Red Tail Mountain Resort and Golf

By far the best golf course I’ve played within a 100 mile radius. The course owners are very cordial and usually present within the restaurant for a kind conversation. I’ve come back to this course for the past five years and each year it gets better!

The food is good and the wait staff is very courteous. There was a slight imperfection with my meal that I didn’t even mention, but the chef noticed when my plate was taken away and my bill was adjusted. A very personal experience with good people. I recommend it highly.

This is a true hidden treasure! We found it by accident, while surfing the web for an «out of the way» get-​away weekend. The 14 rooms that are for rent were at one time, condos, very nice, well appointed, well kept and spacious. You have access to tennis courts, swimming pool and a beautiful, mountain golf course (greens fees apply). There is restaurant in the main lodge as well, although we didn’t have time to try it (wish they offered breakfast!). The staff was very accommodating and quite friendly. The location is approx 25 minute drive north of Boone, just across the border into TN, near Mountain City. Depending on your time of stay (W/​E vs. weekly), Boone has the most dining options, however there are limited places to eat in Mountain City. We will definitely visit again, and add a few more days next time!
