstein is the best doctor I have ever had. He has been my primary care doctor for the last 5 years or so.
His office staff are all very nice and know me by name. Any billing issues, if there ever are any, are resolved very quickly and easily. Sometimes the wait is longer than expected, but Dr. E always gets to you and never rushes your visit. A small price to pay for an amazing doctor.
Whenever I have some kind of medical emergency, he always manages to squeeze me in, even if its last minute. He has even called me on a weekend to check up on me and make sure everything was okay. No doctor I have ever had has done this for me.
He is kind, compassionate, cares a lot about your personal life and always asks how you are doing. He knows his stuff well and has always managed to cure or treat any condition I have had. Dr. E merits 5 stars and more.

In practice for about 40 years — definitely a top doc. He is smart, thorough, and personable. His office can get a little busy, but it is only because he takes time for each and every patient. His staff is great, and this is one doc that will fight to get you the care you need.
