Great food, great service. Celia’s nachos are the star of the show for me! I would recommend to a friend visiting town.

Used to love the place. Tried today and the food was so greasy that my companion could not eat their meal. They discounted it about 3 bucks. Gee thanks, glad I paid for a meal I could not eat.

Food was great, service was great, and happy hour prices were even better. Mom and i had a blended margarita each and left stuffed after a bill than came to only 26.00 plus tip. Luckily I was able to convince my mom to go with the majority of the opinions I read on Unilocal that promoted the smothered burrito. Mom and I shared the smothered chicken burrito and ordered the happy hour chips and guacamole as a side and we both left stuffed and satisfied. My mom thought food, «tasted like her mexican mother made». What a find and perfect end to our day at the Tulip Festival. Guacamole and smothered burrito were amazing!

Went there to dinner and was not impressed. The waitress was pleasant. But for not a packed place it took over a half hour to get our food. We also watched people who ordered after us get food before us. When we finally got the food we were even more unimpressed. Their chicken burrito was bland with just dry shredded chicken and some beans in it… no sauce or anything else. The chicken enchilada was almost the same but with sauce on top. Overall, not great and over priced for what you get.

We have been customers for 5 yrs. A month or so ago I left a pouch(from my purse) accidentally. When I came for lunch a couple of days ago, our server, Dierdra, saw us & immediately brought my pouch & said, «you left this in the booth last time you were here.» I was SHOCKED!!! I knew I had lost it, but didn’t have a clue where. I was SO impressed that she remembered me immediately– though I am a regular customer. I do have different staff serve me & don’t expect everyone will remember! SO impressive!!! Also, when working w/Nikki on gluten Free options over the years, you have made more dishes GF(like chili relleno) & more sauces GF. This is SO appreciated too. You are not only the best mexican place in town for your food; your staff is remarkable too!!! Thank You!!!

My husband and his family have been coming here for years and I can see why! This place is very consistent and I have yet to have anything bad here! This is my go to place when craving mexican food! A few things that are a must try, the ceviche.. Fresh and very very good. Cadillac Margaritas are smooth and refreshing. The Verde sauce is off the chain! Sometimes a little Spicer than normal. The huge chunks of pork in the sauce makes it even better. Give the smothered egg burrito a shot, not something I would normally order but my husband and father in law order it every time and it is one of the best mexican dishes I have put in my mouth! If you just want a few drinks and something to share, the nachos are cheesy goodness and the smothered potato skins are soft and covered in refried beans and the Verde sauce. Chips and salsa are good and they make their own salty mexican blend of spices you can sprinkle over your chips and or food. Try this place! You won’t be dissapointed!

Price was a bit high for the amount of food served. My meal was quite tasty but over salted. Service was slow, servers were visiting in the back while we sat waiting to order. Still, I recommend this place to friends on a regular basis. Their Chimmychanga is fantastic.

This place is hands down the best Mexican food around. I have been coming here since I was little. Chili verde, chimichanga, smothered burrito are amazing. Lets not forget their amazing chips and salsa! If you haven’t tried it you are missing out!

Sorry but this used to be a great Mexican restaurant, not anymore! Our 2 appetizers were anything but;very poorly prepared! Not that tasty. Need to change their cooking oil. Our dining partners entrees were swamped in runny beans. A bad experience for all of us. We also felt the prices were way too high.

Anything with Chili Verde is awesome. I have several favorites which makes it such a hard choice. Smothered tamales, chimichangas, chicken fajitas, carna asada tacos, the 3 taco dinner. See I have a hard time. Lol. Friendly staff. They are there to make a great dining experience for you. The margaritas are so yummy and strong. Yes sometimes there isn’t enough spice to something but then everyone would then complain that it was TO spicy or hot! You can always add heat or spice but can’t take it away. Just tell the server your likes. And to the people who say they got sick. It takes 24 to 48 hours for any food born illness to take affect. It was more likely from the meals before the last one they ate. Ps cheese is a big part of the gooey Mexican experience people. It’s good to read what’s good and not so good about places. But, 40 years in business must tell you all something right!

This place used to be where our whole family went when we wanted Mexican food. After my experience there a few months ago, I’ll never go back… and I never even ended up ordering. I went for lunch and asked a waitress at the door for a menu so I could order something to go. I was the only one waiting, and she was busy wiping down menus. Without looking up, she muttered, «Yeah, here,» and handed me one. Since the last time I’d visited, the prices had nearly doubled! At any other Mexican restaurant a cheese quesadilla comes with pico de gallo in it, beans and rice, garnish, sour cream… etc. And it would be for half the price of what Mexico Café charges for two tortillas and some melted cheese. I honestly don’t know why people are willing to pay those prices for mediocre food at best… and with that kind of greeting at the door? I’ll pass.

This is what I call a last resort dinner place. It’s not my favorite Mexican food place, but it’s not terrible. Their chips and salsa are awful though. They put chili powder on them and the salsa is absolutely flavorless. We asked for the spicy salsa and it was just hot and flavorless. The atmosphere is nice, as are the staff, and you can get food pretty quick. Drinks are good, but the food is just ho hum.

Stay away! The food is not very tasty,(I’ve had better) but it is very greasy. Other people dining with me ordered tacos and literally you could wring them like a sponge and the grease would flow out like water! The waitresses response to the complaint was«well the hamburger is going to exude some oil». Never have I seen so much grease come from a meal ready to be eaten anywhere, not even a meal prepared at home! My plate was the smothered burrito. It tasted ok, nothing notable about it. I ordered the ground beef and it was more greasy than other food I have eaten but not even close to being as greasy as the tacos. I ate the burrito and left felling ok but disappointed. That night about 3 am I got so sick, it was so painful! If you value your time, money, and health, pick somewhere else to eat!

{24hrs later… so far three family members with«twisted» tummys} Superb wait service… nice people throughout the restaurant. My first visit with 7 other family members. I will not return due to the food being horribly flavorless. The kids menu was horrible too. My child ordered the nachos and beef taco. Beef taco arrived drenched in grease. Push a fork on it and it «bled» grease. I expected a small portion of a nacho with beef and all the regular toppings for nachos. It arrived with a thin layer of cheese… nothing else. I asked for the taco to be removed from the bill. Thankfully they removed it. My alcoholic beverage had no flavor of alcohol. I wont be back. Possibly a decent place to have a beer and chips. {Salsa is flavorless too}

We passed this on the way into town, and the ‘best margaritas’ signage caught our eye. After we got checked in at the motel, dinner became a priority. Full parking lot, wait list for tables, and typical Saturday family dining chaos, but the staff was unruffled. We were seated quickly, and warm chips and tasty salsa long on green onion followed shortly. My Pacifico and a margarita(both a bargain, but not the best) helped us focus on the very complete menu. Not being too hungry my better half decided on a bowl of posole and I ordered a shredded beef mole enchilada. The amply sized bowl of posole was well spiced and meaty, with tortillas and avocado slices on the side. The enchilada was likewise very tasty. Service was very personable, food was high quality, and the prices were reasonable. I’d frequent this place if it was at home in Phoenix, and there are a ton of Mex spots there. Locals are lucky to have this!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in all the land. I could go on and on forever about how much we love it but I don’t want to beat it into your head over and over. Our favorite items include the smothered burrito, the chili verde is to die for, the chimichangas, tamales, and popusa tostada special when they have it. So good, so very VERY good.

We heard the Café has the best Mexican food in the Valley so off we went. It wasn’t quite as good as what we get in Tucson but awfully close. My cheese enchilada’s cheese wasn’t melted enough and the chili relleno was a little overdone. But the mole sauce was 5 star with a depth of flavor. And the beans and salsa with warm chips were great. The restaurant itself was relaxing and our server was superb. So far, this is my favorite Mexican eatery in Skagit Valley.

Disappointed. We thought with a large Hispanic community in Mount Vernon that we couldn’t go wrong. Sadly no… Chile relleno was heavy on flour not chiles. Food was generally heavy and bland.

WOW! Having grown up in Arizona, I love earthy Sonoran style Mexican food. Having lived in the Pacific Northwest for many years now, I had yet to encounter anything close to what I was used to — let alone that was good. My test for a Mexican restaurant is their taco, and Mexico Café passed… the crispy taco is not in a preformed shell, it is fried with the meat in it. And shredded beef instead of ground… PERFECT! The combination plates seem to be oddly heavy on chili rellenos, but they were very happy to give me my favorite — crispy shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada, and tamale with no sauce. Love it! Just wish I lived closer.
